Yeah I think if Deshaun did talk to Cam about Carolina, Cam would just tell it like it is 100%. Of course he wasn't happy with how it ended here but at the end of the day both these guys know it's a business. Cam doesn't seem to be the type to harbor ill will towards Tepper.

Anyone think Watson could ask Eric Reid about Carolina? We know he's really into social justice and all that jazz, and Tepper is the only one who took a shot on Reid, allowed the kneeling and is a very socially aware person, especially when compared to all the other owners. Could Watson call Eric up about coming here, and advise him to? Just something else to think about
-
I haven't disputed any of that -- I said "I doubt that'll happen but it's not impossible" in regards to Watson forcing his way here.
-
If he takes a hard stance that he will only play for the Carolina Panthers and he'll hold out until he can do that, what choice do they have? Call his bluff and screw themselves and get nothing just to spite him? I doubt that'll happen but it's not impossible.
-
Honestly not sure I'd call that a huge fleece depending on the circumstances surrounding Watson's interest in other teams. If he only wants to go to Carolina and his 100% solidly locked into that then that would actually be a reasonable return for the Texans I think. #8 overall has a lot of value, another 1st and then Donte who despite the inconsistency is a young high potential player at an extremely important position.

He had 1 ACL injury his rookie year and hasn't missed a game since then... 2019 he was rested along with other starters in week 17. Was Brady "injury prone" after his ACL tear...?
-
None of those hits are like Smith's or Theisman's, whose were truly career altering. Luke was still playing at an elite level and still could be. Brady, come on... Is Teddy any worse than he was before the injury? No. Could Watson miss time with injury and make it tough for us to win? Sure obviously, that's a risk of the game. All 32 teams are in that same boat. You don't make decisions based on fear of a player getting a career altering injury. That's absurd.

I know there's hysteria about QBs leading up to the draft and all but I highly highly doubt all of those 4 are gone by 8. That's just incredibly unlikely. And they can and will trade up if they need to. If not then they are even more of a dumpster fire than we all already know they are -- in which case it doesn't matter one bit about trying to sell Teddy to their fanbase, they'll just make the damn trade. It won't be hard to include Teddy in a trade to the Texans for Watson. May have to add another day 2 or 3 pick but that'll be the case regardless of where we try to trade him. Texans are actually one of the better spots to unload him, they don't need cap space this year...

Come on... That Alex Smith type hit has happened like twice in NFL history. Every player has this risk, do you think the Chiefs shouldn't have paid Mahomes because he could be "out of the game and you are still on the hook for him?" If we had 1st overall should we pass up Lawrence and trade down because "one hit could take him out of the game?" That's ridiculous. Going by that logic we should have try to have zero star players and try to build a team of 22 average or slightly above average players with good depth. That won't win you a SB. Don't even try to compare Matt fuging Kalil to an MVP caliber franchise QB who is 25 years old. I prefer we try to get a rookie QB rather than pay a ton for Watson, but rarely does an opportunity come along to acquire an elite franchise QB this easily and many franchises wait decades for it (as we know all too well). If the team finds a deal they like and trades for Watson, I'm confident it'll be an outstanding move.
-
Unless they get another young QB they like in a trade for Watson (Tua, Darnold), there is no chance they don't take a QB in this draft. They'd have plenty of capital to trade up from 8 if necessary and still a bunch left over from the trade to build elsewhere.
-
We hated it because it was 2-3 years and to get rid of him before that we'd have to eat a big cap hit and mainly because we don't actually have a concrete plan in place to replace him, even still. If we had drafted Tua or Herbert the perception of the Teddy signing would be significantly different. Texans will have a young QB there to be excited about. 1 season of Teddy with no dead cap after that won't affect that at all. Not even close to comparable.
-
They will draft a QB this year, easy to sell the fanbase on Teddy as a high character backup or bridge for the rook, and they could shed his contract 100% after 1 year. It’s not far-fetched that he’s be included in a potential Watson deal. He just doesn’t add value to it

Matt Rhule continues to show why he's the right guy for the Panthers
t96 replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
I've been a huge fan of the Rhule hire since day 1 and I think for the most part he impressed in his first season, though not without some struggles. We'll see how far he can take us, I'm not going to try to claim he has a shot at a dynasty even with Watson, but I do feel confident he can bring us our first Lombardi at least, even if it takes 5+ years before we get to that level... One thing I've learned in watching sports is that things can change fast. I mean, who realistically thought Jim Harbaugh would be out of the league after 3 straight NFC Championship Game appearances and a close Super Bowl loss? Definitely excited, but we still have a long way to go with Rhule. -
Didn't the Seahawks go like 4 or 5 straight years without a 1st round pick. Fitterer knows what the fug he's doing, get you that QB and draft well in 2-7 and those 1sts won't matter. I say it'll be 3 1st round picks and a couple day 2 picks and no players involved... Teddy will get offloaded to a different team.

Can’t wait til he continues to round out his form and the game to slow down a bit for him. He’s going to be a huge piece of the puzzle for this team, hopefully as our long term #2C not long from now.

LET’S F*CKING GO BOYS!!! What a huge win. Star #1 goes to Mrazek who was incredible. Vasilevsky was great, nice job Marty for finally solving him. Glad the team came out this game firing on all cylinders and hungry. Credit to the 5 young guys who stepped up and were collectively absolutely incredible in this opportunity. So damn pumped about this team!

Great news! Long live coach Rivera!

If he wanted to force himself to the Panthers and the Panthers only I think that price could be feasible if the player is Burns. Burns is worth every bit of two 1st round picks. So that's 3 1sts for a player who is forcing his way to a specific team. But yeah in a bidding war I don't think Burns and #8 gets it done.
