This team has fielded the worst offenses I've ever seen for the last 5 years. Why are we complaining when the team is finally making the right moves to begin to join the modern day NFL? This defense wasn't that good. They looked better than they were statistically because the offense was so bad. Teams scored when they needed to.

Agree. But if they replace him with Queen, then I'm not too mad about that anymore.

BREAKING: Giants looking to trade for Brian Burns
Navy_football replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I wouldn't call them d bags. That's a little harsh. But only elite QBs are really worth 2 first rounders and a second. Burns was never gonna live up to that haul. Heck, 13 sacks a season wouldn't have been enough to justify that.- 543 replies

The Real Reason This Trade is So Bad
Navy_football replied to tukafan21's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yep. He'll have to live way outside of the city to get home prices even remotely close to North Carolina. Metro makes the most cents (I meant to do that). -

Well, that works too! Bring on Ladd and VP. Can he be had for the 3rd? -

And knowing the guy wouldn't sign for less than $30M a year. He turned down $27M a year to pick up and move to a state with higher home prices, higher gas prices and higher income taxes. In the end, he likely will have received less by going to NY. -

Dream scenario. As much as I like Ladd, I wouldn't be able to pass VP up if he's there at 33. -

So you think the oline last year was ok for any QB other than Bryce Young? Only Lamar Jackson and Prime Cam Newton could have made anything out of that line. And for the "Dalton made them look good" group, you forget how many hits he took in that game. Old Andy wouldn't have lasted a full season behind that oline with receivers that needed time to get open in that scheme. Andy was not back there lighting it up in the pocket. Most of his plays were after escaping the pocket, or lack thereof. He needed all 13 years of experience to survive that game. This isn't about Bryce. This is about building a team and offense from the inside out. The right way to do it. -

If these guys live up to their billing, then forget Tee Higgins. Get 2 WRs in the draft. Make sure Ladd is one of them. Get the other on day 3. -
The Real Reason This Trade is So Bad

Burns has never remotely played at the level of prime Mack. Not remotely. Mack was a menace. He took over games. Burns is a decent speed rusher and a liability against the run. -
Burns is no longer on his rookie deal. That changed everything. This is not a fail by this FO. Was hoping for a player and a 2nd, but that was always gonna be the best they were gonna get for a malcontent that didn't want to be in Carolina anymore.
-
If Dan is any good at the draft, they can pull 2 starters with this trade. Starting OL and WR, for a decent pass rusher that's bad against the run. Remind me again how much Burns has impacted games since being drafted. I honestly can't remember any games he took over. He isn't Peppers, Charles Johnson or Greg Hardy. He was never that guy in Carolina. Maybe he can improve in NY, but this isn't the huge loss to the defense some are making it out to be.

Panthers not expected to tender Smith-Marsette
Navy_football replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is the difference between relying on stats and watching the game. Marsette wasn't wasn't given the opportunities he needed to show what he could do. Maybe he didn't know the playbook. Maybe he didn't practice well. But by the end of the season, he was the only player on offense that looked like you had to respect his speed. -

Man I agree 100%! Somebody should have definitely made him more of an option during the season. Politics of the game... -
This team isn't so devoid of talent that it'd make sense to draft a defensive player other than pass rusher. No other position is in play on the defense with 33. WR, OG, OC and TE are much much much bigger needs. Maybe QB, but they need to improve these positions before they really know what they have at QB.
-
Travelle did us proud! Captain was ok. He made a few plays here and there, but I wouldn't give him "pretty good." But agree that injuries weren't a concern. I guess my theory applies to more recent players. And... I just don't think Legette is the right pick.
-
I'm from Columbia, but I think this team needs to give up on Gamecocks. They all seem to contract the injury bug when they come to the Panthers. Edit: In other words, no to Legette at 33.

Officially Entering My Vote for WR Keon Coleman
Navy_football replied to chknwing's topic in Carolina Panthers
Ladd McConkey running a sub 4.4 is all I needed to see. If he's still there at 33, you run that selection in, just in case somebody made a mistake. No replays. -
Agree that Worthy looks like a football player and not just an underwear Olympics warrior. Good hands, good route running, great ability to track the ball - even in traffic, and obviously elite speed.
-
I look at Jameson as a 1st. He's only on the 3rd year of his 1st round contract. So we'd have him for 3 more seasons on the cheap, given the 5th year option. Burns will need a new one now that'll be nearly 30 mill a year. That will definitely play a role.
