The Ravens can’t be this dumb? They’re a smart organization right?
t96 replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Fair that Mahomes already had his big contract but with him I don't think that makes any difference whatsoever. He's committed to and fully invested in winning. He signed a team friendly deal with pretty damn low guarantees for the best player in the world by far. By all accounts he was never worried about his contract or difficult he's just all about ball. I can't say the same for Lamar. It's the nature of being a running QB, which he 100% is. He takes a ton of hits. Both in and outside the pocket. That stuff adds up, and the hits he takes aren't curling up in a ball protecting himself like a Brady or Matt Ryan would do. They come from all different angles in all different situations which is not good for longevity. He's now let his team with championship aspirations down the past 2 seasons by being hurt and even before that he has never performed well in the playoffs. -
he was fine, was much better when he was independent as blackandbluereview or whatever it was called. Since being hired by the team he's been nothing special at all

Man, he plays recklessly, it's part of why he's so damn good. And if the bolded is actually true then that's an even bigger red flag than injuries. Skipping playoffs when you could've played and your team is a legit contender just because of a contract situation? That's a bitch level move from an alleged "franchise QB." Look at the videos of Mahomes desperately begging Reid to not send him to the locker room when he rolled his ankle. That's what you want out of a franchise QB that you're paying a ton of $$ to. -

If they give him a 5 year fully guaranteed contract they will be screwed. Dude can't stay healthy -
Daniel Jones fuging sucks lol. Daboll is the reason for their success and Barkley too.

Lol why is he still brought up around here?

Charlie Campbell: Panthers love Bijan Robinson

Not at our current pick, maybe if we somehow traded down and got him. -
I'm thinking he gets 2 years $20M and not by us. We have Horn and Donte

Panthers founder Jerry Richardson passes away at 86

He was a somewhat bad owner, possibly (likely?) a bad person but could've been much worse though and he did bring a team to the Carolinas. RIP Big Cat -
Reality is those rules factor into the decision making, for every single team. When weighing pros and cons between a few candidates there is no doubt potential compensation for minorities getting hired away from your team IS a pro and goes into that column. Whether people like it or not. I'm extremely happy with our staff hires, regardless of their races.

If Reich/Fitts/etc. like either Stroud or Young just give up the picks and make the trade. Our roster with a few shrewd FA additions and a highly touted rookie QB would honestly be better than any Reich had in Indy except for the 1 year he had with Luck. I'd be feeling extremely good about this season if we can pull that off. If they don't love these prospects then don't force it, we can always trade up for a QB next year if we prefer. But we just can't be afraid to trade picks for a top QB in the draft. Done with the retreads

Keep LaMelo in Charlotte by moving him to the Panthers?

Bucs hired a Seattle guy for OC meaning we probably have Brown if we want him, after the interview tomorrow.

Generally yes, although the Rams, 49ers and Eagles all traded up to get QBs and wound up having tremendous success with a QB other than the one they traded all that draft capital for... Rams won the SB with Stafford after trading a ton for Goff. 49ers had NFCCG runs with Jimmy G and Brock Purdy in back to back years after trading a haul to get Lance. Eagles traded a haul to get Wentz, he contributed to their 1 seed in 2017 but it was ultimately Foles who brought them a championship and success down the stretch run and then also made a brief playoff run the following year. I wouldn't let the price scare me off even if there is a chance CJ or whoever it is busts. Screwing up this move ain't the end of the world. Coaching and ultimately landing a QB that fits well into that coach's system is ultimately what matters most. Gotta take chances to find that QB and it may not work out. Well worth the risk in my opinion.

No team is giving him what he wants, neither NO or TB has any cap space, in fact both are significantly over the cap and any moves they make to get under, let alone under enough to sign Carr, will deplete their rosters to a significant degree. Carr wants to win, he can win here for a year or 2 and he'd have every opportunity to hold off a rookie QB if he does play well enough.
-
Sign Carr as bridge. Get Stroud or Young (ideally Stroud) even if it means trading up.

I still would've preferred Harbaugh and I would've preferred a younger offensive mind, but I'm happy with Reich and more excited than I've been in several years so I guess I'd say I'm "on board." I'm not sure he brings us a Super Bowl win which is the ultimate goal but he definitely brings us much closer to relevance and some sustained success/playoff appearances. I'm hopeful 2 years from now we can finally say we've had back to back winning seasons.

Love it. Basically polar opposite to Rhule's approach, which is good. I'm taking it slow with hyping up the team and our prospects this season just based on assistant coaches but I can't find anything to complain about with Reich's staff so far. Now let's get us Carr for the near future, Stroud/Young/Levis for the mid/long term, fill some of the other gaps in free agency. NFCS is so wide open if we can do that we could dominate the division for years to come.

Possibly unpopular opinion but I just don't care at all about announcers these days, I don't think any of them are good and I rarely pay any attention to what they have to say. Sometimes even mute them. This is for all sports not just football. Very happy for Greg, it's great he's getting positive recognition and carving out a nice post-NFL career for himself. But I just don't care any more for his announcing than any of the others. My favorite "commentating" the last 2 years has actually been the MNF Manningcast. They're not trying to call the game or have the rehearsed over the top hype for random stuff for both teams, just 2 goofy dudes who know a crap ton about the sport and have great brotherly banter and interesting guests on the show. Not trying to appease networks or make a boring game seem great or a great game seem greater than it really is.

How do you rank these QB’s that are 26 or younger
t96 replied to panther4life's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't know about a specific ranking of these guys but I think Lawrence is going to take massive strides as he gets some legit weapons and have a similar early career arc to Peyton Manning. Not quite to Peyton's level of all time great, but to being the best of this bunch of QBs. All of these guys have things I like about them and things I question. Herbert has the tools and has shown some seriously elite throwing ability, but he's trended downward (decent weapons not amazing and doesn't seem like coaching is helping him any). Burrow is great but aided a ton by his elite receivers and solid coaching. Allen puts the team on his back a bit more than these others but he's still pretty inconsistent, some weeks looking like the best QB in the game and other weeks looking like a scrub who shouldn't even be starting. His play style also worries me like Cam's did. Lamar is electric as a runner and a solid passer but big injury concerns and how good of a passer he really is can only be determined when he gets some weapons and a coaching staff that knows how to run a passing offense. Hurts was amazing this year but also aided by elite weapons and coaching, not sure how much of it is him and not sure how long he can hold up running like that. Tua -- concussions a big concern now and before this year he wasn't very good. Had a very solid season but with elite weapons and in a well coached passing offense. I would gladly take any of them compared to what we've had since Cam's health fell apart, but Lawrence would be my #1 choice, probably with Herbert 2nd then Burrow/Allen. Lamar/Hurts/Tua in a lower tier. Can't even begin to compare any of them to Stroud/Young without those guys having played in the NFL yet. I would easily pick any of the established guys over these 2 (not taking into account a theoretical acquisition cost/contract. If taking that into account I prefer to trade up for a QB than trade for Lamar and give him a massive contract. The other guys surely aren't available anyways). I take Stroud over Young but would be thrilled to get either this draft. -
We should've had both those guys for at least a few years. I generally was a DG fan but the debacle with Norman's tag and contract negotiations was an absolute embarrassment and I think big reason for our downfall (prior to Cam's injuries).

No he just has class and takes responsibility. Mad respect for James, always liked him here and he'll grow from this. It was a really soft call, but by the book a penalty. He understands that and isn't whining and blaming others.
-
Listening to this Bieniemy interview, I really would love to see us consider him for OC. I liked him over Rhule for HC back a few years ago too. I think he probably needs to get out from under Reid's shadow and have some success elsewhere as an OC to get a HC gig and I think we would be a great spot for that.
-
Losing the one to the Bucs made it very hard 3 vs 6 would be so much more doable than the 2 vs 7 it is now. How much does Reid have left and can Mahomes win more without Reid? I think Mahomes can overtake Brady as clear GOAT without the rings though… ALL his per game stats are considerably better than Brady’s, playoffs and regular season. In a sport where you have 22 starters and more guys contributing, comparing individuals on team stats is pretty silly.

Ooof Bradberry, always liked him feel bad for him there. Softish call but by the book was a hold.
