  1. He's never been that special. He can block a little bit now though, but nothing Band-Aids can't do.
  2. I mean, I'd take JPP or Griffen, but talking about possibly expensive Band-Aids. I could be wrong, but I don't think you'd get the best return on your investment with those guys. I think that the younger guys would be a better investment in the short and long term.
  3. 2-4? 5-7 is our floor. Hell, all we have to do is split with Atlanta and New Orleans to get to 2. The Giants, Lions and Seahawks should provide another 3. And if Baker is worth a damn, he should be able to find 4 more wins somewhere. And, honestly, we should be able to beat the Falcons twice (and maybe the Saints).
  4. We have been looking to bolster the line, now we just need to make it happen. We weren't deep to begin with. It kinda seems funny to be talking like Haynes is a key player and his potential loss is big, but he's simply productive when on the field. We need to make sure there's a next man up that can actually contribute if not replace him. I'd be looking at three guys: -Takk McKinley (only 26, and maybe the most likely to fill a Haynes role) -Trey Flowers (might cost the most, but probably doesn't deserve it) -Carl Nassib (29, like Flowers, and should be the cheaper option) Thoughts!
  5. Both Cam and Ryan went to the Super Bowl. They didn't get it done. You can argue coaching was the main reason why if you want, but in my opinion, it was more about other things, including QB play, personnel, and bad calls (in our case). As for Stafford, his lack of success was more about personnel than anything else. He played with suspect RBs and maybe even suspect receivers for the lion's share of his time in Motown. Now I'm not saying that coaching doesn't play a part in success, but a lack of quality personnel will kill any team and stymie the QB to a degree. But I think we have enough here for a veteran QB that's worth his salt to get us over .500 in my opinion. I guess, what I'm saying is that true franchise QBs don't let coaches stop them from elevating the team (unless they're Aaron Rodgers coached by Matt LeFleur in the NFC championship). If the team is good, they'll put them in contention (provided the QB has the practical playing experience to do so). If a team is poo, then even a franchise QB will still look like lipstick on a pig. I don't think we're a pig.
  6. How can Rhule do that if Mayfield is all that and a bag of chips? I haven't seen a coach who can take a veteran QB who is worth a damn and make them losers. If Baker can play at a high level, he will play at a high level despite a bad coach. We're not talking an inexperienced rookie QB who has been messed up here. Now, of course, if you don't think Baker is all that, and just some middling to mediocre QB who is suspect to turn the ball over, then I could see your pessimism, but Rhule won't be the reason for that either. If Baker can play, he'll play! No excuses!
  7. Just roll the dice. You know you want to. Unless you really believe that CMC is going to be on ice for the better part of the next three seasons, you gotta trade for him.
  8. To be fair, Rhule has already said similar things in his interviews. Hearing it on the D-L from other sources has merit because you bypass the coach-speak.
  9. Yeah, but are you hearing it from an insider, or are you just trying to strum up some clicks?
  10. I'm a fan of Tepper (I'm not not a fan). Rhule? He's got to start winning and field a team where guys that deserve to play are playing, and guys that don't are benched (before it's just a necessity due to injuries). Rhule must coach appropriately as well. If I get the sense that he's just going through the motions, or is unable to adapt, I will lead the "firing squad" myself. This is year three. No excuses!
  11. We'll know more about the competition by Monday. Just generally, I get the feel that Baker is fighting for it, and Sam is just going through his motions. This might just be their natural demeanor. That being the case, the competition might just be over. It's not over 'til the fat man--err, maybe not-so-fat-man--calls it though.
  12. Yeah, I'm staying away from the Kool-Aid at least until October.
  13. That's actually hilarious. Sam Darnold's class is "Sam Darnold"
  14. Sorry, but I have to take what Rhule is saying into account. Perhaps it's coach-speak, but I doubt it. There's a ways to go yet. Between 11 on 11s, blitz drills and preseason, it's to early to draw a conclusion.
  15. Well that's kind of the point. It's only one play of many. He got beat, but he closed well, and honestly even if the ball was placed to the outside, Robbie is probably headed out of bounds even after the completion. Robbie may have been initially looking for Baker to come back to the inside, I don't know, but I think that a better camera angle would give us a better perspective.
  16. It's not as cut-and-dried as some make it out to be. We're only talking day 2 and 7 on 7s. It's going to be a process, but Mayfield's start is promising.
  17. Henderson has reportedly been doing well the entire camp though, so much so that even 89 gave him some props.
  18. Hell, I brought this up when he signed his contract. He needs to score more which will hopefully happen. He has scoring on his radar per earlier interviews.
  19. A much better bet, and an exponentially better deal than Darnold. That (and the Baker trade) is how you work the system. Wait until after he shows well during 2022, and then exercise that 5th year option in 2023.
  20. Robbie is on mission this year, as is Baker. It should make for some good fireworks once Baker takes over.
  21. That's water under the bridge. Robbie explained it. What's more impressive is that in his interview with Josina Anderson, Robbie told you that he was going to do his best to help Mayfield succeed. It's only day 2, but I'd say that Robbie is a man of his word.
