ESPN's Pat Yasinskas believes the Panthers will "almost have to cut" LCB Chris Gamble this offseason.

We save 7.9 million by cutting Gamble, what would we save cutting those two?

DWill's 2013 cap number is 4.75 million, there would be a massive cap hit if the signing bonus all went to next year:

7/29/2011: Signed a five-year, $43 million contract. The deal contains $21 million guaranteed, including a $16 million signing bonus and $5 million of Williams' second-year base salary. 2012: $5.25 million, 2013: $4.75 million, 2014: $5.75 million, 2015: $6.75 million, 2016: Free Agent

Gross, I dont know what's guaranteed..

2/19/2009: Signed a six-year, $60 million contract. The deal included a $5 million signing bonus. 2012: $8.5 million, 2013: $8.7 million, 2014: $6.7 million (+ $1 million roster bonus), 2015: Free Agent

Then there's Stewart's contract:

8/11/2012: Signed a six-year, $37.811 million contract. The deal contains $22.5 million guaranteed, including a $9 million signing bonus. Another $6 million is available through incentives based on 1,200-yard rushing seasons and 1,600 all-purpose yard seasons. 2012: $811,250, 2013: $1 million, 2014: $1.5 million (+ $9 million option bonus), 2015: $4.25 million, 2016: $5 million, 2017: $5.5 million, 2018: Free Agent

We can save a few million next year by cutting DWill June 1st. All we would have to take in unallocated bonus is $3,2 million in 2013 and we avoid his salary.

Gross appears to only have $1 million left in unallocated bonus and his cap hit is over $11 million, so there is big savings there assuming there is not some guaranteed money left.

Forget Stewart. As near as I can tell he is un-cuttable and un-tradeable from a cap standpoint.

You're 2012 starting seconday!!!

LCB - Josh Thomas

RCB - James Dockery

SS- Charles Godfrey

FS- D.J. Campbell

This screams Super Bowl...

First, swap Godfrey and DJ. Godfrey plays FS when DJ plays.

If our D-line plays like they did for most of the year, we may be okay with these guys along with some young talent behind them. Hey, at least Nakamura's not in there.

They were good enough to beat Drew Brees and Matt Ryan, cant go anywhere but up. And no matter how good a secondary is its nothing without a pass rush. Some of the best CBs in the league right now were no name/undrafted guys before they got their status.

Williams counts roughly 8 million toward the cap in 2013 (4.75 salary and 3.2 signing bonus).. If we cut him as a June 1st cut the three years of guaranteed money of 3.2 times 3 or 9.9 million will cost roughly 5 million in 2013 and 2014. So we save 3 million in 2013 but have 5 million in dead cap space in 2014. If we take it all in 2013, we actually lose him and his cap hit would go up from 8 million to 9.6 million. Not likely unless we do it as a June 1st cut.

Gross on the other hand counts 11.7 million against the cap. His guaranteed money left is 4 million which if you take it as a June 1st cut it is 2 million in 2013 and 2 million in 2014. So you save 9.7 million in 2013 and have 2 million in dead cap space in 2014 which is very possible. Gross is going to be 33 in July and not the probowl player he was.

Stewart you can't cut realistically or all the rest of that 22.5 million guaranteed money comes due immediately. Not going to happen.
