Cam currently is not our highest paid player. We tied up 90 million in RB's and our QB lead the team in rushing. Yet Cam is the problem that is holding us back from the playoffs? Come on man. You're really reaching here.

Newton will be the highest paid guy in 2 years if he can do what everyone is saying he needs to do.  If he wants to be a 20 million a year guy he needs to earn it.  What are the expectations on Aaron Rodgers this year.  His  offensive line was worse than ours even with the injuries.  He was sacked 51 times. You think everyone is just blaming the line and not expecting him to propel the team to a winning record. It isn't just Cam that is expected to perform no matter who is around him.  You think that Wilson will be given a pass when we play Seattle because a few receivers and linemen won't be playing?

 

This isn't me reaching, this is a very trusted football source saying the same thing I am. This isn't  a talking head or ESPN, this is football outsiders who base their opinion on facts and expert analysis.  It is apologists like you that refuse to see what is plainly there.  Sure the O line is the easy target but even if the o line gets better, it won't fix the problems noted in the article None of those were directly related to the line.

The picture RocknRolla shows an all out blitz that no line is going to pick up.  I guess you didn't see the wide open receiver out in the right flat or consider he could have just thrown the ball away.  Again how is that GIF in any way related to the fact that Newton routinely held the ball for more than 3 seconds more than ant other quarterback in the lleagu including Roethlisburger.

Newton himself mentioned that making quicker decisions and getting the ball out quicker were two if the main things he was working h to improve. He knows what his weaknesses have been and he is the kind of player that will bust his ass to improve. Thank god he is not like many posters on here....or else he would be blaming everyone but himself.

He has played better than we could have expected his first two seasons. That had just raised the expectations. He is a young and developing QB with incredible upside.

I am excited for this season because I think this (his 3rd season) is where we will see it all come together. The athletic ability...the experience...and the work ethos will pay big dividends.

I am excited as well.  I really expect him to pick up where he left off last year and even improve on that.  As you said, if Newton readily admits his mistakes and areas of needed improvement why  do people on here even think he needs defending?  He clearly is going to get better by taking an objective look at himself.  Something many posters are afraid to do for some reason.
