WalterFootball: Charlie Campbell

Late 2nd - 3rd. I really think he'll be a 3rd though even with a good 40 time. Unless, a team just like him too much.

So what makes him less of a prospect that Matthews, Robinson or the rest of the WR before him??

Route Running, Speed, Hands, Off field issues???/

I dont know. You gotta ask the experts who are making the projections.

My guess would say that the other receivers (Robinson, Cooks, Richardson, Beckham, Benjamin, etc.) has more upside. To me, Moncrief is pretty polished and teams dont like those kind of prospects. Same for Jordan Matthews. Matthews is projected as a 2nd rounder when he really should be a day 1 pick. Experts, scouts, GMs, etc. likes the "raw" guys bc in their opinion those guys has bigger ceilings.

New Release:  WalterFootball's Mock, not Charlie Campbell's.

(has Benjamin to Baltimore at 17)

(1) Antonio Richardson, OT, Tennessee  :) ;) :)

(2) Lache Seastrunk, RB, Baylor :startle:

(3) Donte Moncrief, WR, Ole Miss  :) ;) :)

I love the Richardson and Moncrief picks! SMFH at Seastrunk in the 2nd round. For whatever reason, this guy keeps mocking a RB (before was Carey) to us. I dont think he know that we already have a hundred million dollar backfield.

Disappointed with guys that he passed up for Seastrunk: Odell Beckham Jr., Bradley Roby, David Yankey, Jarvis Landry, and Brandon Coleman.

I'm going to quote myself here.

I might have to back track on my words. After watching some of Seastrunk's youtube highlights, man does this kid not flash some Lesean McCoy-like ability. This may be a pick that we fans may not like but could be for the better. Our running game has been pretty bad (Dwill/Stew). A guy like Seastrunk could really be the future back.

Just went and check this out awhile ago.

Had Watkins to Oakland, Evans to Buffalo, Lee to Lions. The "big 3" were off the board in the first 10 picks.

Benjamin went to Baltimore (17th) which is realistic. Amaro to the Jets (18th) they could grab a WR as well. Ebron (23rd) to Chiefs, Robinson 26th to Cleveland and ASJ to New England (29).

This is realistic in my mind. Had guys like Adams, Matthews, Beckham, Landry all going before our pick in the second. He had Landry to the Saints. Boy would I be pissed if the Saints got Landry an we still hasn't picked a WR.

I'd be thrilled with Moncrief in the third but would be pissed that DG didn't take advantage of some of the WR on the board in our first pick. Seriously address WR this year and we will be good for awhile. Let Cam build a relationship with this guys for years to come. Be nice not having to worry bout either of those positions.

Yea, I would feel the exact same way. Especially, if the Aints landed Landry before we even make a move for a receiver.

Tho, I can really live with the mock above (Richardson, Seastrunk, Moncrief) if say we went after a WR like Golden Tate in FA. I really think we can find a way to go after a guy like Tate even after resigning Hardy. The Hawks has a lot of money tied up to Harvin and Rice already, Also, will have players like Earl Thomas and Sherman up for contracts soon. Victor Cruz is getting about 7 mil a year. Dont believe that they will retain him. I think we can afford to give Tate 5/6 mil a year. I mean LaFail is going to draw close to 5 mil so why not give a little more to a guy like Tate. But, if we cant retain Hardy, I better see Gettleman use that money on a legitimate vet WR (Nicks/Maclin), plus drafting one in the first two rounds.

I would love this offense for 2015/2016:

QB: Cam Newton

RB: Jonathan Stewart / Lache Seastrunk

FB: Mike Tolbert

WR: Steve Smith / Ted Ginn Jr.

WR: Golden Tate / Donte Moncrief / Marvin McNutt

TE: Greg Olsen

LT: Jordan Gross

LG: Amini Silatolu

C: Ryan Kalil

RG: Nate Chandler

RT: Antonio Richardson / Byron Bell

I just think we have enough backs as is and it's time to start getting outside weapons. You don't think Seattle will bring back Tate? Would love to have him. He's a playmaker. Can never have to many of those. EDIT: just did some reading, Tate is going to be way out of our price range if we try to sign Hardy. And even if we don't resign Hardy, Tate still may be too expensive. I'm thinking Tate gets around 8 mil a year (ballpark).

We can't afford to just let Hardy walk. If nothing else, tag him and trade him on draft day. Have to get something for him. I'm beginning to thing it might be impossible to afford to pay him.

Not sure if your in the Nicks boat or not but I prefer if we didnt sign him. I think he's aging really fast and can't create separation anymore. However, I would take him over LaFell. So if DG is only planning on drafting one WR, I'm all for bringing in a Nicks or Maclin if it means LaFell leaving.

I liked your Adams to Nicks comparison btw.

Ah, quoted your post too soon. But also, I'd love to find a second TE. Not sure what we have with brandon but an athletic TE that can run with the ball would help out a ton

I edit my post before you quoted, but yea I dont see Tate going back to Seattle due to them having  a lot of money tied up to Harvin and Rice already. Plus Sherman and Thomas will get their pay checks very soon. I think the Hawks will draft a WR in the first two rounds. Also, like I said I dont see Tate getting more than 5-6 mil a year.

I really wouldnt mind seeing Gettleman take a RB like Seastrunk. Im pretty sure that either Dwill or Stew will not be back (probably Dwill). And, Stewart hasnt look the same. I think a guy like Seastrunk would really bring a lot of life back to our run game and will really balance the offense out.

Hardy is really scaring me too. I think he's going to demand a lot of money. I mean Charles Johnson kind of money (60 mil), and he really deserves it too. I just hope that we will franchise him bc I dont see Gettleman making that contract. I think the best thing that can happen is to franchise and trade him. I really think we can get a 1st, if not the least a 2nd rounder for him.

TE (FA): Scott Chandler, Fred Davis, Garrett Graham

TE (Draft): CJ Fiedorowicz, Arthur Lynch, Marcel Jensen (3rd-4th)

Yeah it's too bad about Hardy, he peaked at just the right time for his sake but bites us in the ass. But then again a big part of us being the #2 seed is him. I'd really be curious to know what his trade value would be if we tagged him. A first round pick is realistic IMO. I wouldn't trade for anything less that a second and then some.

Yeah I saw a mock with Seattle taking Adams in the first round. Harvin and Tate would kind of play the same role too, so they're better off just picking one of them to keep.

Stewart and that contract aren't going anywhere unfortuently. Deangelo will be the one that ends up going. Hard to write Barner off already but he does need to add atleast 10 pounds of muscle before next season.

Going to be a real interesting and busy off season that's forsure.

And in my dream mock, I'd have Carolina taking a shot on Colt Lyerla in a late round.

Hardy's value right now def would be a 1st rounder. Comparing here with a different position, but I mean Percy Harvin netted Minnesota with a 2013 1st rounder, 2013 7th, and a 2014 3rd rounder. Hardy has to be the biggest name in this year FA, if not the 2nd. Pass rusher also has way more value than a WR.

There are some teams in the late 1st that would want to trade for Hardy, but I dont believe they'll have the money: Denver, NE, and Cincy (unless they decides not to retain Michael Johnson). Im not including any NFC teams in the late 1st bc I dont want to trade him to a contender inside the division or conference.

Cleveland is the only realistic option here since they do have a lot of cap space available and possess ''a lot'' of draft picks. The can def use a pass rusher like Hardy but they play a 34 D unless they bring in a new HC that runs a 43, it'd really make sense for them to trade for Hardy.

Jacksonville also has a lot of money and will be in search of a pass rusher, but I cant see them making a trade with their 1st round pick. Unless, we're talking about their 2nd (pick 39).

Last time I heard, Colt pled guilty to possession of cocaine.  Got 10 days in jail, like 40 hours of community service, and will be on probation for 3 or 4 years.

running back can wait til 2015. we should get weapons and get the oline ready for the new backs to dominant. people keep sleeping on Barner but I believe he will be ready to go by 2015 also. Barner just needs to put on weight and that just takes time. Once he gets bigger and stronger I think he will be a great back for us. In the 2015 we just take the BPA RB in the 2nd round since this is where tend to start going now anyway.

    • I'm more impressed with the UDFA that the guys they have drafted in the first the last 2 years. A whole lot of prove it is still needed before any improvement should be talked about seriously.
    • Sure.    ignore that he said this roster wasn’t good in 2023 to 2024 but keep up the effort
    • While I don't believe its a must win, (we have been better on the road this post season) it is definitely A NEED TO WIN the longer this series goes the more pronounced the Canes advantage on rest and health will be! If we hold serve at home in games 1 and 2 guaranteeing a 6 game minimum series for them if we lose the road games..... by the game 4 and 5 I expect them to be beat they have played A LOT OF HOCKEY the last three years, they have MINIMAL rest off a more physical than one might have expected series vs the leafs.... you know Tampa took their pound of flesh in round 1 from them. Combine all that with the fact that even though this year's canes squad isn't as talented as last years this IS a better squad than the one they swept last time that had McKenzie Mckeathern on line 1 Turbo with a broken hand a banged uo and eventually concussed Slavin (and even though it was a sweep 6 OTS and 4 1 goal losses is hardly dominant)  This year Bob hasn't been superman (hes probably gonna still have a great save percentage agiast us just a side effect of our style) Thatchuk is maybe 50% (3 game winners agiast us) their defense no longer has Gudas and several other downgrades.  While the Canes have a healthy and performing Svechnikov along with other big guys to counteract florida like Carrier, Jankowski, Robinson.   I by know means think it will happen but I either see this as a low scoring dog fight or a series were the canes surprise and end up dominating.
