That's all this was for Dillon. They're cutting him early to give him a chance to make another team. He ain't gonna make this squad, so they did him a solid. It's a numbers game. If he doesn't get picked up, then he'll be on the PS or quick dial if there's a RB injury.

REPORT: Panthers changed the offense 3 times last season
Navy_football replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yall are so goofy sometimes with your tin hat theories, stemming from a wholehearted disdain for the current QB1. So they changed the offense 3 times before they saw Bryce play in it, because Bryce couldn't play in it? Let that sink in for a sec. Just relax and give the guy a chance. A real chance. Not last season's chance. That was crap from the beginning. Well, appears to have been crap since before the beginning. Reality is probably closer to disagreements in scheme and play design. Also, there may have been an idea of whether or not they were designing an offense for a rookie vs a 13 year vet. There is a difference, as alluded to in the article. Perhaps they were creating an offense for Dalton, but Tepper forced them to play Bryce even though he wasn't ready for that playbook. I can see that. But I'll say this. Yall are consistent. I always know what to expect. Bryce can't throw downfield, deep outs, over the middle, and he's too slow and easy to tackle. How in the heck did this guy win a Heisman as an underclassman, or become the top QB recruit in his class, and the #1 pick in the draft? He's been scheming the system since middle school. Had them all fooled except you. Gotcha. -
Right. I said he but I meant they. A couple of plays won't make a difference. A full half probably could. Ideally 2nd and 3rd quarters after adjustments too.
-
Yeah but 1 or 2 series probably won't make a difference, other than confidence (good or bad). Now if he was playing for a full half, now we're talking.

BREAKING: Panthers sign veteran O-lineman
Navy_football replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
This guy is for practice only. He'll be dropped or replaced as soon as another better option comes along. -
Well... injuries are aren't always an accumulation of things. They're often freak accidents almost. I guess the idea is to limit the opportunities for those freak accidents.
-
I could sworn he did that once last season in a short yards situation. The defense was like "where the Hell is he"
-
I hear you. He doesn't have a big arm. But it's good enough in my opinion. If he can complete throws against Jaycee and Sauce, then his arm talent is good enough to complete passes on anyone. But agree, he doesn't have the type of arm to turn to the 3rd read and launch it 50-60 yards in the NFL. To be fair, a deep threat/jump ball receiver is usually needed for those too.

Forgot about that one.

Yeah I don't think that's true. There probably isn't a poster on this forum that hasn't had a negative comment about Bryce, Mingo, TMJ, Ian, Chuba and Ickey (and every OG from last season). As far as Bryce goes, I think there are a couple of categories. Stans: really not stans as much as undecided due to only playing 1 year in league on a really bad team/supporting cast. They're actually a shaky group. A lot of on the fence. I'm included here. Ops: 1. He doesn't have the physical tools to ever be successful. 2. He's supposed to raise the level of everyone else on offense, so no excuses. 3. Just don’t like him (hair, laugh, stutter, not a leader, etc.)
-
Um, No. Just... no.
-
I think Mingo had a juke during the game against Houston but I can't remember another player/time all season. They'd just catch and fall or run out of bounds. Hopefully Bryce has cleaned some things up. But honestly no one will care if he's completing passes. I'm more concerned with him staying aggressive and continuing to take shots downfield.
-
I'm not worried about the QB right now. If he plays, great. If not... I get it. Would rather see Bryce out there a few drives but I understand why they don't want to risk it yet. I really want to see the starting oline against the Jets starters. I want to see Carolinas starting dline stop the run and create pressure. Also want to see some WRs run after the catch. I know y'all ain't gone like this, but the only player that juked a guy in the open field last year was the QB. Hot take: wide receivers used to be smaller and shifty players for a reason. I prefer a Stefon Diggs over DK.

Camp Observations: Turnovers define the dayÂ
Navy_football replied to Carolina Panthers's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think early on he underestimated the speed of the NFL. But after a couple of games, guys weren't easily just running him down when he escaped the pocket. He's actually a pretty good running QB. Not fast or big, but very elusive. He's shown a unique ability to make guys miss in the open field. Enough where it's an actual thing, not an anomoly. But scrambling and creating something out of nothing (passes) when the play breaks down is probably why he was picked #1 overall. Otherwise, they would have definitely chosen Stroud or even AR. That's the part of his game that you can't teach and what he's probably better at than his classmates - at least in college. -

Groins and hamstrings are like the worst friggin injuries. They take forever and probably won't feel "right" for the rest of the season. Next men up. -

And half of the $150M Body Guards. No DJ, no XL, no Damien Lewis, Hunt went out for awhile, and the TEs were short manned. I'd say they should be much better when healthy. Throw in a 2nd round RB by week 4 and who knows? -

Really? I don't remember it that way. Weren't they getting to Bryce with stunts and delayed blitzes all day. So much so that Reich had to stop the second practice early or something? -
