Carolina Panthers meet with TE Gavin Escobar

I think the panthers are going to add another TE either in the draft or FA. i am not comfortable that Escobar will drop to the 4th but he would be a great big bodied target for Cam.What I like about him is that he can either be moved outside or play the TE position .

IMO, when I heard Gettleman mentioned the need for "touchdown guys", I thought of TE, not WR. I'm really thinking that with all the meetings we have had, we're going to try and trade down or back up into the 2nd or 3rd. Personally, a trade back to add at least a 3rd: Jonthan Cyprien (1; late), Kawann Short (2), and Gavin Escobar (3). All of whom we have met with.

I could see that. If Warmack or Cooper is still available at #14 you might see NY Giants try to jump ahead of Dallas to take one of them. Gettleman would settle for a 3rd rounder to move back a few spots.

The Giants wont be drafting an Olineman in the first. And definitely not trading up for one.

Does NYG need Oline help? But, very good thought. I can def see Gettleman and Reese helping each other out.

They do need Oline help, but the Giants never draft Oline high. I don't see them changing that MO now. And certainly don't see them moving up to get one.

Never know. Just bc they never draft one doesnt mean they wont in three weeks.

Lets say they love a Warmack or Cooper. Say Warmack is gone by our pick at 14, leaving Cooper as the best available guard on the board. The Rams and maybe even Cowboys would love to add Cooper. Reese could very well give Gettleman his 3rd to jump up 5 spots to take Cooper, and at no.19 we are in a great position to draft a guy like Jonathan Cyprien.

I'm not saying that its out of the realm of possibilities, because anything is possible. But if you look at their recent draft history. They tend to take Oline later in the draft. It would be great to make that trade. I just don't see it happening. I think our greatest chance at a trade, would be a team looking for a passrusher.

I Dno about a pass rusher. Theres not one at 14 that is going to force someone to move up unless it's Ansah. Mingo, Moore, Montgomery, etc are good but teams can sit where they are and still get one of them. I think the best bait for us to use as a trade back is Vaccaro or especially if Lane Johnson falls to 14.

Thinking more along the lines of Jarvis Jones slipping(which is likely) and a team jumping in front of the Taints. Could also see a team like the 9ers moving up to get a DE (Richardson) because Justin Smith is getting long in the tooth. 9ers also have an ass ton of picks. It would be funny if we got our 3rd back from them.

    • Its quite literally insanity and its quite literally textbook panthering.  Literally 2 weeks before the season they pull this poo.  It absolutely helps no one but Moton.   fug morgan fug tepper and fug tillis.  This is a horrendous move no matter how you sell it.  But but but culture, but but but it sets a precedent, but but but he deserves it, but but but it frees up cap space.   It was a stupid fuging move.
    • fuging Christ dude this isnt hard.  Like at all.  I get you simping for this poo team is your thing but sometimes you have to look at reality.   Even removing his bum knee from the equation, none of this made sense.  He is 31.  He has been paid handsomely for his service here.  He was currently under contract for this season.  Why in the holy fug did anything have to be done 2 weeks before the season started.   The people for this move, in this thread are saying A) He deserved it (this is the nfl it doesnt work like that  B) It frees up cap space (then why in the fug didnt we do this in Feb or C) You logic (We are getting a deal at 53 million guaranteed for the next 3 years.   You realize with this deal we cannot cut or trade his ass for 3 years.  You understand this right?   So in my opinion we should have let this ride into the offseason and go from there, what he is going to threaten to walk, big fuging deal he would be 32 on a chronically bad knee, what other moronic franchise is going to give him 40 million up front?  It wasnt going to happen.   And you are acting like its impossible to replace a 32 year old RT with a bum knee.  Just go and draft someone, move Icky to RT.  There are tons of options instead of extending this dude 2 weeks before the fuging season.  The truth is Morgan and the shitheads in the FO fell for this dudes crying act and got all sentimental and shelled out another ext.  We are a poverty ass franchise that doesnt act professionally
    • Amazing what the prospect of being traded to Carolina will do for contract negotiations.
