Panthers interested in DeSean Jackson for the right price...

I would love if we are the actual favorites to land him if he is traded, as the NFLN reporter stated, but here's where that doesn't make sense to me...  Both the Raiders and the Jets have significantly higher picks than we do if we're all offering 3rd rounders, AND I wouldn't put it past either of them to offer up to a 2nd for him.

I'd say if they want to offer a 2nd they can have him...  But if they want to offer a similar package, I wouldn't dismiss the notion of offering our 3rd and a 6 or 7, or some such...

The first thing DJ would demand would be to rework his current contract..  This would be where it potentially would work in favor for Carolina...  Give him a lower base salary, and more guaranteed money, and he's probably content for another couple years...  Keep the contract short (2-3 years), and it won't matter if he bitches all that much, as he would be close to Free Agency by that point anyway...

Add in some of the dead money coming off the books, and substantial cap increases the next 2 years, and this starts to feel a bit more realistic...

In the end, I believe it's a long shot, but if we're able to pull this off it certainly turns a negative into a positive for us...

I love the offseason!

Well if the jets get him, it becomes 10 times more likely that we get cooks.

That's where the headache factor Jackson brings might work to our advantage. If he really really doesn't want to play for the Raiders or Jets, we could be the only viable option left. After all, wouldn't DeSean Jackson make us a...dare I say it?...Super Bowl contender? Just missing a left tackle. We'd certainly be closer than the Jets or Raiders.
