  1. I understand the spirit in which it was intended. Unfortunately ingrained racism isn't something you can just RR out of existence with some of these owners. What I would really like to see is the NFL push apprenticeship or more assistant type roles for players that are interested in making the transition or for those that maybe lack the physical talent to play but have the intellectual gift but have a harder time finding the opportunity to get involved. There's always going to be hate and it's such a stupid thing. We're all fingers on the same hand. We may look different but we have to work to make it all work.
  2. I feel happy and disappointed at the same time. Happy he's staying at Michigan, disappointed Rhule is staying here.
  3. It's for show. If you're being called for an interview, how do you know if it's because you actually have a shot or if you are just there to fulfill a quota? I don't know what the solution is, but when the rule was implemented, it was pretty obvious that it was going to come to this at some point.
  4. I don't recall another candidate ever having the level of scrutiny surrounding why he hasn't been hired as a HC as Eric Bieneimy. It's possible he didn't have a good interview with the Falcons. This was put out last year after he interviewed with the Falcons. Again, how much truth there is to that I don't know but it isn't unheard of for someone to have a bad interview. Sticking your coach with a QB he doesn't want could make him hard to work with. But then again, Ross is one of the worst owners in the NFL and I would much easier believe that Ross was hard to work with than the other way around. Before Rhule was hired, I thought we should have interviewed Bieniemy. You can have a poor interview and it not be any reflection of your ability to do the job. Matt Rhule evidently nailed his interview to the tune of 60M and look at what he's doing. Bieniemy and Flores (if possible) are 2 of the names I am hoping we interview if Rhule ever hits the bricks. I think both could be capable of doing well given a good GM and the proper talent. Will that materialize. Who knows. But if I'm trying to build a winning franchise and make it worth even more money, then yeah, I'm looking at every possible candidate.
  5. I think the biggest detriment to Bieniemy getting hired as HC has been Reid. Reid has always been a QB whisperer. Plus it's never really been determined exactly how much of the offense Bieniemy is responsible for on game day and how much is Reid. I think he should have had a shot by now, especially over some of the guys that have gotten one including our own illustrious leader. I also remember reading that he didn't interview particularly well and interviews are important. How much truth is there to that? Who can say for sure. But after being around one of the great QB minds in KC, I'd love to see him be able to impart some of that knowledge here if the position happened to be made available. P.S. I will happily donate a snow blower to Mr. Rhule for his new driveway in Ann Arbor.
  6. First, try and get a minority group as buyers for the Broncos. Then consider adding 4 more franchises all to be minority owned if and only if there are enough qualified applicants for the Broncos franchise. Those owners will then have the ability to hire those they feel are qualified to do the job, regardless of color, opening the door for more experience and candidates in the future.
  7. I'm a Wolverines fan so this would be mixed feelings for me. The only thing that can even come to mind would be one of those twisted lifetime movies where the guy finds the woman of his dreams only to find out they were both adopted and are long lost siblings.
  8. I've never been a fan of the Rooney rule. I've been a fan of hiring the best guy for the job period. There's only 1 Lombardi trophy to win every year and I'll be damned if I wouldn't be hiring the most qualified or the guy with the right vision and plan on how to get there.
  9. Well he's already proven he can go 5-12 and that may be good enough to win the NFCS next year.
  10. Daniel Snyder really needs to let someone else make the decisions.
  11. I'd rather have a SB trophy nudge Ala the great Manning send off of SB50.
  12. Flores is one of the guys I really wanted to see brought in if Rhule bolts for UM. I don't know if that is possible now. If Rhule does bolt, it just proves this franchise is even a bigger shitshow for missing out on the top candidates to keep a guy who didn't want to be here.
  13. True. But most NFL coaches don't come out and openly say it making themselves look like even bigger jackasses.
  14. Hurney gave Little a 1st round value. Anyone that watched the combine had him sliding to day 3 or UDFA.
  15. LT are easier to identify. We had this year's 2nd team all pro LT identified as a guard. See how easy that was.
  16. And most of the time the 5 year old ends up kicking your ass.
  17. It was pretty much announced afterwards when Talib said he was to trying to injure Philly Brown and all he got was a 25k fine. Players got suspended for bountygate. Talib laughs about doing it and gets a slap on the wrist.
  18. I think we could possibly have had good drafts. I also think it's possible Rhule may have the uncanny ability to neutralize own players better than any opposing coordinator ever could. I thought Rivera was bad at putting players in positions to succeed but he is an amateur compared to Rhay-Z.
  19. But can you trust Rhule to make that determination? My gut says no.
  20. I'm not in disagreement with you at all and he does need to work on his craft and not rely on physical gifts. And he could have very well been honing his craft, with poor or inadequate coaching. We don't really know. Which is why I'm not ready to write him off. Linemen can play into their mid 30s so if it takes him a couple years to fix this, so be it. If he doesn't, we move on. Whether it's working with the Panthers new OL coach or a private coach, it's definitely going to take more than 10 minutes and lots of repetition to correct his form. My point really was you don't draft 3rd round tackles to make them plug and play all over the line as a rookie. There's too much too learn and it's really setting them and the team up for failure. I just think Rhule really is the wrong guy for skill set evaluation and placement.
  21. I agree to an extent. It's all about how the player engages. At guard, it's a much more physical engagement against an often larger player. You have to bend forward so that at impact your body straightens and you can take that impact without losing your balance or your leverage. At tackle, while you engage, it's against lighter faster players that are often trying to get outside your shoulders and past you. You don't engage as heavily and stand up a little straighter so you can move laterally better. Defenders can and will use your momentum against you as well. At guard I expected to cover about 60 degrees of the the field in front of me, tackle was about 90 degrees. That extra space meant I had to be more agile and couldn't explode out of my stance the same for each position. Can BC improve? Absolutely. But I think it's also unfair to say he should be able to move all over the line without issue. Very few linemen can move across all positions on the line seamlessly because it isn't easy to do, much less for a rookie. But we're talking about things happening in tenths of a second and this is where coaching comes into play. Coaches should be able to close these gaps from college to the pros. Fix these problems and help them adjust to the speed and size difference. But looking at Matt Rhule and having to say that's the guy to help BC make that adjustment, all I can say to myself is he's fugged.
  22. If every coach at every level could teach perfect fundamentals every player would have them. They don't. There's only a few elite level tackles every year because they don't all have these basic fundamentals. First step is different, but so is the second and the third. Tackles face more speed rushers where guards face more power rushers. Tackles slide laterally more often, guards get pushed backwards. Defenders use different hand movements. Again, we're talking 2 different positions. Guard is not his natural position. He probably has to think about it because it's not what he does on a regular basis. His blocking assignments are also different. Put him in 4 different positions and yeah, you can't expect him to look good because everything he is doing is constantly different. I'm not saying he's going to be great or even good. I'm just saying to expect a 1st round level performance from him with Rhay-Z as his HC is a little much. Fundamentals can be fixed. He can be taught. That's why we have offensive line coaches. Just try teaching him 1 spot first instead of 4. And by someone who actually knows that a tackle doesn't have to fit certain measurements to be all pro level.
