Yep. We are the fantasy owners that grab the last player left at the end of each run. We draft guys coming off bad injuries, athletic guys who’ve never shown they are good at football, one year wonders, projects, older prospects and worst of all guys who fall in more than one of those buckets. Even worse than that is we trade up for guys like that.

100%. They have shrewd and intelligent evaluators. We have the 180 degrees of that. We outsmart ourselves attempting to be the smartest guy in the room CONSTANTLY.
-
It does really look like they are forcing throws to him. Honestly, all the more reason to sit him. Don't let the focus on attempting to feed a struggling player the ball hurt the overall offense. He ain't JaMarr Chase.

The good drafters don’t do that. That’s why we wonder how so many solid prospects drop to the Eagles or Ravens. It’s not that they can get away with reaches, it’s that they don’t do that. We do that and we can’t. That’s how you get an 8 year slump like the Jets and Browns and that’s how they seem to stay playoff contenders year after year.

We will see by Sunday at 415pm Eastern i dont believe zero for six on the final drive last week, so in that category of turning it on in garbage time

We have seen this too many times. Rookies, second year & even third year players have trouble with the lesson that a position in the NFL is a 12 month job. There is no off season. To succeed in the NFL, you must constantly work on your craft. That means watching your diet, limit the donuts & fried chicken, hitting the gym or weight room several times a week. In his case, practicing routes weekly until you can run them blindfolded & hitting the Juggs til your arms fall off. Watch game films when no one is looking instead of vegging out on Netflix. I'm sure good people can add to the list.

Early opinion on Carson Beck? -
Hoping for this much touted QB class to start looking like it. Arch Manning was supposed to be the next generational QB prospect and he looks like he's gonna be asked to run routes at the combine because he throws like a girl, I'm not gonna stop insulting the legend Uncle Rico by making that comparison.

The first few mins of this podcast is agreeing with Cam. The rest is failure of XL to sell his route but also the stacked WR sets calked by Canales Really good viewpoint at 8mins and 32 seconds of this 11 min video on what is problematic with XL stopping on an option route Canales isnt doing the offense any favors either not impressed but really no option ..but Brad Izik calling plays. The thing he foes best is be Dave’s buddy

Ok, College ball experts, who should we be looking at for a top 5 pick in 2026? Any particular players you feel would be our ideal guy playing today? -

Those guys, for all their faults, knew what it took to play in the NFL and were familiar with success. They could also establish and maintain culture. We haven't had that since.
-
Yep. As I keep saying, if our evaluation ability wasn't so terrible some of these choices wouldn't be so bad.
-
Tgis needs to be contagious. We need more of this. We are constantly out physicalled by the opponents. Give me Fox and Riveras physical teams anyday over this.
-
fug yall. Yall hated on Cam when he was here. I was born on this forum from that hate. Don’t act like yall appreciated that man.

Wouldn't have been a bad play if the pick had been McConkey.

IIRC, he isn't exactly coming from an impoverished background in the first place. I think this is just the realization for the first time in his life that he is unable to make this next leap up to the NFL level. This isn't rare, dozens and dozens of players hit this wall every single season. Hell, think about how many guys we typically acquire in each individual draft that hit this wall, largely due to our dogshitt evaluation capabilities. Edit: I am tripping. I was talking about Bryce, not XL. I actually have zero idea about XL's background. I suppose he can't be TOO poor if he is a horse owner. That ain't a cheap hobby.
-
He has a heftier contract than you would think. I think the issue is that the Texans will want likely more than he is worth. They are in no great need of trading him. I am fine with Mills as a bridge attempt, no issue with that. I just don't want to be seeing top 4 round draft picks headed out the door, even considering our lack of ability to capitalize on them.

He’s set financially for life barring complete fiscal lunacy. He has $12.3 million guaranteed. Think about that. Twelve million three hundred thousand dollars, he’ll be 28 years old when his contract is up and he’s completely forgotten about if he never plays another down in the NFL if he so chooses. Say after taxes he ‘only’ brings home $6M (fire your accountant territory) and parks $4M in a run of the mill mutual fund… good God… What I’m getting at, IF homie ain’t feeling the NFL, he has 12,300,000 reasons to take the fewest NFL edition ass kickings as possible while waiting out his very wealthy non-football future. Obviously completely talking out of my a$$ with this… but if you hated contact, didn’t want to live with a completely wrecked body for the rest of your life and you know you’re set financially… what path would you take, assuming you’re cool with being a quitter (not calling him a quitter, I’m just playing out a scenario)? Why do so many first rounders bust? Where was he before his one year wonder if he was such a stud? Everybody likes the dude on a personal level. How could you not? …. but I like seeing a winning product even more. He doesn’t play like his head is in the game. The Why is where the speculation lies and helps to clarify if his issues are ‘fixable’ or not.
