  1. Young will lead the league in leaving the pocket and throwing it away OB. Stuff I was afraid I would see, I am seeing.
  2. All the ex players that have expressed approval for Young and Reich and staff have me a little curious. I don’t believe they were blowing company smoke when they praised, so what were they looking at? Are they all that wrong? Everyone wanted offensive coach… I am hearing tons of moaning and complaining oh now the defense sucks. It amuses me on some level, I do admit. But as far as offensive people out there I thought Reich was acceptable as a choice so I am looking around wondering what is going on too, really. What I have seen since he got into the job doesn’t really strike me as displaying a commanding presence… or maybe I am trying to say I don’t get the vibe of big time leader slash winner. That is all intangible type stuff so who that isn’t involved with it is qualified to say what that looks like…. Not me really. It is easy to understand questions being raised with the team looking bad.
  3. I believe he very much lacks patience and wouldn’t be surprised if he took another decade to learn at least some. Doesn’t make him evil, just flawed. I’d much rather his flaw be never being around.
  4. Ultimately you want players with a strong enough game to have success even if the other team knows what is coming and we just don’t have that or if we do, they haven’t had enough time together to show it I am not sure about stunts but think they aren’t really game planning and need to be practiced in live conditions too. So the team needs to get that worked out. It is probably a good thing in the long run, being tested like that. It is a practice game after all. I believe there is a head in t(e sand type of rationalization from fans why they couldn’t move the ball and couldn’t keep the other team from doing it.
  5. Ekwanu is no longer a rookie, he doesn’t need his hand held any more if he ever did. But he knows where to have his laundry done now and where to eat and where to get his sound system and rims and jewelry and has his financial advisor set. All that getting settled stuff. He needs NFL playing help now. I think probably quite a bit of it; he is moving into advanced pass blocking. I don’t know how much Erving is gonna help him with that. His value might be back to being more tied to his on field contributions.
  6. Yep. Wait until number two at least. The warning light doesn’t come on because a green player made a mistake, it comes on when they don’t learn from them.
  7. What is concerning is they thought that. They being management and the staff. Maybe Zavala will be something more than even the semi realistic thinking optimists expect.
  8. Dumb fugs that shitted me can’t figure there was a joke. hot. Ice. Idiots.
  9. It has been a long time, did they know he had elite talent at the time they began helping him?
  10. Maybe they traded him. For a bag of ice.
  11. I think Rivera knew the team wouldn’t be successful fast enough. Changing schemes, teaching the organization to scout and evaluate from a 3-4 perspective, etc, it was gonna take time he didn’t have. And (correctly) figured he was helping to dig his own grave, but had no way to avoid it and remain employed.
  12. Rivera had run both, successfully. So I got it on that front. I thought a lot of him as a coach when he was hired. Not as much after that abrupt (and seemingly impulsive) 3-4 switch and since he went to DC.
  13. Tepper and his lengths…. I believed then and still believe we were in a 3-4 D because the Steelers ran one and Rivera liked being Head Coach. We may be doing that now for all I know. I mean, we don’t know what conditions Reich was willing to agree to get the job. I find it amusing that they are essentially still on the patented Rhule 7 year plan, Rhule just won’t be here for it (not complaining about that). If you think about it, that Rhule guy was smart. Don’t over promise, don’t mess around and have to backtrack off your 5 year schedule in year 3. That is a bad look. Better to get that out of the way up front, and you won’t have to revise it again 8 years after year 5. (Supposed to be tongue in cheek humor, for the ones reaching for the poo icon).
  14. Saw him playing patty cake with a blocker too. You are supposed to knock the hell out of them.
  15. The Panthers broadcast team… sorry Smitty, I love you man, but it was horrible. That, combined with a lack of transcendent talent on the field, made me disengage from a game I have been waiting months for. Couldn’t make myself finish the game.
  16. I don’t know what to think about Corral myself, honestly. He hasn’t made a case for himself that will not allow people to ignore his game. That is what a guy in his position has to do: be so good they can’t ignore you. Even though I am not sure about Corral, this forum has so many quarterback experts that I am not worried, they already have it all figured out. As far as professional quarterback experts, Reich most certainly is familiar with Corral, he has to be, There is little doubt he was scouted by Indy when Reich was in charge (and in dire need of a quarterback after being screwed by Luck quitting on them with no notice). I am thinking he just doesn’t see a lot there to work with. Maybe it is incompatibility with the system Reich wants to run, maybe he just doesn’t see the talent he needs to see to get behind him.
  17. Go watch Cam when he was healthy and see what you think. I don’t think Bryce Young is that. But not measuring up to that doesn’t necessarily put him in bad company. I think if Young pans out he is gonna be a thorn in the side of teams (and fan bases especially). He is gonna be the pest that you just can’t get rid of. Avoids setting off the traps but your cheese is gone. Doesn’t scare you with his big arm or speed, dinks and dunks the whole game, but you look up at the scoreboard and he is winning by 4 points.
  18. No one thought Corral looked good though, even his mother. If people are defensive about someone questioning his performance they maybe aren’t looking at it honestly. He’ll have his chance (look at the number of ‘I thought he was out of the league’ QBs still on a roster). Besides, I have this perverted fantasy that something will happen with Young and Corral gets in and pulls a win out of a lost cause and all of a sudden QB controversy - 3rd round scrub vs #1 golden boy. That would be some solid gold message board entertainment right there, I bet a ton of people would instantly hate him. Or hate themselves for liking him… or something like that.
  19. I binge watched the ‘15 season last week. That defense says hello (the second half of a few games suffered from preventitis but man Luke, TD, Norman and the rest of the guys were legit dangerous).
  20. Yet there will be weak spots. As to the op question, work in progress with much potential. They could benefit at first from facing underdeveloped offenses that ran out of preseason, and the lack of film people will have on them (just preseason stuff from this year). I expect a work in progress that progresses if healthy, and by the end of the year could be pretty jelled. Too many guys transitioning positions or techniques though, for me to think it will be easy and smooth and great right away. Worried mostly about run stopping when playing teams that value running backs, and the depth and health in the secondary.
  21. I am gonna guess Withers was computer spelled, and yeah, Stroud is with the team that Lovie screwed out of the first pick. They are a legit trainwreck of a team and have a very young first time head coach who has a lot of seasoning to absorb. Anyone coming to Carolina was ahead in the rebuilding and coaching up game by a major margin.
  22. I rewatched the entire '15 season after watching the '03 team and that superbowl. Turned off the '15 season SB after the strip sack. Cam was fully formed that year, and was great. What an arm. He sailed that pass 5 or 6 ft over Philly Brown's wide open head in the biggest game, I knew it was going to be one of those type days. He was So good that season. Moving forward, he was primed to dominate. What happened with his career sucked.
  23. So, reading is a go. That's good. Understanding what you read, still needs a lot of work. Stick with it.
  24. That trade/non trade of Burns is a good debate. Those firsts from LA could have been gold. At the same time we have Evero coming in with a new defense that promises, if successful, to maximize the impact of a Burns type player. I understand both viewpoints and probably fall on the side of keeping him only because of the current scenario.
