On the bright side, their backups should be in by the fourth.
-
You've got UFL guys starting on both sides of the ball. Effort's largely immaterial. They're just not good enough for the starting jobs they have.
-
It's gonna be 31-0 at halftime.
-
He'll be kept next year. Too much dead money. Let him compete for a backup job.
-
I have every expectation that whoever is drafted to replace him will be just as bad.
-
Nice tackle by Moton. Defensive end?
-
Might need to look up fewest points scored in a season and most points allowed. Both those records are on watch.
-
There's no way this team is avoiding 0-17. There's just not nearly enough talent.
-
OK, well, hold 'em under 60?
-
Is it gonna be 21-0 in the first quarter?
-
Well guys, try to hold them under 50.
-
Gonna be a historic year for all the wrong reasons.

I don't think that play should be called targeting if you're not going to call it when Raiola was hit in the pocket.

I wonder if people would still be freaking out about that if Andrew Raym went in the sixth or seventh round instead of being signed as a UDFA.

Generally the roster in August is the injury report in November.

Panthers Week 1 & Season Predictions - A Thread
Joe Bear replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
As far as season predictions, anywhere from 0 to 4 wins seems right. -
If you were ranking by lineups, I'm not sure this is a top-35 squad. A few second-string lineups are probably better. But I'll still hope for an improvement this year. No sense in throwing in the towel after a couple games.

Panthers Week 1 & Season Predictions - A Thread

I don't think 36-year-old Andy Dalton is coming out throwing 3 TDs in the second half for a come-from-behind win. I'd take that, but it has even less odds of happening than Young putting up 3 TDs in a win or close loss. -
Panthers Week 1 & Season Predictions - A Thread
Joe Bear replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
Week 1 is going to set this board on fire. It's not going to be pretty and it's best to stay away for a while, unless you prefer to drown your sorrows alongside a lot of people who'll be making as many short jokes as possible. I have negative expectations for this game, but I do think Week 2 will go better. -
That was Jerry Richardson's idea for a fight song. NFL teams had them back when he played. They don't really resonate 60-plus years later, though.
-
Paul Finebaum is a far more respected pundit than Skip Bayless. Don't count out FSU yet, but they'd better figure it out quickly. There's no margin for error.

Panthers bring Jordan Matthews back to 53-man roster

Let's goooooooooooooooooooo -
Likable guy and a respected locker-room presence who's never gonna be a star, but he's been a competent-to-above average starter for years.

As soon as I saw this thread I thought, "Ha, you're in for a surprise."

I was going to comment earlier today how I felt like this roster is probably the least-talented roster this franchise has ever assembled -- and I still believe it -- but there's definitely a vested interest from the FO to improve the defensive depth and that's one place it was absolutely needed.
