2014 NBA Draft Talk

It's never too early to start looking toward the future. Especially when it is a talented and loaded draft class.

Everywhere I looked, majority has the 76ers landing the no1 pick. Dno why. They may or may not be as bad as us with the departure of Jrue Holiday, but that doesn't mean they're going to easily land it. The Lakers and Celtics may even luckily land the Andrew Wiggins Sweepstake next year.

Well, all along Cho has preached about the OKC model. OKC it is!!! Similarity? YES, just look.

****************************************************************************************************************************

2007 Seattle, No.2 Pick: Kevin Durant SF, Texas

2008 Seattle, No.4 Pick: Russell Westbrook PG, UCLA

2009 OKC (franchise moved/name change), No.3 Pick: James Harden SG, Arizona State

2012 Bobcats, No.2 Pick: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist SF, Kentucky

2013 Bobcats, No.4 Pick: Cody Zeller PF/C, Indiana

                                "projected pick"

2014 Hornets (rebrand Hornets/name change), No.3 Pick: Jabari Parker SF/PF

Andrew Wiggins is a sure lock at the no1 pick in 2014. I believe along with many others that Julius Randle will take the no2 spot over Parker. He has good size and strength to play the PF position. Randle also has great range. Reminds me a lot of a Zach Randolph.

Assuming that Parker doesn't stay for a second year at Duke (praying), grabbing Parker at no3 is a blessing. He's the foundation piece this franchise has been looking for since it's existence. Parker quickly becomes the face of the Charlotte Hornets, and help change it's identity (Bobcats). I'd like to think that Parker can play the "2", but many believes he may end up being a 4 more than a 3 with his thick frame. Parker have draws many comparison to Carmelo Anthony. The kid is humble, smart/high IQ of the game, and nonetheless a hard worker. We quickly learned that GM Rich Cho has a philosophy of taking hard working players from great programs: Kemba UCONN (Jim Calhoun), Kidd-Gilchrist UK (John Calipari), and Cody Indiana (Tom Crean). Jabari Parker (Duke/Coach K) is a perfect match of Cho's vision.

So 2 days after the draft we already throwing away this season and thinking about 2014 draft?

It's time to put a end to this Bobcats way of thinking. We have to believe we will turn this franchise around. Lets talk about this season and not a draft that is another year away.SMH

Lets talk about how Kemba beast Walker will be a allstar this year, and how MKG will become the NBA's top defender.

99% of the NBA fanbase are already looking toward next year. I'm sorry.

Yeah, if your not looking forward to next years draft you might want to check your pulse.

It could potentially be historic with the talent that could come out next year.

Add in the fact that if we hit our pick, that could potentially be the last lottery pick for us in a very long time.

Sorry if we don't get Wiggins it's not much to be excited about. Maybe we might get the #1 pick with us going back to the Hornets but I doubt it.

I'm excited about this year though.

There's 3-5 guys in this draft that you should be excited about, not just Wiggins. All of these guys have the potential to be franchise players. But, lets hope they don't pull a Shabazz.

I will be keeping up with CBB 24/7 this upcoming season, especially Duke, KU, and UK. I will CRY OF JOY or KILL someone in next year's lottery draft. Next year's NBA LOTTO DRAFT and the 2014 NBA DRAFT will have the highest ratings ever in the history of basketball.

This team has yet to get its franchise player so yes it all comes down to the 2014 draft...the whole reason for being as a struggling franchise.

You know what a franchise player is?

There are only 2 franchise players in the NBA today Lebron/Durant. Kobe/Duncan were franchise players but they are older now, so I want include them currently.

So you saying there will be 3-5 franchise players in that 1 draft? I give you Wiggins but the rest are not franchise players.

Franchise players currently.

1.Lebron

2.Durant

All Stars

1.Paul

2.Kobe

3.Rose(if healthy)

4.Parker

5.Dwight

6.Harden

7.Westbrook

8.Melo

9.Duncan

10.Love

Aside from Kobe and Duncan, you're pretty dumb if you dont think that CP3, Rose, Dwight, Harden, Parker, and Melo are franchise players.

I guess by that you also mean that only Brady and Manning are "franchise" qbs? Guys like Cam, Luck, Wilson, Ryan, Flacco, etc. are just "Pro Bowl" players right? You funny, but "YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE".

I have to say, I think Jabari Parker will be the best player in the draft by a fairly wide margin. Watching him play, it's almost like watching Carmelo Anthony play. He's just such a dominant SF. No, he isn't going to do all of the things LeBron can do, he's not a mix of all five positions like LeBron is, but he's a scorer from the SF position the likes of which has been seen in years.

However, I don't think Parker is going to have an incredible college season. He doesn't fit the system of Duke correctly. He's not going to have the ball in his hands a majority of the time. He's not going to get to go iso. He's not going to be able to take over the game from the wing, just because that isn't Duke's offense. It could drop him down just a few spots and put him in that 3-5 pick range.

Also, Julis Randle is a man. That dude is going to dominate college basketball in way that hasn't happened in years. We're talking Blake Griffin level of good.

    • Yeah, if you tune in for any of the remainder of the season you will get what you're asking for. Nobody but yourself to blame. This is a sports franchise of losers, for losers.
    • Here is my take, go ahead and roast me, I'm ok with it, I know where I am. I'm not ready to throw in the towel just yet. I will wait until week 4 or 5 before I entertain that option. This game I blame on the coaching staff. Their failure to give reps to the first team during the preseason was reflected in this game. Lets just call this what it is... our preseason warm up game. You could see that the whole team was flat in the first half. Every aspect of the game, the basic fundamentals. Mental errors, missed tackles, timing on routes, they were not ready for this game. Jacksonville is not a great team but you could clearly see their energy level surpassed ours. I do have to give credit to our defense. They did hang in there and kept competing through 4 quarters (minus the 71 yard run). The way our offense played it's a wonder Jacksonville didn't put 40 on us. Positives I saw, (I know, I know), but come on, we still have 16 games. TMAC IS that guy!! Chuba looked good, and overall, our O-line looked good. As bad as Bryce looked at times I do feel like we're a step or two away from connecting with our WR corps. There were plays to be made that were JUST off by a step or two (again, I know). We have talent at WR, we have talent on offense. To me, this game just looked like a team that was not mentally prepared for NFL week one, and less, "oh my god, we're the same old Panthers". Now I get it... a lot of this hinges on Bryce Young and his confidence. If he can erase this and focus on building continuity with these receivers I honestly think we're not going to suck as bad as we did today. XL... IDK, the jury with him is still out, but there is no doubt the kid has mega potential. Our defense, honestly, considering we have a bunch of new guys on that side, they held their own considering the offense could never change the momentum of the game. I am as disappointed as everyone else at another week one poor performance. But I also realize we are STILL rebuilding. Lets just take it week by week right now and see if we have ANY talent that rises to the surface. Because I really do not know what we have talent wise. And that is not just limited to the QB. So, we will see, but I'm not going to call it just yet... just my take. Now fire away! lol
    • Well for one, what other realistic choice is there? Barring a season ending injury, Bryce is the guy for this year. Next year all options are open, but there aren't any other real world solutions for the 2025 season.
