Yeah. As great as he looked, and it was fun as hell watching that, when you look at the postgame reviews of the plays there were some huge holes for him to run through. It wasn’t all him. We get the OL straight we can get production. IMO the single biggest thing we are missing at RB, is a short yardage bull. Especially with a QB that is no help there, we need to address that.

Why trading up in 2026 is a bad idea.
PleaseCutStewart replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
There might be like 3 prospects I would be willing to move up for if they fall out of the top 10 (Bain, Bailey, Reese), but I highly doubt any of them do. Otherwise, hell no to a trade up -
Yeah slow down. I have googled and still don’t know if a patella rupture is interchangeable with posterior cruciate ligament. PCL.

Spoiler alert - he has none of those. Picture a less athletic Anthony Richardson with a weaker arm - that is what he is.

Would kenyon sadiq fill 2 needs?

Funny enough, those good games Rico had were when Canales finally put BC at RG. Once BC got hurt, our run game turned to crap again (outside of the GB outlier game) -

When I say elite, I am talking Bowers and Tony Gonzalez type can't miss prospects. The ones that are the complete package (good athleticism, good blocking, knows how to position body for contested catches, able to run a complete route tree). I also wasn't big on Warren last year (although he at least had the college production) and wasn't sure on Loveland (didn't do enough research on him but was impressed with his route running). I just think TE is a luxury pick for us with how many positions we have that are void of talent. Now, if Sadiq is the best player (by a good margin) our front office thinks is available at 19, then I understand taking him. My worries with Sadiq is if he has to be used like a Pitts, Engram, etc. type TE where they get lined up in the slot because they can't block LBs or Dlinemen. And if that is what happens, it's pretty much like drafting an athletic tall receiver that isn't capable of running a complete route tree. And for how many freaks do we have... you do realize we drafted bum ass XL because we thought he was an athletic freak. Turns out that athleticism doesn't mean crap when you are dumb as rocks, can't run routes, and can't catch the ball... I feel like we have been drafting guys that are displaying elite athleticism at the combine over college production (and I think that has shown why a lot of our drafts prior to last year have sucked) -
He'll be out for 6-9 months at a minimum, possibly even 12 months and he'll never recover the explosion he once had - if he even comes back (I think it ends the career of like 20% of players that suffer it). If the research I did on the injury is correct (it was a while ago).

Dowdle was good for a short stretch. He was poor outside those three weeks or so he turned into Adrian Peterson

Not saying our offense was great, but Rico did practically nothing the back half of the season (after the GB game). I don't think that will be as big of a loss as we are making it out to be. -
In fairness to Sadiq his combine performance was closer to Vernon Davis, and maybe it’s no coincidence that there college production matches. However, like you I just don’t see that athleticism enough on tape I’ve seen. Also I was never the biggest Vernon Davis fan since I also thought he disappeared at times for someone with his gifts.

Tonight should be a win. Most of the Mavericks are hurt (or being sat for tanking purposes). -

So the fact that he was already projected in the first round says he is an elite talent by your argument. This is before the combine numbers. He was already a first round lock that says elite tight end by your measurement. Is he some blocking type player no.. but he is in the Pitts territory of elite H back split type guy. His blocking also isn't as bad as your making it out to be he shows effort and adequate ability. He isn't Sadiq "the freak" for any reason. He's been on NFL radars since before the season. How many "Freaks" or elite athletes do the Panthers have on their roster? You need game changing guys to put odds in your favor I think. Outside McMillan or Brown I say 0 and even McMillan might not qualify because his size is the only thing elite. He doesn't run 4.3 with 42 plus vertical like this kid, after the combine we would be lucky if he is on the board like what are we even talking about? -
Damn we almost agree. I think he is limited. I don’t think 20 yards is deep enough to consider him a good deep ball thrower. But we agree that the field needs to be stretched. The defense needs to feel legitimately concerned about all of the field. You cannot have that unless you threaten it. Right now they are playing the odds that one throw and catch is a fluke and they have a better chance not worrying about it. Case in point the Rams regular season, he did it once and they still left it unaccounted for. Who else would defenses play that way?

Okay so I'm gonna slow down and just talk about the ickey injury. Since I'm not a doctor I asked chatgpt if I was a NFL which injury would you rather have. -

Much like RB, I don't think you draft TE in the top 25 unless they are elite level that will be great day 1 in the NFL. I don't think that is Sadiq. Yes, he showed elite athleticism at the combine, but not sure it really showed up on tape at Oregon. Still worried about how many games he disappeared in last season, if he will be able to block in the NFL (practically all of his blocking was in the spread formation against smaller guys), his drops, and his route running. He's definitely somebody that can become elite in the NFL, but athleticism alone won't get you there. The hype Sadiq is getting off of his combine results reminds me of the hype Evan Engram got. So I guess the question is... Would you draft Sadiq at 19 if he put up similar career numbers to Evan Engram? -
No we are gonna draft Sadiq, if you read the board today.

There is a scenario where coming to us would be 2 or 3 players who we could get in the mid 20s or so looking good to be there and a player people would trade up for, that would be redundant or a luxury for us, falling to 19. It is a very specific scenario that if it doesn’t come together, it just doesn’t. But if it did… - Today

You are confusing me now with the 2 at the same time stuff. The question we should be asking is simply what are his prospects 2-4 years down the road? Does this prevent him from returning to his pre injury level or will it leave him degraded? And if yes then how much? In a best case we may be able to get a handle on that by November/December, if he heals up cleanly and rehabs with no setbacks. Which is helpful for next year and maybe beyond.

Brooks … was that but may no longer be that. After 2 ACLs he is a lottery ticket. We don’t know. If we ever did. If we want to be secure in what we can put at RB, we are gonna have to address it as if he isn’t there. Let’s say we do address it successfully and he shines and then we are overcrowded. Trade deadline, someone can move out.

It was sarcasm. There's no guarantee for the next three. Bussi should have started the first 3 games with a day off in between and let Freddie have the last game of the trip which is a b2b. Much better chance of coming away with 6 of 8 points rather than beings odds-on favorite to get 4 and Saturday night is another crap shoot with Freddie in net.

To add context. I Think it's worse today like if two people had both injuries at the same time. One ACL the other ruptured patellar. Like you would be worse off trying to live regular life in the short term with ruptured patellar getting around. But I haven't seen where it's always wearing down and the risk of aggravating it and reinjuring it are as high as say a ACL. Also I don't think the recovery time is as long as an ACL injury. -
The context is, we still need multiple starters and we have more issues than decent picks.

I was looking for lingering at 35, or 25. Because if 35 that isn’t a big consideration for a 25 year old football player. Or however old Icky is. It’s okay if you don’t know, I am not demanding you give me a definite answer… you just provided the info that someone else maybe could have added some better context to
