Walter Football 2014 NBA Mock Draft

Last update: Aug. 25

(1) Philadelphia: Andrew Wiggins SF, Kansas

(2) Utah: Jabari Parker SF, Duke

(3) Milwaukee: Julius Randle PF, Kentucky

(4) Phoenix: Marcus Smart G, Oklahoma State

(5) Charlotte: Aaron Gordon PF, Arizona (6'-9" Freshman)

A ridiculous athlete who is explosive at the rim; Aaron Gordon has drawn early comparisons to Blake Griffin. He needs to work on his outside shot to maximize his potential.

(13) Charlotte: Aaron Harrison SG, Kentucky (6'-5" Freshman)

The other Harrison twin, Aaron has a similar game to his brother, but is more accustomed to playing off the ball since Andrew typically runs the point.

(Charlotte owns the Blazers' pick (top-eight protected) from the Gerald Wallace trade.)

(15) Charlotte: Isaiah Austin C/PF, Baylor (7'1" Sophomore)

The Baylor big man is an inside/outside threat, but his rail thin frame is a concern among NBA scouts.

(Charlotte owns the Pistons' pick (top-12 protected) from the Ben Gordon/Corey Maggette trade.)

(35) Charlotte: Kendall Williams G, New Mexico (6'4" Senior)

The Lobo senior is a combo guard and terrific athlete.

WOW! I would love it. Other than Andrew Wiggins I really have a huge man crush on "Marcus Smart", but I would have to say that I can and will definitely be able to live with this outcome. If we come anywhere close to this in next year draft, our future is going to be BRIGHT.

2014 Charlotte Hornets

PG: Kemba Walker

SG: Gerald Henderson, Aaron Harrison, Kendall Williams
SF: Kidd-Gilchrist, Jeff Taylor

PF: Cody Zeller, Aaron Gordon

C  : Al Jefferson, Biyombo, Isaiah Austin

I do not want to be anywhere near either Harrison twin if we can help it.

Plus if it shook out like that I would maybe prefer to package all those picks and possibly a player like MKG to move up if anyone was willing

I am a fan of Austin though. He is weak but I have an affinity for skilled guys over 7'0

If the ping pong balls bounce our way for once next year, the rebuilding process is essentially over.  3 lottery level picks in this draft, plus cap space, and we're either looking at multiple young talents through the draft or even packaging something to bring in a proven guy to add to Kemba, MKG, Zeller, Jefferson.

The Hornets won't disappoint in their first season back.

why?

I have just been hearing things about them. Maybe they are just misunderstood or something but from what I have heard they have a reputation of being self entitled and arrogant.

They didn't get along with some of their teammates in some of the summer ball and all star events, stuff like that.

I don't know them personally so take it FWIW. But not all of this is coming from media or blogs but from some people who were there. Like I said maybe they are just misunderstood.

Aaron Gordon: Senior Highlights

Aaron Harrison

I think Aaron Gordon has a chance to be a really good player.

He was on a different level athletically than everyone else at the McD game. Also great build and has some skill.

I want to see all if these guys next year before I fall in love with any of them though.

    • Link to article Seven players mentioned are... ILB Mark Robinson (PIT) - 2022 seventh round pick that was a core special teams player and was productive in the final preseason game vs. CAR (3 TKLs, 1 FF, 1 FR). Undersized at 5'11" 235 lbs.  CB O'Donnell Fortune (NYG) - UDFA rookie out of South Carolina (and a Sumter native). 6'1", 185lbs frame fits the Panthers' preference for long and lanky CBs. Panthers' evaluators got a lot of time with him during the Shrine Bowl, his pro day, and the combine. CB Damarri Mathis (DEN) - 2022 fourth-round pick that played for Evero his rookie season at 5'11" 195lbs both inside and outside. Did well under Evero (16 games, 11 starts, 65 TKLs, 7 PBUs) but slid down the depth chart after he left. Started just seven of 27 games the last two seasons. DB Dean Clark (NYJ) - Fresno State UDFA with good size (6'1" 205lbs) and preseason production (5 TKLs, 1 INT, 2 PBUs) that can also play special teams. The Panthers have claimed a player from the Jets in each of the past two seasons (having also played the Jets both times in preseason though). OLB Brennan Jackson (LAR) - 2024 fifth-rounder that notched three sacks in the preseason. Played special teams and rotated in on defense that could potentially be an upgrade from DJ Johnson. DB Beau Brade (BAL) - 2024 UDFA that appeared in 11 games and played 70% of the special teams snaps. Has the size (6'0" 209lbs) that the team covets at safety. K Ben Sauls (PIT) - 24yrs old and went four-for-four against Carolina in preseason. Made 21 of 24 FGs during his final college season at Pitt.
