What was one of the first offseason moves we did after drafting Cam? Getting Olsen.

 

 

 

 

actually didnt we sign Shockey before Olsen?

whenever i think of lafell and deep threat. i imagine him dropping a sure td against the chiefs. that kind of killed the momentum he had going last year. if he has a good year this year, it will be interesting to see the contract he wants.

Sheesh yall act like the reason we lose games is because of the offense. 

we lost quite a few because lack of offense.  Look at these scores and honestly tell me the defense gave up too many points for us to win:

 

16-10

16-12

19-14

 

That is the Buccs, Hawks and Cowboys game we didnt even give up 20 and lost and even scored a defensive TD in Hawks game.  The Giants and Broncos game we can say we sucked in every facet of the game.  We lost to the Bears 23-22, the defense ended up blowing it at the end but our offense gave up 7 of those points.  I think it is fairly obvious, that for the better part of the first half of the season, the offense struggled.  The first Falcons game, we know what happened but the offense failed us at the end, as well as the defense.  We held the Redskins to a measly 13 points, the Chargers to 7, and the Raiders to 6.  And it is very fair to say, even with the supposed lack of talent on offense last year, they were still significantly more talented than the defense.

I think you're right honestly, and this not enough weapons is merely an excuse.  Of course we could be better on the outside.  What was one of the first offseason moves we did after drafting Cam?  Getting Olsen.  Lafell's numbers havent been great but he didnt get a ton of passes to him and he usually catches everything.  Cam usually targets Smith or Olsen and rightfully so.  We do have two very good rb's and we saw a lot more screens in the second half of the season last year and did very well with them.  I think it is more about strategy and execution, rather than lack of weapons that has held this team back.  Oh by the way, with "minimal" or "no weapons," this team still finished #5 offense in 11 and top 15 last year.

 

And Panthers were top 5-8 in yards per play/snap. Cam was top 3 in YPA, and I think #1 in YPC. 

 

The problem was; they just didn't get off enough snaps/plays during 2012. 

 

Hopefully, both the offense and defense, will remedy this problem in 2013?

That is true, there were times when the defense couldnt get off the field and times we had a couple consecutive 3-and-outs.

dont know, doesnt really matter.  I meant significant first thing.... not that Shockey wasnt any good, but Olsen is a legit #1 TE whereas Shockey was a #2 at that point in his career.

Yup Yup. 

 

Especially, in the first half of the season, and even the second. The defenses, "bend but don't break" defense, bent too much/too long, and eventually broke (TD) way to often; robbing the offense of TOP. Lol
