Bucky Brooks eats humble pie. You want a couple of slices?

There's only 32 NFL HC jobs available. It's not like you can just sit back and wait for the perfect opportunity. For the money it pays, I'll go out to Vegas and make a complete ass of myself with a poo eating grin you couldn't beat off my face with a crowbar. -

This is complicated by him being a UFA and being unable to pass a physical. Also, he isn't young to be having that sort of injury. As fantastic as he has been, the plan SHOULD be to get another quality utility OL in the draft and if BC becomes available, sign him off the couch when he is ready to go. He won't have many suitors(as he didn't last season) so I suspect this will be an option. Curhan was fine...for a PS player. I do think we need to aim higher there, as well. -

Obviously I’m not going to defend Canales. He’d had immense resources since he got here to build one of the lowest scoring offenses in the league with some of the most unwatchable football we’ve seen since the pickles year. evero has been in the worst situation in the league since he got here and is doing more with less than Canales. Like yeah bryce is awful but there Canales was hired because he said he could fix him. The defense has like five Bryces on it and evero wants to get out here so bad he took a second interview WITH THE RAIDERS -

Pretty sure Carter led the NFL in quick pressures and had the lowest Time To Pressure in the NFL. I think he helped that Burns sack output dramatically. -

I meant for what we did. We got almost no return for those draft picks and I disagree with you. He’s the 10th highest paid edge rusher in the league right now and was #2 in sacks. We paid his salary with players who have had almost no impact (see Tershawn Wharton and Patrick Jones). Burns is 27 and yeah….we absolutely could have used a player who got 16.5 sacks. At this point I’d take any player who could sniff double digit sacks -

Oh, we should've traded him. We just should've traded him to the Rams for their offer the year before. -

I think people drastically underestimate how bad Canales and Evero are at personnel management and talent evaluation. -

He'll always be a luxury piece, and if he's priced like a cornerstone he isn't worth it. -
There are ample good options for us to not choose.

I don't really think he is good at either. That's the problem.

So if the average recovery time (and we both know the reality of the ACL--varies and the longer-term objective is to return to form more than to recover) in the NFL is 8-12 months with many player returning after 9 months. That would put him back as early as camp, but if it takes 12, October. I am not sure I would say "highly unlikely" but it is problematic to consider him depth for 2026 at this time. This probably bodes well for Curhan who has G/T abilities. I think this draft is deep at developmental OTs and there are maybe 4 that can be expected to start right away--but that is based on what I have been reading--I have not been watching videos. -

Panthers don’t have an nfl caliber linebacker or a pass rusher to speak of and their second string would fail to make other teams practice squads but if only evero would this use One Weird Trick we’d be the 1999 ravens -

He didn't quit on us. He was just not effective in Evero's defense, which limits pass rushers. Umanmielen was correct in what he said/implied, IMO. Scheme is a bigger problem than pass rush talent here. It limits pass rushers. He will always be weak in rush defense. -
Wow a Second Interview with the Raiders he may get this job!! And then we will have to think about who could be our new D Coordinator
-
Which is extremely possible with Darnold back there. Saleh has done a good job of shutting down their offense. They have to get Purdy off the ground and cooking without hurting them with TO's. CMC will not be a factor in the run game at all but he can bridge that massive gap that Kittle being lost created by exploiting LB and S mismatches.

I would caution that it is highly unlikely BC will play in 2026 after that torn Achilles. If he does, he will miss a significant portion of the season. So we do need to attempt to replace him in some way. For some reason we just refuse to address critical positions for years on end. It's a franchise trait. -

I agree with him on the "explosive player" focus. I am never going to say that I wouldn't want to add such a guy but I do think Canales offense is specifically tailored to limit explosive players from being effective. Also, same poo a lot of us have been saying for a while about Evero. His scheme has limitations when it lacks elite or at least near elite players. It doesn't disguise or attempt to get the best out of what you have on the roster, it's just going out and running his defense and hoping that some of these misfits work out more often than not. Hence why it is so easy to pick on the LB Corps and Nick Scott so frequently. Evero and Canales need more talent to work with, I think we all know that. They also will be a limiting factor when that talent is there. That's the bigger issue. -

Burns quit on this team, was a liability against the run, and even the one thing he did well (pass rushing) he only had 1 double digit sack season. He wanted way more money than his PLAY was worth. It really doesn’t matter what he is doing now, the only mistake was not trading him when the Rams offered. Even if one time a guy like Burns goes to another team (with 2 other top 5 pick pass rushers and Dexter Lawrence, mind you) and does what he SHOULD have been doing here all along to earn the contract he was demanding, it’s bad business in the long run over many players to pay those guys when they haven’t earned it yet (Jaycee Horn is unfortunately looking like a prime example). -

Safety (particularly in coverage) has been a weak spot for the Panthers throughout their history. The only plus pair of starters we've ever put on the field was Minter/Grant.
