Schefter just reported Fitz is on the block

Seriously doubt we make a move.  He would be awesome for the right price.  But I don't think we can handle whatever he will be asking, because of Hurney and his running back contracts.  I could see him maybe going to a team that is on the cusp of a Super Bowl and wants to take him for the short term [the age thing], or maybe the Patriots will pick him up [hopefully not before we play them, though].

I'd love to have him...for a better price that is. His contract is far too bloated for me to give up anything for him. Besides, if we picked him up it would only be a band aid. We still need to draft a #1 WR.

He would be an elite #2 for the next 6-7 years. I don't think that's a bandaid.

Are you serious? He just beatdown the best corner in the NFL.

I didn't say he sucked or anything, I said his best years were behind him.  Obviously he's still damn good, but it's not like he has some upside... if anything it's likely all downhill from here on out.

We need to look to the future, not trade picks for a 30+ year old WR who is going to cost waaaay too much damn money.

    • It’ll be interesting to see how the board falls I completely agree with you on TE for us The safety from Oregon would be the cherry on top for Evero’s defense/scheme.  If a OL’men is there that you love it would be very hard to pass up. This fan base seems to just see Walker as a stop gap but I wouldn’t be so sure. He’s the same age as Ekwonu. He’s had a much more impressive career arc/progression than Icky has. He’s the better pass protector. As far as I see it if Walker has a good year I’d bring him back over Icky. Ekwonu isn’t some elite franchise LT. Playing next to Lewis is going to be great for Walker much like it has been for Icky. We definitely need to get younger/cheaper on the OL though so for this reason alone it’s still top of my list come round 1 if board falls this way  Could also use another corner with Mike Jackson’s deal up after this season and needing a nickel but Corey Thornton looked really good in that role in the limited time we got to see him. However he’s coming off an achillies injury and you never know with those.  Then as mentioned above we do still have a need at WR. As far as “weapons” go it’s kind of a 2 man show with Tmac and Coker and neither is a burner. If Jordan Tyson is there at 19 and we can have a young WR group locked up for cheap that’s a huge advantage cap wise  And don’t forget linebacker. That clip in Devin’s Lloyd blueprint they used from Evero saying they need more intelligence there could’ve been left out for Wallace’s sake but it’s true. Wallace is lost in coverage. Pair a smart linebacker with Lloyd and that’s a group with Wallace and Cherelus being depth
    • The fact that this is even a discussion is a testament of the level of front office badassery that's going on.
    • Not always. LT was for the Giants. So was Ray Lewis. Von Miller was moreso than Manning his final year in the season that shall not be named. It's usually the QB, but not always.
