How so?

my take....just from what i've seen and been watching, there's not much seperation between the two. i think that vaccaro has been getting the better ranking because 1) he's more familiar and 2) he's from a big school. i think that vaccarro is just a bit overrated.

just looking at the two, they both are very versatile. both are fast and have really good instincts. i think, tho, that vaccaro makes a really good FS (despite having very few INTs) and an ok SS, while cypriens is really good at both, but esp. at SS. i do think that cyprien is better at being a ballhawk than vaccaro while vaccarro is better in coverage, if that makes sense.

the two selling points here for cyprien over vaccaro are this:

1) we've moved godfrey from SS to where he belongs....FS. they seem to be committed to him being there for the near future. that means that the priority becomes SS. that in itself makes cyprien a better fit.

2) both are very aggressive players, but vaccarro is a "kill shot" kind of guy who isn't very good at wrapping people up while cyprien is a guy who is consistent in wrapping people up. rivera is more interested in players tackling than hitting and with more penalties being called on safeties for making hits coming last year and that will be continuing, a premium is going to be put on players who tackle well rather than those who have to be coached up to do it. i think that wrapping up is also just better defensive play because just as many misses come as hits when defenders go for the kill shot.

another thing to consider is that vaccarro has gotten in trouble with the law a couple times...the last time right before the senior year. sure, it was just a misdemeanor, but it was the second time while in college and that's just too much smoke for a team that likes clean draft picks in the first round.

just like any pick, it all depends on the situation and not the overall ranking. if the team was looking for a FS and were content with godfrey at SS then vaccaro might be the guy, but between the two of them and the fact that we're looking more for a SS, i think cyprien would be the pick between the two.

    • Exactly He's played two seasons and started 28 games. He's well beyond the point of being able to point to 2 or 3 games and being able to say, "THAT is the QB he is and will be in the future" Of course he can get there, but anyone trying to use just those couple of games to rank his place amongst the games QB's today and their full career's worth of playing at that level, is just asinine. Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, Burrow, Hurts, Herbert, Daniels, Stafford, Goff, Geno, Purdy, Baker, Love, Dak, Tua, Kyler, Lawrence That's 17 QB's right there that have played better over their careers than Bryce has played at his best.  And I'm not saying they're all studs or guys I'd want to be our QB moving forward, Tua for example I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole, but his body of work is a million times better than Bryce's has been. It's also not including any of the other QB's drafted in 2023/2024 other than Daniels. So again, say you believe in Bryce, say you think he's going to prove he can and should be our QB of the future, that's all fair and totally fine. But nobody can say he's been an above average QB in his career thus far, it's just an asinine notion.
    • I'd think we could get one of those from Dallas for... whatever.
