The future of Clausen

Um... A guy who's never played in the WCO is suddenly a fit in it because you think he can't cut it in the system in which he's played for years? :D

Yeah, I can just see Andy Reid picking up the phone now...

If Clausen finds another gig, it won't be with a WCO team. He isn't a WCO QB, and never has been.

No. I can see it because he's a short pass / checkdown artist who doesn't throw a great longball. It's the skill set, and I'd say his career to date bears this out.

Now to be clear, I'm not saying he'll definitely be a success somewhere else. Just saying he'll have a lot better shot at succeeding if he's in a WCO.

Some QBs only look good in a WCO (see: Jeff Garcia, any QB developed by Andy Reid). Take them out of the system and they suck. In my opinion, time in a WCO will show Clausen to fit that profile too.

Bottom Line: Clausen will never be a great Coryell QB. He might be a decent WCO QB. That's his best shot at some kind of NFL career. If he keeps trying to be a longball thrower, he'll be done a lot sooner.

But WCO is all about timing. Lots of QBs have good short and intermediate accuracy, and it doesn't matter a whit when it comes to the type of system they play in. And vice versa--look at Garcia's days in Cleveland. Basically, a perception exists that Pickles has no long ball, ergo, he's a WCO QB. Sorry, neither are true.

And that's why you won't see him in NY,or KC. He's not that guy.

We'll have to disagree on that.

I challenge anyone to look at our roster and decide on 22 more cuts and have Clausen not be one of them. Good luck!

That was easy.

Currently, Jimmy Clausen isn't going to help us win any more games while playing on the field. However, with him having a solid performance against the Steelers, it could enable the opportunity for a late trade for a G or T, with the hopes of acquiring someone who can potentially help our line. At this point, this is the best he can do to help our franchise.
