  1. I'd rather Young work to better his game than his press conferences. Given that he put the work and effort in to reestablish himself as the starter, I'm not overly concerned he's not going to give it his best shot. I feel that the ball giveaway is something this team has to earn by playing a lot better.
  2. As long as Tremble isn't asking for too much money, he can stay. Maybe it was just my eyes but it looked like Sanders was asked to make a fair amount of blocks, something I believe was something he didn't really do in college. I'm hoping this is bona fide proof we are done with Ian Thomas. When Morgan had his end of season presser, he said they had a plan to eventually get Bryce back on the field this season. Took the media there by complete surprise because Morgan thought Canales has already told them about this.
  3. At this juncture, I'm leery of bringing in any more Uglies over 30. Too much money and risk of injuries is a lot higher. I have some issues with Mays and I would really like to strengthen the interior but I feel any potential alternative should be via the draft. That said, I would prioritize drafting an eventual replacement for Moton over a center.
  4. Stumbled into this about a name that might start floating around in regards to vacancies: Brian Flores. As per usual, grain of salt but this might've been the first time I heard this about Flores when he was with the Dolphins and it's not exactly positive. https://x.com/uSTADIUM/status/1876792118703751666?t=2eZoEjB0X8bkJBJ1hrNnWA&s=19
  5. I'd check this thread as well. It's looking like our investment in the O-line certainly helped but a lot of the metrics are saying it's more a mid unit than an elite one. https://x.com/benbbaldwin/status/1876626581441163445?t=r9gSdtTkw_Puf3WHqPKkBQ&s=19
  6. I did find it curious Canales moved Jack Plummer to the active roster before the end of the season. Maybe Canales likes him enough to consider him as a potential option as a future backup.
  7. Cowboys deny the Bears request to interview with McCarthy. However, looks like they are talking with Pete Carroll on Thursday.
  8. Evero to his red shirt army defense: I know most of you won't be able to do your job well or without going to IR and be replaced by another red shirt, but remember that your sacrifice will not be in vain, that you're here to save the most important thing. My job.
  9. Should note that Brees also was pretty good at not having passes batted down. Not sure about 2024 but Mayfield still had an issue with batted passes in his first year with the Bucs. He is 6'1" which is still short by NFL standards. It's possible it's a case of something Mayfield does that telegraphs to a defensive player when he's going to throw.
  10. With Canales, our Hard Knocks is more likely to play out like a Hallmark movie, which is the opposite of what they want. We'll probably be safe because of that.
  11. The explanation for that chart is below. I would always take data with a grain of salt but the implication is that guys like Mahomes and Jackson throw to tight windows less often and aren't as good actually throwing it away from coverage to give their guy a better shot. https://x.com/throwthedamball/status/1876766172906967479?t=j2OG60R7R6NYoPxVkE_lbw&s=19
  12. A few more interesting ones. Some we've seen before but are updated up through the last game.
  13. A few other notable ones... So apparently, Dalton threw a lot more over the middle but things did not go well. Goff is a machine over the middle. My understanding of this is what happens when a QB faces a defense that effectively covers targets. Probably an indication of being a one read guy if you're a lot more to the right. Not a good look for Lawrence.
  14. This might've been the source. https://x.com/fballforeverhq/status/1875945200549527889
  15. Some thoughts: 2:38 - Bryce might've been a little too quick in throwing after resetting his base but great catch by XL. If he can catch balls like this, that’s something both should work on. Put the ball high, let XL pluck the ball away from his body. 9:48 - If/when we get Brooks back, I could see Canales draw up plays like that for him. Or if we go back to having gadget players like Shenault on the roster. 12:15 - I'm more of generally not liking playcalls with our current roster that asks our guys to go horizontal near the LOS. 16:38 - Want to say the play was designed to have a natural pick which - had it worked - would allow an easy completion. But the defender stuck with XL. Couldn't tell if XL extended his hands to make the catch but unlikely. Another thing he'll need to learn so that he can wall off defenders and force them into more contact and better chance of drawing PI. 18:38 - Yep, saw right away this could've gone to XL for an easier TD. But somewhat encouraging that he was going to come open. Then again, I think this was a similar route to the one he ran against the Eagles that he dropped. 21:29 - I swear JT is that teacher from A Christmas story who ends up writing A++++ on the board. This type of play with Thielen has become a go-to between the two, I've noticed. 23:47 - I'm trying to find it again but one of the players said that this play was actually ran on Friday and there was someone - maybe not actually Canales - that added the wrinkle of Tremble switching to the post. They immediately recognized the play when it was run. 27:12 - An example of one the problems that keeps cropping up; two receivers occupying the same area. Hard to say if it's more a design issue or an execution one. Leaning towards the latter. 33:04 - Might actually be my favorite play of the game that wasn't the Bryce Curry one. It's all the little things needed to make this work and the execution was as good as one could ask for. 35:20 - Thought I saw Bryce pointing as though he’s directing a receiver except that was likely a dummy to freeze the defenders enough to run it in. Not the first time he's done it. 37:29 - Would’ve preferred a pass more like the one at 2:38. JT’s got the height. We should exploit that more and let him make contested catches.
  16. One of the first thoughts after the game yesterday was that JT was going to jump all over it. He's been more favorable about BY from the beginning, and so yesterday must've felt like Christmas.
  17. This seems quite like a classic Panthers pick. And based on past results, the odds are favorable we're going to get a great player.
  18. Might've been Shaq but he said he wasn't exactly buying Canales at the start - probably because of dealing with Rhule - but he's now convinced he's being genuine with his approach. At the least, Canales has played a big part of turning a lifeless team into a scrappy enjoyable squad who are really trying on the field. I still have doubts about him being a playcaller, and I'm unsure about the decision to keep Evero. Call me cautiously optimistic.
  19. Thielen has one more year under contract. Now, him calling it a career early is not out of the question. He did get hurt and missed time this season, and Coker is showing signs of being that reliable target that he is now. Sure, we'll likely be better next season but we most likely aren't going to be good enough to make any meaningful playoff push, if we can even get there in the first place. Could very well come down to whether it's worth one more year and risk a more severe injury or say he's proven enough and that he believes that our young receivers can pick up the slack. I sure hope they remind their agents about that.
  20. A bit sad this doesn't surprise me that much.
  21. Yeah, that's one concern I have. Also, every time I watch analysis videos, I get the impression our snaps are often not very clean. Wouldn't be surprised if that has thrown timing off as a result.
  22. Well... if Canales and Morgan both agree, then I suppose. They didn't give up on Bryce and their patience is now getting rewarded. Hopefully it's similar with Evero.
  23. This was one of the biggest positives of the day. Just about everyone on offense had at least one good moment on the field. Having all three rookies get a good chunk of actual snaps this season is only going to help us next season. How much they'll improve is the big question. Definitely think we need a fast shifty piece.
  24. Hey, now. At least Keenum has the Minneapolis Miracle to fall back upon.
  25. idk this feels more like on brand for the Vikings. Have a great regular season only to have duds when games really matter.
