The Charlotte Bobcats are deep into their rebuilding process right now. After having the worst season in NBA history in 2011-12, they made some progress in 2012-13 with 21 wins. Their core currently includes 19-year old Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (second pick in the 2012 draft), 23-year old Kemba Walker, and the big man duo of Bismack Biyombo (20 years old) and Byron Mullens (24 years old). The Bobcats could really use a big splash in free agency with their cap space to bring in some veterans.

Even if the Bobcats can't manage to attract a big-name free agent this summer, they can target expensive veterans via a trade with all of their cap flexibility. In a draft that isn't considered to be very top-heavy, the Bobcats are reportedly looking to move their pick (No. 4 overall) to bring in a veteran player. Could that player be Miami Heat big man Chris Bosh? The Boston Globe is reporting Bosh could be a prime candidate:

(Via HoopsHype)

I'm not really sure why the Heat would be thinking about trading Chris Bosh while they're in the middle of the NBA Finals, and once the Finals are over, they could be sitting on back-to-back championships if they find a way to beat the San Antonio Spurs four times. If that's the case, it doesn't seem likely they'd break up a core that has the potential to three-peat the following season.

But if they are targeting big name, high-priced veterans like this report indicates, you can see Rich Cho and Michael Jordan are serious about galvanizing this rebuilding process. A lot of teams sit around and continue to stockpile young players, hoping to either flip them for a veteran down the road or hit a homerun with the development of that young player like the Oklahoma City Thunder plan has shown. The Bobcats giving up potential in order to have more substance on their roster is a good thing.

They just have to target the right veterans to mix with their young guys as they attempt to return to the playoffs

What? why.. wait what..

This would be down right idiotic... I employ those who actually want Bosh to quit being short sighted...

Here are the benefits of Bosh

- We are decent for one year...

Negatives of Bosh

- He eats up all of our cap space for this year.

- He will leave after his contract is up in 2014 (meaning we traded our 4th overall pick for a one year rental)

- We are no longer in the Wiggins/Parker/Randle sweepstakes...

- He's ugly raptor/ostrich looking mother fuc*ker

There is absolutely no reason to make this trade.

    • Dave in a presser gassed up Anthony Tyus III and dying to see him on the field.  I mean 3 is all that needed right, and Dan loves etienne. He's one year filling in his body. If brooks is back, toss in chubba, thats 3.
    • After seeing hits in the last two UDFA pools, I do not in this group sorta of a let down after I gassed myself up.  Not like I know of their games, but just expected more. The duke DT only has to beat out hunte (2025 UDFA) or Ray (DL coach's kid) or even Cam Jackson mid 2025 5th.  I thought they would bring in more edges, IOL, TEs, etc...
    • My 2 favorite picks, since you didn't ask? 3. Brazzell II.  A 1000 yard WR with 4.37 speed and checks all the boxes for a Z Wide Receiver.  IN THE THIRD ROUND!!! 5.  Sam Hecht.  I think he will take over as the starter at some point this season and never look back.  IN THE FIFTH ROUND. Runner Up:  2. Hunter:  We were targeting a DT early in this draft because we did very little to replace Robinson in free agency.  Hunter was our guy and he will start. In addition to that, you got a starting tackle that should man one side of the new OL we will build for Bryce's second contract. A starting WR, offensive lineman, defensive lineman and possible Offensive tackle (at some point during this year from this draft will start.  UNREAL. In addition, I don't doubt that Wheatley (5th round) takes the FS job by next year and Lee III is Jackson's replacement in 2027.   Finally, even Kuwatch should be a special teams demon and LB depth.   Last year's draft was so good it was ugly.  This one will turn out to be uglier.  No offense Basbear--this ain't about you.
