WR Crop Looking Pretty Strong for 2014

Just watch. Other than being a cocky knuckle head, Manziel's talents and upside is above the rest. Manziel will be a 1st rounder next year possibly a Brown. Manziel is the 2nd best QB in that class. If you can't see that, you must be the one high.

I'd easily take Hundley over him

I would easily take Mariota and Boyd over him too. Manziel doesn't have the arm strength to make all the throws on the football field, is 6'1 if he's lucky, and acts like an entitled brat off the field.  He makes flashy plays, but Mariota is a much better passer, and equally good if not a better athlete.  Boyd while not the prototype size QB, shows ability to alter his release point to adjust to receivers and position of defense. Also he's still a solid athlete, and much better thrower of the football.  Hundley's all about upside, but physical tools are much better than Manziel's in terms of NFL traits....

Manziel should not, and almost certainly will not be drafted before Marcus Mariota if both come out....

I like Mariota but I still have to give the edge to Manziel. Sure, Manziel is short. Sure he's a brat, but he makes some of the best throws at times. I have not seen much of Mariota too so it's hard for me to make a judgment of the kid. It's hard for me to read into his stats alone since Oregon is such a high powerful offense. I don't believe he's what some people think he is though: Kaepernick.

Mariota can come out this year?  It looks like we are going have a pretty high pick this year.  I'm not sure Cam will get the right coach to further his career, so we could be going in another direction.  If Mariota's avaivable, I wouldn't mind if we picked him up.

So you haven't seen much of him but you don't believe he's what people who have seen him are comparing him to? Seems like good logic to me....

You're getting the same kind of QB though.  If we're not going to let Cam play to his strengths why would we let Mariota?

So you watch some youtube clips and look at the stats, then compared him to Kaepernick? Good luck.

I watch just about every Oregon game actually, but thanks for playing...

What's your point? You want to trade Cam for Mariota? Have fun.

When did I ever say this? I don't want to trade Cam at all. I want the owner and GM to put a coaching staff and supporting cast around him and build this offense around his unique ability. Just don't understand how you can have such a steadfast opinion that Manziel is better than Mariota or Hundley when you say you haven't seen much of Mariota, so I'll assume you haven't seen much of the other Pac 12 guy.  Again, thanks for playing...

    • A winning record would be nice, but I still have us winning around the 6 to 8 game mark. Realistically we should beat the Jets and Saints, that gets us to 5 wins. After that, we have to face a lot of potential play off teams and our divisional opponents. I think we’ll win 1 or 2 of those games to take us to 6 or 7 wins, perhaps 8 wins if we can spring a further surprise.  Is that enough progress for head coach and QB? I’m not sure, it will depend on performances and output. That said, it’s nice to be back in a position where we are thinking about the play offs.
    • I would tend to agree about not falling into the trap and paying a below average QB, but sometimes situations can “force” a team to pay that QB. For example, if we play ourselves into a 9-8 like record, then what options will we have in the draft? Or do we avoid the draft and trade for or sign someone in free agency?  I’m not convinced by the 2026 QB draft class. There’s some intriguing prospects but no one that really screams “draft me”. I’m not sure we’ve got anyone really that stands out as a trade candidate or free agent signing. So although we might not want to commit a big money contract to Young, him playing well and showing progress might force the team’s hand.
    • Realistically we would be looking at no more than a mid round pick for Dowdle or Chuba. Are we really that desperate for a mid round pick? Not really. I would much prefer us utilise the two RBs in a 1-2 punch similar to how we used D-Will and Stewart. After all, Bryce is not Drew Brees. He won’t throw for 300+ yards and carry the team consistently as a passer. So having a strong running game with a 1-2 punch will be beneficial to him, and it will also be beneficial to the RBs because we can spell them and not overwork them.
