Seahawks game was not a flameout. That game was lost the prior week when DeShaun Foster was injured.

Third straight game on the road, down to starting Jamal Robertson at runningback, three (and sometimes four) defenders committed to Steve Smith, and only Drew Carter and Keary Colbert as pass catching alternatives.

That's not a flameout. We just didn't have the personnel.

well, if 3-4 guys were on Steve then it should have been pretty easy to make some plays. I get Foster going down hurt us but Foster did/does suck....and we played an entire season and 2 playoff games w/ basically the same personnel except for RB that game.

Not with Colbert and Carter as our only receiving threats and Robertson the only rusher (I don't even remember who was behind him, probably a PS guy).

We were done.

The Playoff loss against Arizona.

Ugghhh.... Did our team implode...

Bad calls

Bad execution

Bad THROWS

Bad runs

Bad defense

Bad day.....

We'll have our redemption on the Birds November 1.....I have that game circled on my calender.

what recieving threats were we missing? only thing we did that entire season was throw to Smitty. The RB position hurt us w/o a doubt....but we still had the same defense and passing attack.

Not quite. Look up who the second leading receiver for that year was.

Heck, look at the run-pass balance for that season. We were run-heavy all year as much as anything because Smith was the only reliable receiver.

But then the running attack (and second leading receiving threat) were both gone. No running attack and no complementary threat means no balance, and a one-dimensional team is always easier to stop.

All we had left was Smith, and they knew it.

pretty Ricky....but he only caught 25 balls on the season. Colbert caught the same amount. I don't know....can't really remember the 2nd half of the game anyway.....the 1st basically gave be a drinking problem.

Nope. It was Foster.

I was talking in regards to actual WRs. But you are right in that Foster did have the 2nd amount of receptions. I just can't put the ass kicking on losing Foster and Goings. I can accept that it the made the odds of winning tough but we looked like chumps and with a team w/o a gameplan if Smitty saw an overload of coverage.

What the Seahawks did to us (neutralizing what they knew was our only real threat) was what we should have done to Arizona.

Perhaps if the brain of our DC at the time had been functioning, we would have.

But nope :nonod:

Well, to be fair they do have Boldin who was probably more productive than Fitz during the regular season when he actually played last season. But I agree, you let a banged up Boldin knock us out of the playoffs.

not to beat a deadhorse but Fox is again given a pass and blame goes to Trgo...Fox admitted he decided to sit in on the defensive meetings....so Fox obviously thought it was a good gameplan even if you are one who believes it wasn't Fox's gameplan to begin with.

Boldin didn't play.

It's tough to win when you only run 49 offensive plays and hold the ball for 20 minutes. I think you guys over looked us thinking you just needed to show up after our dismal 0-5 showing on the east coast. The Cardinal fans were just as shocked as you were.

I'll be there Nov. 1st, section 218, it should be a good game. It's amazing what building a new stadium has done for the Cardinals organization. 14-2 at home the last two seasons, with one of those losses in the Vinny Testeverde/Tim Ratty debacle.

    • Don't take this personal, but anyone who watches pregame or game broadcast on any of the four major networks & can't point out a dozen "experts" that Luke would do a better job than, is just not paying attention. IMO
    • overall agree on the draft grade as a whole on on each pick, but every time I read (and I have read it more than once) that we "gave up two firsts" for Bryce, I am confused. We gave up the 2024 first, but we swapped 2023 firsts, so we didn't give up anything there. We did give up our former first rounder in DJ, but I don't think thats what you mean as one of the "firsts" we gave up.
    • Didn't  see this posted (since 2023) but since folks have been posting that you can't judge a draft class for three years (a ridiculous take), I thought I'd post this to see what people thought about the 2023 draft. Unfortunately this may not be the most interesting class to do this with but I do quite like retrospective draft grades. Would appreciate other's takes on this (and other recent) draft classes.   1(1) - Bryce Young QB: I am a bigger Bryce Young apologist than most (maybe all). I like the kid. But there is no way around it: This was a terrible pick. If he had been picked in the 4th or even the 3rd round I would feel pretty good about it. But this was the first overall pick that we gave up two firsts, our best offensive player to get.  GRADE: C -    2(39) - Jonathan Mingo WR: not much to say here here. He was here for two years. His yards per catch are on par with Bryce's yards per pass. Rough stuff. To date he has still never scored a touchdown in the NFL GRADE: F   3(80) - DJ Johnson OLB: a pick I hated as soon as it happened and an example of why the premise of this thread is honestly dumb. This was a bad pick when it happened. Most people knew it.  Then came training camp and he did not look good. Then came the preseason which confirmed what we saw in TC. Then came the season which confirmed what we saw in preseason. To date, he has half a sack in his career. GRADE: F 4 (114) Chandlers Zavala G: Honestly the best pick of this draft which really speaks to how awful this draft is. Other than Bryce, the only pick still on the team. He is mostly average or below average depth which in round 4 is not terrible. But he had a pff score of 43.5 and though I think people have unrealistic expectations for draft picks, I still would want a little more from a fourth round pick GRADE: C+   5 (145) - Jammie Robinson S: I liked the pick when it happened but ended up being a disappointment. He logged 1 tackle with the falcons last year and not enough snaps to get a grade on PFF.  GRADE: F OVERALL DRAFT GRADE: F
