Holley was not his former teammate. Get it right.
-
It really isn't. All of this "me first" stuff is complete nonsense. I am not sure how much more the league has to show that elite pass rushers are premium positions, despite the cost of them being literally at top 15-20 QB pay levels. Now, would roster dynamics and cap come into play? Absolutely. But if those are not on the table, I am very comfortable saying that there is not a single currently employed GM not pulling that trigger.

I am definitely in the "choir boy" team mentality. I think locker room meshing is very important. Having players that want to play for each other. I just linked a post from Reddit where the Cowboys fans themselves discussed this. Like I said, most won't speak out on something like this and expose themselves. Would you talk trash about a co-worker if you knew HR was going to go right to them and immediately tell them verbatim what you said? https://www.reddit.com/r/Dallas_Cowboys/comments/1abmjxp/cowboys_micah_parsons_probably_the_most_selfish/

Not many. Most Cowboys fans that I know, and I know a fair amount (unfortunately ), LOVE Parsons and thinks that he should be paid (just like his teammates do).
-
I did. Former team mate said he was the most selfish player on the team. Fans of the Cowboys say he is the biggest cry baby, refuses to play the run. Their defense is "10 guys plus 11 doing whatever the F he wants." https://www.reddit.com/r/Dallas_Cowboys/comments/1abmjxp/cowboys_micah_parsons_probably_the_most_selfish/

I'm not discounting anything, just stating the facts. No Cowboy, according to a Goog search, has ever publicly called Parsons selfish except Holley, and plenty of people in the know actually thought Holley was idiotic. We all know that DB is not as outspoken, perhaps brash, or "diva-esque," but he's also not nearly as impactful of a player either. You're basically saying that we shouldn't trade DB in this (purely hypothetical) trade scenario because he's a good choir boy. I don't agree. Parsons, for all his podcasting, is still arguably the most valuable defensive player in the game.
-
We had no problem with Peppers attitude until the end. Cowboys fans themselves talk trash about Parsons.
-
Come on now. Comparing him to AB or Odell is just not reality. I still don’t even know what these character concerns are people in this thread are referring to, nobody has actually given any examples or situations that happened
-
For reference, for the people who seem to not understand the context here, Panthers GOAT Julius Peppers was averaging 0.675 sacks/game through four seasons in his NFL career. Parsons is averaging 0.833.
-
That's a wild speculation. From what I have seen from our team, we avoid "me first" type players, and I am thankful for it. Not every team will sign a Antonio Brown or Odell Beckham.
-
Different time, different place. Every draft has its own dynamics, you know that. Moreover, picking an inexperienced rookie and arguably the best pass rusher in the game are two totally different things. 26 is young as hell. He's just entering his prime years. He hasn't even played five seasons.

Football is here! Chargers vs. Lions

Josh Allen is the biggest positive shocker I can recall. I've never seen anyone develop as much as he has as a passer. Dude couldn't hit the broadside of a harn at Wyoming. -
I don't think there is a single GM in the NFL who wouldn't make that trade, if given the option. DB is a very good player. Parsons is tracking towards a HOF career.
-
Totally fair but there were also Josh Allen comparisons knowing he would be a project. He is still young enough to develop

Micah officially requests a trade
Move the Panthers to Raleigh replied to jb2288's topic in Carolina Panthers
I get that we need something to talk about, but the cats never get in on these major player moves. You know this. I'm glad they won't get him, though. No more trades or cut-corners. Build the right way -
You are going to find a way to discredit everything I say while ignoring the questions and evidence. Not sure how we are supposed to have a conversation like this.
-
What does this really accomplish? Makes more sense to keep Brown and find our own pass rushers
-
This is true but this is all fantasy anyway. Dallas very rarely lets great players in their prime get away. He will get paid and remain a Cowboy.
-
Parsons is 26 Derrick Brown is 27. Neither of them are that young. But they are both in their prime no doubt. If we didn't pass on him and Parsons were already here we could be having a different conversation or we could be having the same conversation as the Cowboys. It's all speculation. But we had our chance if we wanted him.
-
Different position, different focus. DB swallows the run. 90 PFF grade and NFL record in tackles for the position. We were gouged without him last year.
-
Can't recall anyone who has carried this much hype for so long based on name alone. Not being able to supplant Ewers is a big red flag IMO. Ewers was a good college QB, but I would expect a future #1 overall pick to send him to the bench, especially as a sophomore. Maybe not as a freshman but after a year to get his feet wet at the college level if he's anywhere near his hype level then not playing him over Ewers last year was a huge mistake.
-
It was an ex-Cowboy, THE Jesse Holley, that made that statement. Come on, man.
-
I mean, arguably the greatest pass rusher in the NFL currently for a 3rd and Derrick Brown??? That's very one sided, IMO. Yes, Parsons does get injured a lot, so there is that. But Brown, although very good, is not a significant impact in the pass rush. He definitely could end up being that at some point but he absolutely has not been that so far. Parsons is easily worth DB and a 3rd.
-
How is it wild? He’s a Manning. And a much less physically talented Quinn Ewers looked pretty good at times in Sarkesian’s offense. Manning could be mediocre for one year as a starter and still go #1 overall on pedigree alone. But I expect he will put up some good stats next year.
-
Doesn't fit the way Dan is trying to build the side IMO
