The Charlotte Golden Corral might go out of business now

I'm not sure who Moore would bring with him staff wise and I think that scared Tepper considering what happened with Matt Rhule's staff. Reich is about as polar opposite as you can get from Matt Rhule. While Rhule's staff was maybe the least professionally experienced coaching staff in the history of the NFL. Reich's staff will be full of coaches with tons of NFL experience. Because Reich has been around the NFL for a long time, there's a lot of coaches he is familiar with. Kellen Moore's staff, who knows. Maybe Fangio's interest cooled off earlier than we realized and that nudged the decision towards Reich. I have a feeling if Fangio was on board, they might have rolled the dice with Moore. Fangio might not have wanted to work with Reich since he's an older more experienced coach as well. Fangio would have had influence over someone like Kellen Moore but maybe not Reich who is set in his ways. Who knows. But I think it came down to the staff.

There is a difference between "rigged", meaning the entire game is predetermined, and "nudged", meaning the NFL attempts to influence the outcome. The NFL is not "rigged" so to say. The NFL is, however, 100% influencing games for their own reasons, whatever they may be. Tim Donaghy proved that a professional sports league (the NBA) would willingly influence games. He claimed the NBA put out memos to referee certain players differently than others. The fans don't pay money to come see a game and see a star player on the bench. Players like Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, are officiated differently than regular lower level players. The NFL works the same way. Advantages are given to star players and marketable teams. Preferred storylines to create media coverage will be nudged. The NFL doesn't write the script. But they are making edits.

CMC was probably miserable on the Panthers. It's no surprise he stayed healthy playing for the 49ers who had a legit shot at a Superbowl this season. Depending on what the 49ers do at QB they might be the favorite for a title next season. It is still a good trade for both sides.

Not retaining Tabor would be a huge mistake. Campen should stay as well. I think they'll get it done.
-
The referees 100% nudge games in the direction they want. It’s a proven fact.

QB coach yes

They've already interviewed a bunch of coordinator candidates from the way it seems and other candidates we don't even know about that weren't announced publicly. Surprised the Panthers were that diligent interviewing assistants before the head coach was even hired. Does make me wonder if Reich was the guy all along....

Only reason has to be something we do not know
-
As long as there is a top drafted rookie QB waiting to take over I couldn’t care less who the bridge QB is.
-
Sounds like Tabor is coming back or he’s at least gonna offer him the job. Solid move. If Campen can stay that would be wonderful too.

David Tepper loves Pennsylvania and its people. Matt Rhule obviously had ties to PA. So did Ben McAdoo. Director of player personnel Pat Stewart and cap manager Samir Suleiman? PA ties. Im sure the list goes deeper but I don’t care to dig that much. Guess who also grew up in Lebanon PA? That’s right new head coach FRANK REICH! Steve Wilks you might want to change your lawsuit to be location you spent time in your life prejudice, because you might have a case!

Colts Free Agency the Panthers/Reich may want to pursue
hepcat replied to trueblade's topic in Carolina Panthers
Couldn't agree more and unless I hear from the Rams that that's not what they actually offered I'll always think Fitterer was a fool for not taking that deal. Very very few players are worth what the Rams offered, even franchise QBs. Look at what the Broncos dealt for Russell Wilson and the results he delivered....insane they didn't take that. And now they have to pay Burns BUCO dollars to keep him. Any good GM could have replaced Burns with one of those picks AND had the other 2 picks to boot. So damn stupid. Not trading DJ Moore, now that I understand. He is on a reasonable contract and the 1st round pick would have had to have been used to replace him. Not really worth it IMO. -
I'm sure this was brought up internally and Wilks told them to pound sand. I like Wilks as a guy and as an assistant coach but I don't think he would have been a success as a HC especially under a noob like Tepper. The Panthers needed some outside perspective and an NFL veteran to teach David Tepper how to win in the NFL. Frank Reich has been in the NFL in some capacity as a player or coach for almost 40 years. Tepper was still buying bad bonds for Goldman Sachs when Reich was playing in the NFL.

Too late to sell Burns I'd assume, that ship sailed. One of the big reasons I think Fitterer messed up and should be replaced. Two 1st and a high 2nd, huge price to pay for a tweener pass rusher -
Whoa now there's someone I didn't think would be working for the Panthers again but I guess anything is possible now!!!

Wilks was just a grown ass man compared to Matt Rhule and the players responded to him. No one respected Rhule and he shouldn’t have ever been hired. He should have been fired after 2021. We could have had Brian Daboll for Christ sake. But in the end Wilks was brought in to establish some kind of legitimacy on an amateur staff so it wasn’t hard to raise the bar from one of the worst teams in the NFL under Rhule to a mediocre team under Wilks. But when the games started to matter at the end of the year, Wilks’s defense started to look worse, he made critical in game mistakes, and overall I don’t think he had what it took to take the team to the next level based on the decisions he made while interim head coach.
-
Wish nothing but the best for Wilks and I’m sure he’s super bummed he didn’t get the job. He will now probably go to the Falcons and try to stick it to the Panthers twice a year for passing on him.
-
What’s ridiculous to me is they let Rasul Douglas and Eli Apple leave, Douglas had some early success on the Panthers, and both ended up solid players on playoff teams the very next season! That’s not on Fitterer exactly but he was the GM when it came time to retain at least Douglas.

It is true. Nice to have a HC with real NFL connections to build a staff. Matt Rhule was such a massive failure of a hire, maybe one of the worst in NFL history.
