Just Fields looking like hot garbage
DaveThePanther2008 replied to GOAT's topic in Carolina Panthers
Haven't week had a bunch of training camp studs that showed off in preseason yet did nothing in actual games? I thought he looked good in the 2nd half against camp fodder that probably won't make the roster. Nothing more than good college football players wearing NFL uniforms. But he did look good. Definitely something to be positive about. I don't think i am ready to vote him as ROY just yet. -
Just Fields looking like hot garbage
DaveThePanther2008 replied to GOAT's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yes they are. Darnold has show the same ability and it's been in real NFL action. I guess he doesn't get the same respect as you give a rookie with ZERO live game reps. -
Actually it made no sense at all. Lawrence as #1, Wilson was #2. Jax wasn't coming off of #1 and NYJ weren't coming off #2 so it didn't matter who they said they were going to take. Jones, Lance or Peter Pan it wouldn't have matter because no one could trade above them for Lance. Nothing but a side show and F with the mock draft gurus.

Nothing more exciting than seeing a great college QB beating a bunch of college players hopefuls trying to make a team. He looks good but it's not like he's runnng with the 1st. -

Absolutely right, That said. The hype that he has been getting before he has ever taken a regular season snap is out of this world too. All we've heard all season is how great he has been in camp. -
Matt Rhule after SECOND Joint Practice with the Colts
DaveThePanther2008 replied to SBBlue's topic in Carolina Panthers
Agreed, and I don't think Rhule implied that our starting (quote unquote) offenisve line won't start on Sunday. Even if they do, I would not expect to see them more than a series or two. We have to decide who we are keeping depth wise. -
Matt Rhule after SECOND Joint Practice with the Colts
DaveThePanther2008 replied to SBBlue's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is why most teams, apparently not the Colts, wait until the regular season to start. They get a half to utilize their exotic blitzes without tape. The opposing team then has halftime to try and figure out what to do. Probably without much success. I was surprised to hear the Rhule say the Colts were running exotic blitzes. -
Matt Rhule after SECOND Joint Practice with the Colts

Dumbist comment of the day, hands down. Instead, of whining about not seeing him you should understand that the Preseason games mean nothing. Vanilla offenses and Vanilla defenses. I've had the opportunity to watch 4 preseason games and they are a bunch of field goals and nothing very exciting. I also haven't seen any starting QBs in the game. Preseason is about evaluation of your team. Not much more. Did you listen to what Rhule had to say? 1. There are a lot of guys on the bubble and some are getting cut. We'll see what they have. 2. He's said the ones got plenty of work Thursday and Friday and no need to play him Sunday. 3. Said he would play the 3rd preseason game for sure. I suspect that he will not play next week as well for the same reason. He'll have two good practices against the Ravens. -

Darnold just spent two days against the Colts defense. He learned plenty. IMO sitting Darnold in a worthless preseason game against a team he just spent two days with is smart. -
It's awesome. Donte looking good and DJ Moore is also looking good.

Bleacher Report article mentioning Darnold.
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Tr3ach's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is what I felt. Darnold wasn't as sharp as he has been lately and Newton is reaching for clicks so he makes this BS comment. -
Bleacher Report article mentioning Darnold.
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Tr3ach's topic in Carolina Panthers
Definitely fact check true. I think this is potentially the most potent and talented offense the Panthers have put on the field in a long time if not ever. As you mentioned, If Darnold gets comfortable defensive coordinators are going to have more than Darnold to figure out how to stop. -
Guess who is now eligible for the Hall of Fame?
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
None of them won the triple crown (not many do) None of them were as dangerous a player as Smitty. I would love to see a survey of coaches and ask them of the four players who they had the most difficult time preparing for. Odds are Smitty. Outside of Moose who were Smitty's running mates. No one really. These other WR had complimentary receivers. Finally, I'll match 89 highlight reel to anyone you want. He was a beast and was feared. And the most quotable WR among them. ICE UP SON So EPIC -
Curious how many threads in Jets forums are saying "We shoulda kept Sam"?

A couple of things. This to start^ It's kind of hard for DE's to get much notoriety in camp because the QB is dressed in Red. We hear about the "it would have been a sack" now and then but mostly we hear "great pass but he would have been sacked in a real game". YGM played well for a rookie last year and I see no reason why he won't continue to grow. That said when you bring in a free agent you expect him to start. Fox and Burns as well as Riddick are going to cause havoc. This will be a great year for YGM because he has good talent in front of him and can continue to learn and grow. 2022 it will be Burns and YGM.

Is he the newest Avenger? When is his pilot movie coming out?

ESPN's Preseason FPI Rankings
DaveThePanther2008 replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
New Orleans at 16? Who is going to be their QB? Mr. Turnover or Mr. Go Go Gadget? Brees was always good for 2 or 3 extra wins a year. I don't see JW winning those extra games. -
Looking at the most recent depth chart (taken with a grain of salt) I can see possibly four or five of those picks ending up on the PS. Pride, STO from 2020 and Hoskins, Fletcher and Smith from 2021. Our depth at WR is crazy and it's possible the Smith would be the odd man out. Probably not just because he probably wouldn't last long but POSSIBLE Fletcher if they decide to keep JJ one more season Hoskins as our depth at DT is pretty solid STO and Pride could go (if eligible) Question is, who if any doesn't last on the PS and is picked up by someone else. IMO Pride and Smith are probably the most in danger.

Will Steve Smith be a First Ballot HOF?
DaveThePanther2008 replied to SBBlue's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm all in on first ballot. He was probably the most feared WR of his era. He terrorized DBs and DC for most of his 16 seasons. A rare triple crown winner in 2005. His highlight reel i could watch over and over again. I won't be shocked if he doesn't get in but If I were a betting man (which I'm not) I'd bet he gets in first ballot. -
So sad. RIP Cosmo Girl. In 2003, I started working overseas and in 2005 I went to the Minnesota / Carolina game. Prior to the game I communicated with a fellow Panther fan and they invited me and my date to join them at their tailgate party. They had a nice Carolina Panther Van and they treated us so well. Not long after that visit, maybe a year, the gentleman passed away. So sad, not only an avid Panther fan but a great man (and his wife). I cannot for the life of me remember his name but it's terrible when we lose part of our Panther family. Of course everyone remembers Cat Man. I actually got a picture with him and my family after one of the games we went to. To the rest of us, I pray for health and happiness as we fight through this crazy pandemic. Please stay safe.

I don't necessarily agree that Darnold isn't a good candidate but I do agree that our depth at QB would prevent us from utilizing it. Some of Sam's runs from his days in NY shows he has the ability to make plays with his feet. If we do utilize it, it is imperative that he understands to slide and not push for extra yardage like Cam used to. Just Slide Baby,

Riot Report gives reasons for optimism on Arnold
DaveThePanther2008 replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
True, but if Tremble turns out to be a solid TE you, as you say, keep your drafted talent. Paying two top dollar TE is tough in this age of the salary cap. -
It also gives the QB the option to run the ball as well.

Riot Report gives reasons for optimism on Arnold
DaveThePanther2008 replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
Darnold to Arnold should have Chris Berman drooling. If Arnold and CMC become Darnold's safety net our only major concern will be if our O-Line can hold up long enough to utilize them. My only worry is that he develops into a Olsen Clone but leave after his 2 year deal. Hopefully, Tremble will develop into a good TE giving us the opportunity to let him walk after 2022. -
I wouldn't say all. Big Ben, Rodgers and Brady just to name a few. Darnold is young and is maneuverable with decent speed. You call it at the right time it could be a game changer.
