Last year

There were a million threads stating people wanted a "scat back." DG took one and now people are saying he's an idiot. I love the Barner pick. MH would have reached for a DB instead DG takes one of the most talented playmakers in the entire draft.

The only pick in this draft I didn't like was the OG...but if he turns out to be a mauler with untapped potential then well look at this draft and say it was the building block for a great team in a few years. Anyone who paid attention to DG knew this type of draft is what would happen. You build dominance up front and our DL and OL apart from the DEs was terrible last year and isn't getting any better by not addressing it. Solid draft IMO.

It's the same story every year for the Huddle... A pick or two they don't understand, and the GM is a moron and the season is lost before a down has been played... Most don't understand the ins and outs of the draft, and none are talent evaluators, scouts, executives, etc... To most, all they see is "A RB in the 6th??? WTF???" They don't understand what exactly the selection means, only that it means we didn't get the 14th best Free Safety that they watched on YouTube last night... It's unfortunate that they can't enjoy the event, for stressing over a 6th rounder... It's more unfortunate that they resolve to taking their frustrations out on a message board in an attempt to make everyone here as miserable as they are...

This is the G-man's first draft for the Panthers. I think he did a great job with free agents, and only time will tell about the draft.

Lets enjoy the moment and be patient. He stated we would get two starters with this draft and think he did just that with the two DTs.

If the other picks make it, it will be a plus. Hurney was only good for a first round pick.

    • I’m not mad at Moehrig.  He’s great at what he does.  And to be honest, a lot of my favorite safeties in our history were box-first type guys - Maxie, Minter, Mike Mitchell, Chris Harris…  they’re first and foremost objective was to put people on their backs and coverage was secondary.  There is a place for that.  There is a definite need for that.  Physical guys that set the tone.  So cool, we have that in Moerhig. But what we have lacked for the vast majority of our existence is a true free safety that cleans everything up on the back end.  Sometimes they come in the form of a JOAT, like Peppers.  I think he would be a fantastic compliment to Moehrig’s strengths and weaknesses.  If we don’t go after him, I certainly hope Ransom is given the chance to grow and develop in real-time with real game reps, because what he did in preseason was very encouraging to see.  I hope he can grow into that roaming center fielder with a little bit of an edge to him as an enforcer as well.  He has the tools.  In the meantime, adding Peppers would only help.
    • Option 1 is most likely. Even if he kills it this year, it wouldn't be prudent to rush an extension for one good season. If you have to pay him more because you waited another year, then he earned it. And that's OK. Adjust accordingly.
    • Cam had the advantage of having a very strong supporting cast his first 2 seasons. Things definitely worsened later on. But those first couple of years can kill a QB. Some never truly recover. If they do recover it takes years, and usually with another team. Trying to learn to be an NFL QB with TEs and WRs that are trying to learn too is a recipe for disaster. Imagine if Cam's rookie season was that 2014 offensive squad. Changes everything! I said it when they moved up in 2023. This team wasn't ready for a rookie QB yet. Anyone that thinks Stroud would have been a lot better is delusional. The correct formula is to build a strong team and then you go get your rookie QB. Not the other way around. BY is going into his third season and we're still trying to put a respectable group of WRs and TEs around him. I think they have the right personnel now. Unfortunately they haven't developed into actual NFL players yet.  This season we should expect consistency and aggressiveness from BY. Mostly for his development but also to DEVELOP his young cast.
