Derrick Browns Debut in Orlando

Recommended Posts

Finished day 3 and as of right now my Summer League MVP goes to Ryan Anderson and the runner-up goes to Tyler Hansbrough. Anderson has been impressive with his 21 points and 7 rebounds today. His day one stats are the exact same as day three's stats with 21 points and 7 rebounds and then to cap it all of with yesterday's astonishing performance of 33 points and 14 rebounds. Anderson has accumulated 75 points (which is a summer league high) and 28 rebounds in his three games. Tyler Hansbrough gets runner-up because he looks impressive as usual and leads all rookies in points and has gone 2-3 from the three point arc, proving he does have NBA range in his arsenal. No more doubting the kid, now lets see what he can do against Dirk Nowitzki and Chris Bosh.

Wouldn't be suprised at all but remember this is only summer league he is not going up against other big Power Forwards like LaMarcus Aldridge, Carlos Boozer, Chris Bosh, Elton Brand, Boris Diaw, Kevin Garnett, Pau Gasol, Al Harrington, Antawn Jamison, David Lee, Rashard Lewis, Shawn Marion, Dirk Nowitzki, Lamar Odom, Josh Smith, David West, Charlie Villanueva, Amare Stoudemire, and Rasheed Wallace which will all be good matchups to test his NBA readiness. However with that said I think he can do it.

Right here. He is going up against rookies not elite power forwards. He has already dominated all these guys before. You can also see his lack of defense on these stat sheets by all the fouls he is putting up.

Hey don't get me wrong, I am a Carolina fan, but just working hard won't get it done in the NBA.

That's what makes me laugh, the kid isn't just going to work hard. I mean hell he was faster the Blake Griffin, and there jumps and wingspan are similar as well as height.

I don't see any reason why Hansbrough can be successful if Griffin can.

Speed, and wingspan alone won't get it done in the NBA. Griffin is a more gifted athlete, but Hansbrough utilizes his strengths to take advantage of his oppenents weakness. If the player he is matchuped against averages a lot of blocked shots, excels at rebounding and is exceptionaly fast expect Hansbrough to utilize his outside shot. If he is playing a slower, smaller oppenent expect him to use his jump hook to perfection. He is a smart player but he still needs mold himself into a bulkier Power Forward to matchup with some of these guys.

    • I really appreciate Bill explaining his methodology here because that gives interested parties a chance to try and recreate the results themselves. I believe that it's safe to assume that despite emphasis being placed on WRs that Chuba Hubbard is one of the Panthers' top-5 weapons. Considering targets, yardage, receptions, etc... Adam Thielen and Xavier Legette are also on the list. Jalen Coker's success might have snuck him in there as well. I can't draw a conclusion on who #5 is though. I've narrowed it down to Diontae Johnson, David Moore, Ja'Tavion Sanders, and possibly Rico Dowdle if they're taking into account his production for the Cowboys in 2024.
    • Unfortunately business is business especially when there are large sums of money on the table. Goes the same for player and ownership. Does not make it right either way.  Why would he not want to play for the niners? Closer to home with a team that has a chance of delivering a SB trophy.
    • I don’t know if it’s him bad mouthing his former situation in public or my pettiness but either way I’m not a fan. Dude was on playoff teams getting paid millions to entertain. I’m not better that because and I am better than that. You don’t bad mouth your former employer in public. Esp after getting over paid and two, poor little Russian baby didn’t get the playing spot he wanted. Rod had him exactly where is was supposed to be.  He had a mean lip check and did defend our players. Specifically the devils game around Christmas where is our Haula on his ass. Cool. Thank you. But don’t talk poo about us. Because it make you look like Haula.    “need to get as far away as possible”. fug off. Didn’t see Burnsy bad mouthing and his play dropped off too.    sorry, but Orlov doesn’t get a pass from me. See you twice a year…
