I mean...they are backups. I don't have an issue with them as long as they aren't ALWAYS trash. We have gotten a few good games from some of these backups but tp assume they are "the answer" over literally starting caliber NFL OL is just completely insane.

A lot of that is basic WCO, but I'm guessing you know that. Would add that I'd rather a coach adjust his schemes to fit the players anyway but that's a separate debate.

The up and down performance of these backups might be odd, except they’re backups. Zavala and Nijman have looked cut worthy more than once and other times have been pretty good. Who knows what to think….. I usually go with pessimism.

Darnold hearing the boo birds. Kupp was open and he just missed. Announcers are trying to blame Kupp for running his route too deep but I trust Cooper Kupp over Sam Darnold based on history.

There are definite schematic issues with Evero, but that's not the point. The point is Canales was willing to give him chances, and that even after a (historically) bad year. Bryce, at least so far, is ending this season same as he did last year: trending up. That tells me Canales is highly unlikely to move on from him.

I think opposing DBs are Darnold's kryptonite. There's no specific team. It's just those pesky defenders wearing different jerseys.

You can also see the playcalling indicates they don't trust him.

In regard to Trevin Wallace, hard to miss tackles when you’re never around the play. Atleast you can see Rozeboom flying around out there.

It always happens. Darnold is talented guy but he must be predictable as hell on film because as soon as opposing DCs and DBs start piling up multiple games of film on him in a system it all inevitably comes crashing down.

His OCs were all guys who ran a lot of WCO concepts. Heck, even in college he was work some of the same things. To be clear, WCO doesn't exclude chucking it downfield. If you ever watched the Eagles under Reid, McNabb did at least three or four of those a game. As far as preferences, I used to be primarily a Coryell guy and hated the WCO (me and another guy used to have those debates on an annual basis). I came around to it later on. These days I'm looking into E-P

All super cool. Let’s stay on task here. We talking Bryce Young and Dave Canales. I know you don’t want to but I’m not going anywhere else with you at this point as has been told to you over and over.

i just think that this offense directly shadows what Bryce is comfortable doing. thats why it looks like it does. A lot of throws to the outside of the wr route tree, the flat, comeback, out(sometimes) and the corner. this with rollouts is what i think he is most comfortable doing. The problem dave canales has is i dont think he is as comfortable or even good throwing the inside part of the wr route tree, the go, the post , the drag , the curl(50/50) or the slant (50/50). that eliminates a lot of possible plays.

Darnold always struggles vs the Rams.
