  1. I don't attribute much of my grading to super bowl wins for QB's or Coaches...however, playoff wins can be a little closer to the truth, especially when talking about coaches. Tomlin, while a good coach, has had the backing of the best run team in all of football, as well as a proven vet franchise QB...and has managed the same amount of playoff wins as the panthers over the last 10 years. I mean, we can move around that all we like, but that is a glaring stat. He's better than any coach we have had...I think, looking back Foxy was a good coach, but was stuck with a bad franchise, and a mess at the QB position for a while...things that Tomlin has never had to deal with.
  2. What's your reasoning? My hunch? In the past decade they have won the same amount of playoff games as the Panthers.
  3. He won't. I don't have to concern myself. If he does stay however, I'll not be watching, buying gear, supporting the team, or certainly not traveling to the away game or two I usually make. I'll move on until we have another owner, or Tepper decides to take the football side of things seriously.
  4. As soon as Marty and Ron, but especially Marty, were kept on, I had a pretty bad feeling about the direction of the team. It's worse than I thought it would be.
  5. As I mentioned in another thread...Tepper has been flat out sold on Hurney, Ron, and Rhule. That's a bad sign, and likely one that will not get better. He needs help, badly.
  6. None of those things make me trust Tepper a little more even in the least.
  7. Block me, or point out the good he's done since taking over.
  8. Lowering fan excitement. Upping fan apathy. Lowering the number of Panthers fans in the stadium. Killing our once great cap situation. Trading away our future assets. I'd say he's accomplished a LOT.
  9. I disagree so much with this mantra. You can make mistakes, no doubt....but to be fooled, that's differnet. He was bamboozled by one of the worst GM's of the last 3 decades, and a college coach from a non powerhouse. That's not just making mistakes, that's all but intentionally sinking your business. If this were an actual business, the stock price would be tumbling.
  10. People have to earn my trust, I rarely give it out. Tepper not only failed to earn my trust, he likely made it impossible to ever earn my trust. He has not made a single good decision since he became the owner of the Panthers. Please don't say "got rid of the shield", that is complete BS that only weirdo fans would appreciate.
  11. Yea, there is a LOT to unrap with him...IMO. Also, how much was covered up due to him being King of Castle in college. P.S. I don't ever subscribe to hiring Reid's OC's.
  12. One you can explain away as "not being a meddling owner", the other is very tough to overcome...it's just an outright admission of failure. When there has been a choice to be made, Dave Tepper has made the wrong one each and every time.
  13. Money isn't and won't be the issue. Ego is, and will continue to be. I don't think Dave want's to look this stupid in front of all his "owner buddies" next time in Miami. I'm assuming that most of the owners and GM's smiled and told Dave "bless your heart" when he hired Rhule...knowing the likely outcome.
  14. Star was a fantastic player, loved him. Wish we had kept him.
  15. You can be a "rah rah" guy in college and win with no QB, especially in the weaker conferences. Rah Rah don't work in the pro's, and you can't win without a good to great QB here. He's in over his head, and knows it.
  16. Tepper...once again duped by a traveling "cure all" salesman. Marty was first, and Ron, now Rhule. It kinda sucks when your owner can afford to be so bad at his job, while also thinking that he's doing it well.
  17. Positional value is so important in the NFL. We tend not to value it very much.
  18. As one of my bosses used to tell me.... Hope is not a method of completion. I have lost all hope of this team being well run...can't believe it only took 25 years.
  19. I think that correct question is.... Does David Tepper understand the NFL? So far, he has proven not to understand a single thing about the NFL. The next question is.... Is David Tepper smart enough to stay out of the way of something in which he knows nothing about? So far, no. He has been the root cause for this failure, and will likely continue on his path. I have zero faith in the man.
  20. I'm not a Fields guy, but that's not the point here. Rhule and Tepper preached one thing, and did the other. Said the right things, acted differently. I also disagree with Teddy being OK, but that's just me...we didn't have to try to win that first year, and yet we did.
  21. The thing here, is it was avoidable. Most here could see a dead in the water GM that should have never been here, a rookie owner who has no clue what he's doing, and the hiring of a college coach, who got one of the bigger contracts in the entire NFL....many thought that this would fail. Hell, if you didn't you don't pay attention to the NFL. How did Tepper not see it? I'm serious. How?
  22. Short answer? No. However, the good news is....we are primed for a total rebuild with tons of cap space and a new GM...right when the rest of the division is heading toward major shakeups. Oh poo...that's not true...we were primed for a perfect rebuild and the coach, that the owner hired and gave way too much power to, thought we were ready to win now and treated his cap space and future picks that way. Now we must start all over again, since we didn't do it correctly the first time. Tepper needs to hire someone that truly understands the NFL, and allow them and Fitt to run the show. He HAS to get away from this team. He has proven that if there is a decision to be made, he will make the wrong choice.
