  1. Yeah I mean it wouldn’t have to be Darrisaw. But if we traded back with a team like WAS and it puts us in the late-teens range the deal could net: 19th overall + 2022 1st round pick. Players that are mocked in the late teens right now: Micah Parsons (which is insane to me given his production and numbers). Put him with Perryman, Shaq and Keuchly as a mentor...sheesh. Jaycee Horn Christian Darrisaw Still leaves you enough ammunition to go after Darnold and STILL bring in a 2nd round pick like Mond. The only wrong move right now imo is to trade up. Just don’t trade up. So many other good options.
  2. How about this: Trade for Darnold. Put TB in the package to help bring Wilson along. Just make it a straight up trade. TB for Darnold. The end.
  3. Thought the same thing. I just don’t know how Darnold could be bad with a line that has Sewell, Moton. A backfield with CMC. Moore, Anderson, one other piece at receiver. He wouldn’t have to be a hero. Just make the right reads and be able to stretch the defense with downfield throws.
  4. Sewell in 1st and Darnold for a conditional 3rd would be a dream.
  5. I’m really starting to think it could be trade back...and end up with Darrisaw and Mond + 1st next year.
  6. Trade down or trade for Darnold... Thats gonna be the plan imo. Plan A: WAS gonna be do whatever it takes to get DW Plan B: Darnold Plan C: Trade back for more picks Plan D: Trade multiple drafts for an unproven QB from BYU. Plan B is still in play and imo the best play to not potentially screw us for years to come if we get it wrong.
  7. Darnold doesn’t have a history of a catastrophic knee injury and an average arm. He has very little comparable injury history and has as good an arm as anyone in this draft.... Trade a 3rd, draft offense, go to the playoffs. That would be the playbook for getting Darnold... You get Zach Wilson’s talent (that has been wasted in NY) and stick him on the team with a ton of weapons....and all you give up is a 2nd or 3rd round pick. I’m almost certain that is what both the Broncos and the Panthers are thinking right now if Lawrence, Wilson, Fields, and Lance are all gone by their pick. Stay put for now...make a trade on draft night if the top 4 are all gone.
  8. Report is that the Jets aren’t stuck on a 1st for Darnold. Trade a 2nd or 3rd for Darnold. Keep the 1st or move back and acquire picks. Stop getting hung up on the pro days. No reason to trade years worth of capital for a top 4 pick. Keep the capital. Trade for Darnold. Build the defense and the OL. Go win....that’s the formula.
  9. We’re done. I was cool trading three 1st round picks for Watson pre-lawsuit. Now we’re gonna have to trade that for a dude who could be a giant bust? No thanks....
  10. TB literally has all of those things in spades and threw for less than 4K yards....with literally three guys who are all at the very least very good #2 receivers and DJ is a bonafide 1.
  11. He threw 57 TDs in two years of college (only one year I believe as full time starter) in a pro style offense against top competition...where he isn’t running RPOs, spreading the field with wide open shots all day long. His numbers basically mirrored Luck coming out of college...and he has the physical tools to go with it. Build a stout OL and give him some weapons in Brady’s system....you have a potential star.
  12. Teddy had maybe the best three receiver lineup in the entire NFL and couldn’t eclipse 4000 passing yards. We saw his best season last year. That was it... I don’t think anyone in the NFL thinks that we’ve seen the best of Darnold yet bc Gase is such a disaster. Flipping a 3rd for Darnold as a backup to not getting Watson imo is maybe as good or better plan to trading a treasure trove for a top 3 pick. Unless coaches think his problems just aren’t repairable.
  13. https://catcrave.com/2021/02/11/sam-darnold-3-reasons-good-fit-carolina-panthers/amp/ https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/2021/02/11/panthers-called-jets-sam-darnold-trade/amp/ Back in early February it was a popular opinion that the Panthers could try and trade for Darnold. What are thoughts on that and any chance this starts back up with the Watson situation ongoing? Personally...I think if Darnold was in this class he’d be QB2 behind Lawrence. Not sure what happened with him at NYJ but I think it was likely out of his control. He always seemed to me to be a guy who had the drive to be great and loved football. If Brady/Rhule really are these “talent whisperers” and QB gurus then you’d think flipping a 2nd or 3rd for Darnold rather than trading up (or trading for Watson) would be the most ideal situation. Maybe CAR could have their own Brees situation with Darnold as a guy who’s been cast aside by his original franchise...only to be paired with the coaches who are actually going to maximize his value.
  14. Trade down: Acquire Vikings #14 - They move up to try and get Sewell. Panthers get #14, 78, 2022 2nd With #14 Panthers draft Kyle Pitts (who’s in a free fall bc of teams taking QBs, DBs, OL). We use #78 and 2022 2nd from Minnesota to acquire Sam Darnold. Use #39 (our 2nd) to draft Trevon Moehrig. Come out of the first two rounds with Pitts, Darnold, and Moehrig. Completely remade O and completely remade D before day 2 (and FA) is even over... If you’re saying Pitts is gone then Slater would be the target imo. But I think Pitts is being pushed up the board just like the QBs are. I think he’ll be there middle of the round. TEs are just not historically valuable as top 10 picks the way QB, OT, WR, EDGE have been..
  15. I do still want Watson...bc I honestly just cannot shake the feeling that this is somehow connected to the Texans, McNair, Texas billionaire ego etc. I don’t think Deshaun has ever been in trouble in his life. All of a sudden this? To me this is as shocking as if something like this came out about someone like Brees or Brady. DW just had too much to lose to do something like this imo. However it’ll all come out one way or another. As far as what the Panthers will ACTUALLY do...I expect them to drag it out basically until the draft starts..low ball the Texans to see if they bite. If they don’t I think they’ll do whatever it takes to get Zach Wilson from the Jets. Which....I think they’ll succeed bc it’ll be a ton of capital and the Jets are gonna ride with Darnold and actually give him some weapons/good coaching and see if that fixes him.
  16. Well there’s very little chance that there’s “hard evidence.“ The nature of the allegations are just very very difficult to prove. Outside of video or DNA and it doesn’t sound like they’re accusing him of anything that DNA could corroborate. So that leaves video...hope it’s not true.
  17. I don’t get why people think Tepper isn’t willing to overpay to get Watson? Has anyone listened at all to what Schefter and the rest are saying?
  18. Yeah maybe you’re right. Maybe Burns is more valuable.
  19. Oh you’re right...the market is smaller. My B.
  20. He specifically wants out of a market that is just like Charlotte and they turned down Mack, Ayers and 3 first round picks. I want Watson bc of the likelihood he would stay....Wilson is a total wild card with Ciara.
  21. Burns is going to be part of the Watson deal.
  22. If we have CMC and Watson both in the backfield I’m not even sure the OL matters that much. What we have now would get the job done. Add a MLB and get Reddick (if they want Burns) and imo we’re one of the tile 2-3 teams in the league by the end of the year.
  23. The point is that it isn’t a reason to not make a deal. If the Texans say.....”we want CMC or you can’t have Watson.” Your response isn’t to hang up the phone. Your response is to do what it takes to get a 25yo 5000 yard passer who may be the second best QB in the league.
