Do you trust Reich to find us (and develop) a franchise QB?

Another safe pick. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. But, I probably wouldn't like it. I know that I wouldn't love it. -
I am skeptical that he can out-coach the better coaches of the league based upon some boneheaded, ill-advised plays in the past, but we will see.
-
Because it's safe, and most people don't want to risk upsetting the applecart.

I really don't have the slightest idea what to expect to be honest. -
They haven't won in awhile though, and they've also made subtle changes over the years depending upon personnel. You have to do that. You can't use JuJu like AB for example. The big play offense is gone...for now. I expect they'll upgrade their receivers and we'll see a switch.
-
Expect Reich to develop players around the scheme as opposed to developing a scheme around players' strengths. And I think that this mindset will seep into general play calling as well situational play calling.
-
I never said that young guys did not have a lot to prove, but you pretty much know what you're getting with Reich or Wilks: if you're lucky, something above mediocrity but probably not great. They've both been out-coached by some of the better minds in the game. Young minds came up watching different game and may develop more innovative approaches due to their different perspectives. You'll never land the McVays, Shanahans or Siriannis of the world if all you tend to do is go the safe, conservative route.
-
That's debatable. Reich isn't exactly a poster child for sustained excellence. He has a LOT to prove.
-
He had several as you know. He never won the division. Luck? No. Rivers? No. Brissett? No. Brissett arguably looked better as a Brown. Ryan looked better in Atlanta. Reich is supposed to be the offensive guru. He's made questionable decisions as HC, and his offense looked like a mess under Ryan.
-
I agree, but the team still underwhelmed when it came down to crunch time. Also, the team never won a division championship under his leadership...against so-so competition.
-
That's all good, I think that at some point you have to realize that you can't blame Luck's departure for all of Frank Reich's failures in Indy.
-
I mean, good interview, but Reich is going to have to prove that he can take us to that top tier. That's what I'm looking for, a coach who will have us threatening for a playoff spot every year, and legitimately contending for a Super Bowl during those years when the personnel has the potential of making that happen. I don't know if Reich is or isn't that guy because of his so-so track record as HC, which I can't just all put on Irsay and Ballard.

Coaching Interview Thread IV: A New Hope
top dawg replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
"New hope" my @$$! -
Vermeil, Reid, Levy & Pedersen were pretty successful before their second gigs. In a way, Parcells and Carrol l were too. There was plenty of evidence that they were good coaches and shouldn't have been axed. Perhaps Reich is of that same ilk, but perhaps not. I wouldn't abhor the hire, but won't be jumping for joy either.
-
And that's my problem with the whole idea of Reich. I can see us being in the same predicament in three years. If we hire him, I hope he proves me wrong.
-
Reich! How fuging exciting!
-
Moore calls way too many pass plays. Yesterday's game mirrored lots of their games. The game never got out of hand score-wise, but yet Moore forgot how to call running plays. If he would be more committed to the run, that would take pressure off of Dak and possibly settle him down, and keep him from making stupid decisions.
-
It should make anyone think.
-
It doesn't sound like a good idea to me...at all.

https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/2023/01/23/panthers-hc-candidate-sean-payton-scheduled-2nd-interview-broncos/ I think it's all but a done deal.
-
Yeah, IMO, they lost because Allen wasn't good enough, and play calling. Also, the Bengals are just a superior team.
-
I have pondered Buffalo's run game as well (as I was stuck with Singletary also), and honestly...I think it has less to do with the actual talent of their backs, and more about the play calling, and also the way that they built their RB room. Their backs are all smallish, with good speed. But, at the same time, they have respectable averages and can catch the ball. Buffalo has effectively acquired the same back though they have mainly three RBs. Even still, you have to be able to run between the tackles, and I've seen Singletary and Hines do that credibly enough to keep defenses honest. Buffalo's run game appears underwhelming because of the play calling and their choice to rely on Allen as opposed to their backs, and there's not enough diversity in their RB room due to choices that they have made which in theory holds their ground and pound game back as well.

Watching Jalen Hurts sort of hurts.....
top dawg replied to YourLastThought's topic in Carolina Panthers
Coaches play a huge part in the success or failure of football players. Moreover, the notion that players should play right away, particularly QBs, can have profound effect upon the suceea or failure of players as well. Time, patience and coaching means a lot in the success or failure for players. -
