Just how deeply disliked was Matt Rhule?
SmokinwithWilly replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Was kind of my thought as well, especially when "the brand" was put up. If you want to alienate a lot of players and fans, try getting rid of something and someone who meant so much to this franchise. -
Narrative Check: The Roster is "Close"
SmokinwithWilly replied to davos's topic in Carolina Panthers
You forgot competent owner. Looks like we don't have one of those right now either. -
Not to mention he trucked Gould.
-
That's some funny poo right there.
-
Isn't it 70% of offensive snaps? Guess it depends on how good our new starting QB is and if we can get more than a couple 1st downs a game.
-
I try and start whoever is playing Carolina or Chicago regularly.
-
It depends on how the team comes out and plays. If the offensive philosophy changes and actually starts doing something that makes sense, and the defense can hold, who knows what can happen. I want to see what our guys are made of. Any that come out and half ass it can clean out their lockers for all I care.

PJ went from qb4 camp fodder to week 6 starter. This just sums up the entire Matt Rhule era.

Was Rhule worse than Seifert?
SmokinwithWilly replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
Seifert was bad but he wasn't arrogant about it like Rhule. The arrogance in the face of everything a fan could see on the field every game was just mind numbing. Repeated bone head decision after bone head decision. We went from Cam to T2G to Darnold to PJ sorta to Cam2.0 to Baker to whatever the fug this is now. Holy fuging poo show. -
Here's the way I see it with Fitts. He wasn't really trading from an advantageous point on most of the trades. Little and Daley were both win trades. Guys we were going to cut and he got something instead of nothing. Gilmore for a 5th. Now that one I get because we had a lot of young guys in our CB room and Gilmore was DPoY. There's knowledge there that can't be coached. I don't have an issue there really. CJ Henderson. We lost horn. He wasn't doing well in Jax. Top 10 pick in a poo show run by an even bigger poo show. He's brought here. He has the skills. But we also had Rhule who had shown repeatedly he didn't know how to play to his players strengths. CJ is better press than man. CB is also one of the longest transitioning positions from college. Right now it's not as good as we could have hoped, but it's also not as bad as it could have been. Darnold. We were forced to trade because we had no one other than PJ and Grier. When you're desperate, it's a bad position to be in. You have no leverage in a trade because you can't really walk with what's available on the roster. Jets had us over a barrel and knew it. We got fleeced because we traded T2G with no other plan in place. Baker. The result of an owner that mortgaged everything for a QB that didn't want to be here. Baker took a pay cut to come here, which made it work for us, which was a good part of the trade. And for a 5th, potential 4th, it wasn't a bad price for a starting QB. Again though, everyone knew Darnold was poo and had to be replaced. No leverage again and we needed someone because all we had was, well, PJ. He's a QB with issues after we've already played 4 QBs in 2 years. Add in RPO is not his game and never has been, and the pairing with McAdoo makes zero sense. Corral. I think his hope in trading up for MC was that we would have time to develop him and while he wouldn't be a starting QB yet, he has potential and we needed a more viable backup. Again though, this trade was influenced by poor QB decisions with Cam, T2G, and Sam. But these trades also can't be looked at strictly in a vacuum. The big part of all of this is Rhule and his complete mismanagement of the roster. Baker is the worst QB to bring in for McAdoo's system. It's hard to use a RPO offense with a QB that can't run. Add in pointless "competitions", lack of reps all over, playing guys out of position, stubbornness that makes Rivera look flexible like a gymnast, going with his gut instead of watching film, it all just adds up. Rhule's incompetency can't be understated or underestimated. I knew last year watching the last game presser, Fitts was not happy with the way things were going. The guy has been in a tough spot taking a job no one else wanted with an owner that's interfered the entire way and a head coach with personnel control. He hasn't won trades, but at the same time, we were never negotiating from a position of strength.

To run the offense we currently have in place, we need a QB that can run. That's not Baker. PJ ain't it. Darnold is still out. Corral is out for the year. Cam makes some sense. Now would he want to come here? that's another thing. I don't see Wilks just rolling over and losing out the season if he can help it. Cam may be his best option.

There’s NO WAY IN HELL we’re beating Tampa Bay

TB gets calls no other QB could dream about. Cam would have gotten a personal foul for roughing the pass rusher. -

week five mandatory post game fire rhule demand thread
SmokinwithWilly replied to PhillyB's topic in Carolina Panthers
Other than satisfying the fans, firing Rhule isn't going to accomplish a lot. Unless we send McAdoo and half our Templor staff with him, then what. There's not really time to get a new HC and OC and get it all implemented in a week. I look for him to get fired after the game before our bye to give at least 2 weeks to do something. -

Keep Tabor, fire the rest. Don't let Ryans leave Charlotte. -
If he leaves its not going to change anything. Half this staff is Temple Baylor alum.

NFL and NFLPA release Tua findings
SmokinwithWilly replied to SmokinwithWilly's topic in Carolina Panthers
He wasn't obviously concussed but there was obviously something going on. Adrenaline can make you capable of things that normally don't happen. Having something tap your spinal cord can cause jelly legs, I can attest to that one personally. He shouldn't have been back out, but he wasn't necessarily concussed. -
6:30 for me. Was listening to fantasy football guys podcast the other day and they were talking to a guy in Australia that gets up at 3am to set his fantasy lineup. Having to do Europe time zones, EST and PST would be a nightmare.

NFL and NFLPA have released the results of their investigation into the Tua injury. https://www.nfl.com/news/nfl-nflpa-joint-statement-on-investigation-into-handling-of-dolphins-qb-tua-tago "While the investigation determined that the team medical staff and unaffiliated medical professionals followed the steps of the Protocol as written, the NFL and NFLPA agree that the outcome in this case is not what was intended when the Protocols were drafted." Looks like Tua was not concussed as had been stated, but there was obviously something wrong. Expect them to take a serious look into this during the off-season and expect it to get redone. I do expect them to start watching these guys with far more scrutiny than before now, and rightfully so. The 2nd instance very much reminded me of seeing Luke on the cart.
