  1. That’s a fairly obvious observation to claim as your own.
  2. Great now I’m fully convinced Reich is the best guy for us and I’ll be pissed if it doesn’t happen. Hell of a write up. Well done.
  3. For someone who notoriously deflects blame, I’m happy he apologized for this. Apology/taking ownership should be encouraged in my opinion.
  4. If by “system QB” you mean “not as physically gifted as Lance” than sure. But if he keeps winning, and keeps distributing and making the right decisions…well that’s the whole point of the position right? Sunk cost in Lance will, but shouldn’t, influence who starts in the future, particularly if Purdy ends up being a better NFL quarterback.
  5. I’m telling ya, he’s getting lazy boomer stereotypes thrown on him because he’s 61 and not in his 30’s. Same with Wilks because he’s not young and he’s a DC. Wilks went for, and converted more 4th downs than our opponents did. Reich is the offensive mind everyone wants but has gray hair. OH NO!
  6. Reich got fuged by Luck retiring. Was the revolving door at QB after Luck (and not drafting and developing a young QB) Reich’s fault or the GM’s? Anyone know? Because his record with Brissett, two corpse QB’s, and Wentz is pretty good. Makes you wonder what he could do with some consistently at the position.
  7. Probably a first time, young, sexy, HC. Reich is like $300k A first time HC is a mystery box anything between $1 - $1 million. Some people like the gamble more, and that fine. But pretending Reich is poo is absurd.
  8. Because that was relevant before the 6-6. Not nearly as important after we saw what he did here. Like Seifert had amazing success before we hired him as HC. That quickly became irrelevant after he stunk it up here. People improve and regress. They produce, or are products of their situations (or both). Wilks, in context, took the team from dumpster fire to average. Mid season. That deserves props. Doesn’t mean he will always be average. He may suck. He may be better in the full role. We don’t know. Average for his situation is pretty good in context though.
  9. Is it just me or does it seem like Reich isn’t exciting people solely because he isn’t 36 years old?
  10. How is Reich one of the worst candidates? Under what criteria?
  11. Can’t reason with willful ignorance. I mean I disagree with literally every take MrCompletely has, but I don’t question him wanting the team to win. That’s so silly.
  12. I’d bet he wouldn’t win a Super Bowl either. Most coaches don’t. But you and I don’t KNOW what he would or would not do as coach. Most of these coaches won’t be with their team, if hired, in 2-3 years. It’s tough out there.
  13. Mediocrity isn’t attractive. Everyone wants to win. People don’t want to be mediocre. You see Wilks as mediocre (which is an opinion), and therefore anyone who wants him as HC finds “mediocrity attractive.” Thats ridiculous. Some see 6-6 as good, in context. Some only see 6-6 and don’t care about context. It’s just opinions. Literally everyone here wants to win games and Super Bowls. Come on.
  14. Without Wilks the situation wouldn’t have even mattered. It’s okay to have some nuance and admit the man did a good job while also having moments that pissed you off. It’s like this place is salty we didn’t make the playoffs, and it’s John Fox Wilks to blame.
  15. You guys realize we both went for it on 4th down more than our opponents this season, and we also converted more 4th downs, at a higher rate, than our opponents this season too.
  16. My first reaction to the last pic was to laugh so I guess not the last one.
  17. If we were a perennial playoff team, this move would be pure class. Since we haven’t been, Tepper “had to be told to do this”, or he is only doing it for optics/as “an excuse for Nicole to do her training.” That’s basically what it comes down to. No one here knows the man, and people just love to find creative ways to poo on him.
  18. Also he lost his hair early. That builds character. Resilience. Grit. I’m down.
  19. I’d prefer taking a swing on Kafka over giving up assets to a division rival for Drew Payton.
  20. My copium (I feel 80%+ certain Payton will be HC) is hoping that he is a “hate him when he’s against you, love him when he’s with you” type of guy. Maybe it would be nice watching others cry over his butthole mouth for awhile.
  21. Well the honest answer to the Super Bowl question is we don’t know. Even our last two conservative coaches got us there. It’s a weird league. Wilks immediately made this current team better. But coming from Rhule, you’d expect that . Regarding “conservative”, how do you define that? Some people think focusing on running the ball is conservative. I think conservative is “John Fox, put the ball on the opponents 35” type stuff. Wilks is definitely conservative by the first definition, but it’s the best way to win if you don’t have an elite/very good QB. Wilks however isn’t conservative in the second way. He took calculated risk. And regarding sitting on leads, I agree wholeheartedly with you. I hate milking the clock and playing soft coverage. I like Wilks to be clear, and I appreciate what he did. Wouldn’t hate it if he came back. I have come around to wanting an offensive HC though, with a veteran DC who just loves coaching defense. I get that OC’s are the hot thing now, so having one at HC is the safer thing so you have consistent offense. But Wilks is okay in my book. He helped wash that Rhule stank off this franchise. Sorry for the essay response.
  22. I don’t understand. Is taking over a 1-4 dumpster fire irrelevant to you? Not picking his coaching staff? Wilks isn’t my prefered choice, but let’s not ignore context and pretend his situation was the same as the other HC’s in the division.
  23. Read more than one of the sentences I wrote to see how Wilks was in a slightly different position.
