[Mina Kimes Show] The offensive trends taking over the NFL
PNW_PantherMan replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah just be the Eagles. Pay your young QB a questionable extension earlier into his rookie deal and then sign the highest priced free agent RB. I think that's why I filtered them from my mental models of teams that work, because that's not a model you can repeat. But I guess neither is having Pat Mahomes. -
I like this Hall kid, too bad no room. He just had a big block and followed up with a rebound. Simpson looking like a HOFer, coast to coast dunk no one wanted to guard him. No Liam 2night and barely Kon.
-
Simpson looking like curry this summer league. I can not tell Kon is on the court, no effect. 16 Hall like the effort.

Yeah, it's a tough spot. Not too many teams in the last 30 years have won without an elite QB. It's a tough hill to climb but QB purgatory is worse. -

That's the other thing. With the way these QB contracts are going unless you have an elite MVP caliber tier QB you're honestly better off building an offense that is geared to revolve around establishing the run and leaning on play action to setup the pass than you are to pa my some mid to lower tier starter a huge chunk of your salary cap. Let somebody else pay that guy and draft another one. -

Yeah, this was something that was bound to happen. The importance of having an elite QB will never go away entirely but these things go in waves. -

#2 rushing offense, #29 passing offense (one spot ahead of the Panthers) -

And until demonstrated otherwise, it remains a very effective way of building a playoff loser. I really wanted to see the Ravens win this year to accelerate the change. But nobody's actually won a Super Bowl with that team build in the modern era. -

somewhat bizarre for the Panthers to be ahead of the curve -
of course I finally get the time and I finally find out the hornets schedule ....... so the game before is the first OT this summer league. Missing 12 minutes of the hornets for these scrubs.

Yeah, I don't post on social media, so I would guess that is largely true.

Barnwell - Ranking WR, TE, RB Groups in NFL

I will be surprised if we ever have a HC and GM in a stable scenario that are also on the same page while he is the owner. Tepper is a finance bro. They thrive on chaos to create opportunities. -

Yep, homegrown is generally the way to go, especially in terms of the cap. I'm hoping---just hoping---that this will be our best receiving corps in a long time. We've certainly invested the draft capital. -
Rookies report 2 weeks from today.
Captain Morgan replied to Captain Morgan's topic in Carolina Panthers
because we can't edit thread titles (for some reason) I can't change this to 1 week from today, and don't want to start another thread, but one week from today rookies report. just one more week. Even the photos of them arriving, and some fluff tweets and write ups will be better than nothing. Keep pounding mfers -

Glad we didn't think of doing that...to be honest. The 90 mil is fair...I guess. -

3 safety looks? We’ll need to sign 2 more legit safeties to even attempt that. -

By several accounts, Tepper isn't as hardly as involved as he was. That's been the criticism: that he meddles. We didn't hear or see much from Tepper in the war room; he was basically trusting his team to do their thing without much participation as it pertained to wheeling and dealing. He is also saying the right things now, and, as evidenced by the formerly mentioned, following through. Earlier this year in a discussion with Mike Kaye, Tepper referred to Morgan, Canales and Brandt as a an "excellent management team." He also added, "We're just getting started, so we're just building through this year and...it's just building and building and building, and I think, you know, we'll build in the next few years." -
Yeah the Broncos defense that year was ridiculously talented no doubt. Still for how good they were we were in the game late into the fourth. Manning was a horrid passer. But we needed to try and match the intensity. The only guy we had coming close to that was Kony Ealy and that's a sad indicator. At the same time it was plainly obvious the refs were not going to give us even an inch. I haven't been as passionate about football since that game and the 2016 season opener where the league openly allowed headhunting was the final straw. The league never wanted us to win it all and they sent that message loud and clear. Sadly our owner at the time was loyal to the league to a fault even until the very end when they ousted him before Snyder. Now we're stuck with the Tepper's. Man........

This is from 5 months ago. It was one or the other. Trade for one or draft one. We apparently called the Jets about Wilson. We also talked to the Seahawks about Metcalf. Drafting our own guy was the best course of action given the required investment. Regardless now is the time for Bryce Young to produce. We are fourth amongst all teams in cap spending on the OL. Back to back first round picks at WR and multiple young TE draft picks now. Very solid and respectable backfield. New pieces across the defense. The time is now. -
That was just the worst time to have their worst game of the season. One key deal was the broncos guess the Panthers would NOT change any plays or flow to the game. Another key point overlook that bronco defense was truly one of the best in the NFL history. It was the best defense the Panthers faced that year, by far. They were not ready for it, but broncos were ready for the Panthers. Mix in that bad luck, poor refs showcase, and this is the golden boys last game........ Panthers needed to win by 20 and the broncos defense was not going to allow that. Panthers were the favorites and I believe they also thought that it was going to easier than them destroying NFC playoff teams as they marched to the SB. I've heard darin Gantt say the play calls were to give remmers help, but for some reason the team never did it. During the year they never had that problem, so maybe never practiced giving help via TE/RB, or WR chip. Cam was superman that year, no need for any adjustments...... Until you meet a legendary defense with studs at all levels, Think about it, Peyton was throwing wingless dunks for the whole season, the defense had to carry his corpse to the SB. That's how good they were, not many defense are able to get to the playoffs and win a SB without decent QB play. If you recall the beginning of that defense took Tim Teblows and his non-throwing arse to the playoffs couple years before. That's insane the level of defense needed to overcome.

Who cares if he paid for such small benefits out of his own pocket? The NCAA is a joke. They need to be offering such anyway, especially for Uber rides (which actually seems like a good idea).
