  1. Past hour
  2. I'm expecting once Ransom shows he has a solid grasp on running the backend with Moehrig that he'll take over for Scott. The safeties have to chirp with each other quite a bit since they're often rotating based on whatever the play call dictates (ie: aligning with the strong side or man).
  3. idk how the three Mooney drops and two missed field goals can be chalked up to Penix being horrible, but he definitely fell apart later in the game when down two scores and having to be one dimensional on offense. There was a couple of passes too that were affected by the rush to force them off topic. Once Penix was uncomfortable, he unraveled further. Then again, if folks are looking for a reason to not hope yet by finding reasons to dismiss the performance, carry on I suppose?
  4. If we could just play the falcons more often, it would really help.
  5. Time will tell but it does look encouraging
  6. What surprised me was that they didn't seem to really commit to the run early and then couldn't once they got behind. I did notice the tackling seemed to be much better than we've seen, however.
  7. This is a tale of 2 defenses. While they're close to the top in interceptions, the team is dead last in sacks, with a whopping 1. It would be great to see once they actually start getting to the quarterback how much more of an impact our secondary can make.
  8. Jackson is Morgan's best move and exactly what you want to find later in the draft and in trades. Good player who is reliable and worth what they are paying him. I wish we had 10 more players like him. He isn't catching Olsen who was a great player but that's not a negative but just the reality.
  9. Our secondary could actually be getting pretty good: CB: Jaycee Horn CB: Mike Jackson NB: Chau Smith-Wade FS: Lathan Ransom SS: Tre'von Moehrig If the rookie pass rushers come along and we can add some actual warm bodies at ILB we could have the makings of a pretty solid unit here.
  10. I don't ever want to see Nick Scott on the field again.
  11. Jimmy Horn should be returning kicks and punts. It's not like Etienne has done anything to justify keeping that role.
  12. Could be a long-term replacement for Jackson.
  13. First, I know it's a small sample size but as any long time Panther's fan knows, it's been hard to find anything positive to talk about so I figure it's worth pointing out. He may just be "the" guy
  14. The trade that netted us Moton was pretty good. Think we traded away Kony Ealy for a 2nd round pick and drafted Moton with it Edit: Forgot we also gave away a draft pick, so it wasn't that good
  15. Today
  16. they didnt have a sack all game did they? Penix is bryce young level bad neither is going to pan out. falcons should try cousins again and move on to a new qb next season. panthers should also but they will most likely just pick up fifth on bryce
  17. 100%. A chunk of our victories over the past few years have been opponents having "those games." Hey, take em where you can get them, especially in the division. Definitely glad to see that ATL also suffers from poor coaching issues, as well. While we have been a dumpster fire, it has been nice to see most of the division also experience this fate, as well.
  18. I am a little perplexed Scott is still starting over him, TBH. Curious to see how long that lasts this season(minus any injuries).
  19. Yeah, I just think Penix had one of those nightmare games that had more to do with himself than our D. Then the whole team around him sort of imploded too. but we were due for one of those going our way for a change vs us being the one gifting games to an opponent.
  20. So we turned a 1st into a 3rd and 7th. Is that supposed to be good?
  21. Eh.....I tend to disagree on the run defense but that's whatever. The thing that struck me immediately was that they DID have ample opportunities to get yards on our pass defense but Penix was so frequently off target with the ball that it was nuts. Late, behind, too high, too short, etc. He was spraying throws everywhere but where they were intended to go. I am a little reticent to give TOO much credit to our defense for that reason. They did generate a lot more pressure on the QB so that was great. It's a one game sample so I don't want to reset the expectations just yet. Hopefully it's a trend and not a statistical outlier.
  22. Penix was awful because the defense bottled up their run game and was finally getting pressure. It clearly rattled him, as it would most QBs.
  23. The David Moore hate is, quite frankly, absurd. He is good for what he is, a 4th/5th WR that is an excellent special teams player. It's hilarious we have so many Moore detractors but then guys like XL get infinite passes.
  24. Moehrig had coverage issues the first two games but also had the third highest coverage grade for the defense against ATL behind CSW + Mike Jack. Good game overall for him as he had the highest pass rush grade on the defense. There were three particular plays that stood out for the all-22 review thread (still in progress: a QB hit on Penix during a blitz that affected the throw, giving Penix a little extra shove out of bounds, and ethering Charlie Woerner in the flat. Lathan Ransom should be starting over Nick Scott, but Demani Richardson is where he currently fits best as a dependable back-up and consistent ST contributor that occasionally hits the field as the #3 safety.
  25. New Englands Defense is much worse than Atlanta. They also struggle to run the ball on offense, their offensive success has been from Maye. So basically, our offense should perform better but it will boil down to our pass defense against Drake Maye.
