Off season mock

Haven't been home for a few years during this time. So, it's my first offseason mock in maybe 3 years.

The premise of this is my belief that most of or FA should focus on bringing back key pieces of what worked last year.

Cut:

Charles Godfrey

Resign:

Drayton Florence - 1 year.

Jordan Gross - 1 year

Chris Scott - 1 year

Mike Mitchell - 4 years

Ted Ginn - 3 Years

Jordan Senn - 2 years

Colin Cole - 3 years

Ben Hartstock - 1 year

Byron Bell - 2 years

Jeff Byers - 1 year

Derek Anderson - 1 year

Dan Connor - 1 year

Garry Williams - 1 year

FA:

Hakeem Nicks, WR - If we can get him signed to a contract commensurate with his production and injuries for the last two years. I would think a three year deal with numbers in the range of Amendola and Hartline.

Everson Griffen, DE - Depth to fit in our rotation.

Michael Huff - Solid vet that can compete with Lester.

Notable UDFA - Connor Shaw, QB

Draft:

Used the on the click simulator for this.

R1 - OT, ZACK MARTIN, NOTRE DAME

- Reports show he had the best technique at the senior bowl. Not surprising. The guy has a blue collar attitude and has held up against some decent competition in college. If he is here when we pick, it would be wise to make this selection.

R2 - CB, BRADLEY ROBY, OHIO STATE

- I don't expect him to last this long on draft day. But if wet can move into a situation to take him we should do it. He is the best zone corner in the draft and can get physical with receivers.

R3 - WR, BRANDON COLEMAN, RUTGERS

- Talent at the WR position can be found outside the first two rounds. Drafting Jordan Matthews is a mistake. You don't draft a WR that failed to get consistent separation from defenders in college. Coleman is a big body with decent hands. He will have at least a year to develop and let him come into his position with coaching from Proehl before he ends up seeing extensive time on the field.

R4 - G , KADEEM EDWARDS, TENNESSEE STATE

- Reports incate he struggled at the senior bowl because if the shift in talent level. That being said, he had some good practices and consistently showed power and footwork. He is another body top compete at RG.

R5 - TE, JACOB PEDERSEN, WISCONSIN

- H-Back prototype. Good blocker.

R6 - DE, IK ENEMKPALI, LOUISIANA TECH

- Reminds me a lot of Jovan Haye. Can be moved to many positions. Doesn't have prototypical height.

R7 - CB, WALT AIKENS, LIBERTY

- Late round flyer on a developmental prospect with a ton of athleticism.

Depth Chart -

QB - Newton, Anderson, Shaw

RB - Williams, Stewart, Barnes

WR 1 - Smith, Ginn, King

WR 2 - Nicks, Coleman, McNutt

LT - Gross, Williams

LG - Silatolu, Chandler

C - Kalil, Byers

RG - Kugbilia, Scott, Edwards

RT - Martin, Bell

TE - Olson, Williams, Pederson, Hartstock

FB - Tolbert,

DE - Johnson, Addison

DE - Alexander, Griffen, Enemkpali

DT - Star, Short, Edwards, Cole

SLB - Davis, Senn, Williams

MLB - Kuechley, Connor

WLB - Blackburn, Klein

RCB - Roby, Florence

LCB - White, Norman, Aikens

FS - Mitchell, Jones

SS - Lester, Huff

LS - Jansen

there is too much talent in this wr class to waste a 3rd on Coleman. We could get 2 better wr's later in the draft. I would give him a 4-6 rd grade with 4 a slight reach.AS for Matthews besides being the "most prolific receiver in SEC history" he ain't hitting on much.

I would be super happy with Zack Martin if he is the pick.  Dude can play any position on the OL, can fit in at RG/RT and play great from day 1.  Bravo for actually mocking players that would fit well in with not only what we need but in our system as well.

Have you done the cap hit for your projected resigns. I counted 13 resigns, most of them were paid over 1M last year and will have to be paid that again this year. A couple like Gross, Mitchell, and Ginn will take over 2M each. Math doesn't add up, even with cutting Godfrey.
