#39 nearly left the stadium he was so far off. What in the hell?

Woot Sam!
-
Time to watch this o-line closer.
-
Overall not bad from Baker. He was overexcited and there was a miscommunication.
-
I just hope our red zone play calling isn't poop.
-
So Baker is looking good as I expected. Keep it going buddy!

Don't juke during the preseason. Run in a straight line and slide if there is trouble. -

Yeah Wilson tried to juke and pulled something imo. -

He is certainly rusty as would be expected, but man those passes were trash. -

Jalen Hurts looks really good. Comfortable in the pocket, great a scrambling, and his passes are on target. Zach looks like...well.... not great. -

Watson threw a dirt ball at the feet of one receiver, and threw another pass that flew 10 feet above his intended target. He was throwing way worse than any QB in the NFL. -

Watson looked worse than Darnold, but you can't really tell much from pre-season games. -

Watson's passes were so bad that they were not even close to being completions except maybe one was dropped. -
I think we win 7 games. The Cleveland game will be fascinating to watch because we're facing a very good team without their starting QB. I think we'll squeak out a win, but if we lose then the season could go much worse than 7 wins.

Yeah I think CMC is in for a beating.

We know Baker has the arm strength and the balls to go for big plays down field. It's just a question of what his TD/INT ratio is going to be as to whether or not he's going to stick with the team. If he throws too many picks then it won't matter that he makes big plays here and there. Ultimately I think Rhule is wanting to play small ball, run it a lot, and take a few shots down field here and there rather than air it out. The problem is that those days are over. We have to air it out, and that's what worries me about Baker. I still think we're taking a QB in the 1st in 2023 and Baker and Sam won't be here next season.

Rhule won't receive a new contract if BOA goes through two more seasons of being mostly empty. The Panthers can't be known for losing and having a bad QB and still keep Rhule. Word around town has to be that we have an exciting QB and we're winners, and we're exciting to watch. This will draw in casual fans and people who want to be seen at the game, but don't care who wins. They want to be there for the hype, but not to actually watch much of the game, and leave and the end of the 3rd quarter. That element is gone, and so is just about everyone else. No good for Rhule.

Has Watson ever met a woman and not molested her? Allegedly.
-
He'll be in for a surprise with one of them then.

What would it take for you to be a fan of Rhule and Tepper?

Several seasons of having a good team that is in the mix for the playoffs. -
Baker Mayfield vs. Sam Darnold, Day 7:
pantherj replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I've thought for some time that we'll be taking a QB #1 in the 2023 draft. We jettison Sam and Baker, and go into 2023 with a competition between Corral and our 1st round pick. I HOPE Baker can get it done, but he failed in Cleveland and had a great team around him. -
I think long time Panthers fans will remember being happy with the Gamble and Lucas combo. Could CJ and Horn be our next great combo? Well Horn needs to stay healthy, and CJ needs to play with confidence in what he's supposed to be doing on any given play. We basically have two CBs who can cover any WR in the NFL well. That is an amazing situation IF Horn can stay on the field and CJ knows what he's doing.

Baker has a strong arm as evidenced by the mph data on his throws. I'm not worried at all about him throwing deep. My worry is that he's not going to have a good TD/INT ratio. I don't really want him doing many Brett Gunslinger throws into traffic, but then again that's kind of his thing. It's sort of like not wanting Cam to run, but then hoping he runs.
