  1. Past hour
  2. Why? They won't run one let alone both. Normally I would agree but not with this crew and not when looking at the oline cap issue they are walking into in the offseason. They have that man on the cheap and still won't keep leaning on him. Damn waste
  3. Even if the conspiracy is true, that makes Canales a bad head coach. If you have to simp to the whims of the least knowledgeable person in the entire organization(David Tepper) then what fuging good are you? How is that a real coach at all?
  4. I mean, pay em both, IDGAF. IF we plan on continuing to be a power rushing offense. And, maybe actually act like that for once? All this schizophrenic game planning(or really just piss poor) is infuriating. I get that this team isn't good. Believe me, we all get that. But when you have opportunities to beat teams, do what it takes to win. Not be considerate of people's feelings or worry about being fair or what it looks like to do X, Y or Z. Win. The. fuging. Game.
  5. A good coach would have won those games in spite of Bryce, would have know the difference and wouldn't have let Bryce come back for a year 4. They would tell the GM and owner that they can have that QB or him if they were thinking of not following his needs. Look at teams like the 49ers or Cheifs that walked from A Smith who was getting them into the playoffs for other QBs. That crap doesn't fly with good coaches. And decent owners know it too.
  6. I hate conspiracy thinking, but I have a hard time rejecting this idea. It's either that or Canales is the stupidest coach the NFL has seen in a long time, and while I don't know if he's a good coach, I don't think he's that stupid. Of course, like somebody else suggested he might have gone along with it for the opposite reason, to prove that Bryce can't do it so Canales can have a fair shot next year without him. Either way, it's pretty clear that Tepper is going to have to have the idea that Bryce sucks pounded in his head a hundred times.
  7. Canales was def a premature hire for HC/OC combo...he isn't Andy Reid, McVay, etc. We also wouldn't have landed him if he was a real proven commodity. So far I think the investment has paid off, we'll see if he continues to improve since the margin gets thinner and thinner as your team gets better. We look back fondly on Rivera and the attitude the team had, but he was on the edge of getting canned before he finally said fug it and went all in. It's frustrating as all hell to watch at times rn, but the team is trending in the right direction...it just gets harder as you move up the ladder to overtake the next team.
  8. Then bench him. Or don't make him the centerpiece of the offense(literally from his own mouth) in a very winnable game. Canales offensive personnel management is absolutely abysmal. We see it over and over. Corbett starting over Mays at C(or starting at C at all), Chuba over Rico for "reasons", Bryce over anyone for "reasons." It's constant. XL, Coker, Sanders, Horn Jr., Evans, etc, etc. He is an a below average coach with bottom 2-3 personnel evaluation capabilities.
  9. As far as the head coaching goes, both offensive and defensive sides have issues. Offensive guys get too smart for their pants or are too soft. Defensive guys tend to have tougher teams but also become the biggest offensive issue. We lost a SB because of that and Houston is wasting a QB because their HC wants to build the best D instead. It's all one coin with two sides, both have positives and negatives. I want a HC that can see that dynamic and not avoid it like Ron did. Too few teams run in that space and all of them have had or are having success
  10. this is exactly starting to look like the Russell Wilson and Marshawn Lynch drama all over again with Bryce and Rico everyone in the front office wants Bryce to look good and have all the spotlight instead of handing the ball to Rico for a TD
  11. Yes. Worse than Seifert. Worse than Rhule. I think Frank was actually better, he just had rookie Bryce and couldn’t do poo with him.
  12. I think a good coach.....basically going into the 49ers game could of coached this team into a 8 or 9 win season when all is said and done. but that good coach, is screwed because Bryce Young is going to be the starting QB in 2026 if that goes down. And in 2026, you maybe don't get the same easy schedule setup for your hide the QB approach. And you are suddently a 4 win team trying to run Rico all game.
  13. When has Canales not been accountable. He's able to say when he messed up doesn't throw players under the bus like Fatt Fhule
  14. I always look up the ladder in professional sports. The longer problems persist the fault is usually: 1. Ownership 2. Front Office 3. Coaching 4. Players Canales shows himself to be a weak link in this chain of weak links far too often.
  15. I could totally see Cam Newton going to down......on some modern age version of the Cam Newton/Auburn situation. Just make the "thing" something other than pay to play. And make the NFL thing something other than the towel a towel on the head. I mean, that really is the world Cam Newton wants to be living in today.
  16. I like Steve Wilks the man. I was not completely against him as the head coach but at the time I saw it as a lateral move at best given that he was and is realistically another version of Ron Rivera. And there was not another Cam Newton walking through the door. I leaned toward us finally hiring an offensive minded head coach again and directing more resources to that side of the ball. We know Reich didn't work and honestly Tepper played a significant role in that. Canales has been better but he just does not command a locker room. All the talk for the cameras is just that. It's a fugazi. He to me does not appear to be the head coach to create a strong culture for the next decade. He's too timid and indecisive. There is a chance he could still work out if we actually overhaul the QB room but I think our best chance would be to go the route the Seahawks did. They hired a DC from the Ravens and let him create his own staff. In less than 2 full years he's put his stamp on that team. Can we say Dave Canales has put his stamp on this team? What's our identity? Exactly. Bueller???? That's the problem.
  17. As long as Young is QB #1 it's a run first team. Any coach that can't see that isn't a good coach period. Dude literally figured that out with Rico's help and then forgot it a week after Young's ascension to franchise QB agaisnt the only team he plays well agaisnt.
  18. I know this sounds like reaching, but I had the same thought.
  19. It seems like the only time he gets heavy with the run is when the QB forces him to. And it should have the other night.
  20. I would rather pay him than Hubbard but I still doubt they cough up enough to keep him and Hubbard. If Rico is smart he eill get paid and pick a contender. It's not mystery. It's been DC's MO since he became an OC. He wants to pass first and it puts him into a corner when he neglects the running game too much. Add in the Young drama and it just looks worse than his usual.
