Horncats interested in Al Jefferson

See, I don't think that is necessarily true. Al Jefferson has all the leverage because the Bobcats offered him a 4yr/60m contract, which is exactly what he wants...

If the Mavericks don't land Howard, Jefferson can go to Cuban and say look MJ is offering me a 4yr/60m contract; if you don't come close to that or match it... I'll sign with Charlotte.

So Cuban gives Jefferson a 4yr/12.8m contract and since Jefferson wants to win, he signs with Dallas.

It's a very simple concept that many money driven players use.

The thing is the Mavs would have no money left and no starting caliber PG, no starting caliber SG, an old and aging SF and PF plus no depth. They have a bunch of guys making 700k that shouldn't get playing time, Marion, Dirk and Carter = that's it. There's not enough quality players that's going to be left in FA to improve the team much more. The Mavs aren't going to win much even if they sign Jefferson.

The Mavericks lineup would be the following and they would have roughly 4 million dollars to fill out the rest of the roster.

Pg- Josh Akognon

Sg-Vince Carter

Sf- Shawn Marion

Pf- Dirk Nowitzki

C- Al Jefferson

That's not going to win in the west, lmao.

Hey old hornets fans that were bitching and complaining. We changed the name to the Hornets, went out and drafted a big man in Cody Zeller and then went out and spent Big bucks on an all star caliber player. Now all of your complaints are invalid so It's time to put your money where your mouth is and buy some freaking tickets like you said you was going too.

^ That's what this is all about.

So out of those that don't have tickets and were complaining, are you now going to buy tickets?

It's a poorly-kept secret that several clubs are willing to "struggle" next season in hopes of winning The Andrew Wiggins Sweepstakes in next year's draft.

But the Charlotte Bobcats are not committed to taking that route. Hence, their courtship of free-agent center Al Jefferson.

Jefferson had dinner with the Bobcats Tuesday night and spent much of Wednesday meeting with team brass, sources said. Jefferson is obviously interested, but he wants to wait and see how the Dwight Howard situation plays out before he signs anywhere.

I already buy 12 game ticket packs to the back court club, so now all of y'all that wanted AL need to pull your weight.

I wasn't talking about you, I was talking to the Hornets fan club that refused to buy tickets when it was called the Bobcats. Then complained because the team wasn't good or making moves to get better. Now all those complaints are out the window, so I want to see how many are actually following through and buying tickets.

"Also, it don't matter where you live if you said something about buying tickets. It's put up or shut up time" <This is what the Bobcats have been telling you all off season.

If dallas just matched our offer would then every have the money to sign their rookies?

They would have around 4 million left over with 8 players on the roster, 2 capable All Stars, 2 players being good backups. The rest pretty much scrubs. I honestly think he would have just as good of a chance at winning with Charlotte.

I just can't see him going to Dallas. I think he is just holding out in case a team extremely over pays because D12 is off the market. For some reason I get the feeling Big Al wants to be the star of a team.

No doubt, I live in Raleigh, spend most of they year in Lynchburg, Va and make the 3.5 hour drive down 12 times a year for basketball and 8 times a year for football (I don't do preseason, we give those tickets away lol). It's time to put up or shut up from the Charlotte fan base.

    • They can get film of all the games? Every team? Wow! Who knew… Our games with them are big examples of why they are in  the CB market so hard.   It is the study they do getting ready for the games.  Preparing to play against is a little different than just analyzing film in scout mode. Deeper dive. Then you are analyzing post game too.  This goes to why players often change teams but stay in the division. The opponents know each other on a higher level.  Plus if you lost to us, you used to get fired. Now you have to trade your first round pick. Moving up on the world.
    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
