Containing Russell Wilson

They trusted WIlson so much last year that he threw the fewest amount of passes out of all starting QBs, despite being ranked 5th in time of possession.

All for a QB rating of 100. Yeah, he sucks. What was Cam's? In his second year, no less? 86?

Per attempt average? 7.9 for Wilson... and Cam. Over 9 in the playoffs. Hmmm.... Dude SUCKS.

102 rating in the post-season. Yup, just a game manager. 3 TDs in 2 games. Just a game manager. Came back from 14 down and 21 down to win one and lose the other because Carroll didn't kick a field goal. Yup, just a game manager.

You apparently believe every QB has a sophomore slump. Cam's QB rating was virtually the same his second year.

His second year QBR is slightly better than his first year, only because of his top 5 QB performances over the last 6 games.

You see, in late November the Panthers made major changes to the offensive game plan. Our old OC, Chudzinski, had been using the Panthers as an audition for a head coaching role. He would design and call plays not to be effective, but to just show the league how amazing he can be. Guess what, it worked, he is now head coach of the Browns.

With six games to go there was an intervention and a scaling back of the offensive playbook. The result? Cam's QBR in the 100s and a 5-1 record while scoring 30+ points in most of the games.

During that stretch, the final 6 games of the 2012 regular season, Cam was a top 5 QB in the league. We have no reason to believe that cannot continue this season.

No no, Russell Wilson is a good QB. Probably good enough to win a Superbowl provided an excellent defense and rushing game, like he has in Seattle.

But he cannot be the entire offense of a team in this league, like Cam has been for two seasons now.

Wilson is a game manager, and a damn good one.

Wilson is the better passer, Cam has outscored Wilson and is the better all around QB.

You can teach Cam technique, footwork, etc. you can't grow Wilson, or transfuse Cam's athleticism.

QB's are about scoring.

Cam wins.

No, QBs are about team and winning. Wilson gets that. That's why a rookie QB almost went to the NFCCG.

Last season Wilson had 31 TDs, Cam had 27.

Wilson wins.

Was WIlson forced to be the leading rusher on his team when his offense could not run the ball worth a damn? No

Could he have? No

The aspect that interests me most is our beatup oline against their beatup dline, anyway...CN vs RW won't ever be seen on the field, so, not much point in discussing it anyway, imo.

There we go! Yes, it may all come down to the lines. Both QBs can break containment, so it may be a game of clouds of dust decided by big plays.

I do think our D line over your O line is a bigger differential than your D line over our O line, This is in part because we get Carpenter back! Road grader! He won't likely start, but in Seattle's schemes that doesn't really mean much for our lines. They do heavy substitution in the best of times.

Honestly, if Carp were ready to start at RG, I'd upgrade our O line to very good, almost excellent. If McQuistan took over at RT, this line could become elite.

You really are not getting it. His work ethic was built in long before he'd stopped growing.

lol

Are you really worshiping his high school work ethic?

ok, this is too much for me. I've never seen such homer glasses.

Enjoy the game!

So in his second year he had to have the playbook simplified while in the second half of his *rookie* year Wilson had his playbook thrown open.

And, in the last five games of that same year while Cam was destroying the NFL with a QB rating in the 90's, Russell was vaporizing it with a 114. And the team was scoring... 150 pts in three games. He was the #1 or #2 QB in the league the second half. #2, iirc.

Maybe we should get back to discussing the game.

*Please* tell me you are intentionally acting as if you didn't understand that very plain English just to get a dig in.

    • Summary The 2024 Carolina defense posted a 44.9 grade last year, which was the worst in the NFL since 2020. They also had the worst receiving grade in the NFL despite a QB that emerged in the second half of last year. TMac is most likely WR1 in this class and is now WR1 in Carolina He's going to be incredibly helpful on go balls, dig routes, and in the redzone. Highlights show just that: First highlight is Arizona vs. Utah. 4 verts vs. cover-0, TMac lined up alone on a go ball vs. press = we're launching it Second highlight shows his potential as the X. Runs a backside in-cut and the Tampa-2 MLB sells out on the corner route, leaving his back to TMac. Tough over the middle, explosive after the play. Sees TMac doing a lot of what Mike Evans was asked to do in Tampa. Third highlight shows how effective TMac is in the redzone and it's his one-handed catch vs. Travis Hunter. Brings "indefensible plays." Has size advantage that can beat guys, can jump, and has ridiculous hands. Will help Bryce in year 3 as it will allow him to continue playing "fearless" like he did after coming back from benching. Highlights show where TMac fits and re-emphasizes how he's going to make things easier on go balls, dig routes, and in the redzone: Fourth highlight shows Bryce vs. ATL when he hit AT vs. AJ Terrell down the sideline. Bryce has to hold the single deep safety during his drop to give Thielen a chance (who is only 4yds off of the LOS when Bryce is throwing it). Registers the big-time throw attacking vertically. Fifth highlight is vs. KC on a blitz where Bolton is coming downhill while Karlaftis is dropping back over the middle. Has an in-route that has outside leverage with Chris Jones applying immediate pressure. Layered it over Karlaftis' head for the completion. Sixth highlight is the fade route TD to David Moore vs. Zona. in the redzone. David Moore was the X on this play. Thought this was interesting, especially considering recent conversations about Bryce's intermediate game needing to be better:
    • Nah its Rod Brindamour 0-11 in the Eastern Conference Finals under him.....   Three trips in seven years Zero WINS in the third round.
