First of all it's not up to Steve Smith. He's literally making no football decisions on where he plays. Second i've yet to see one compelling reason they shouldn't try to trade for him. It's all just he said she said emotional bullshit that doesn't matter in the least as far as football goes. so lets talk football. steve smith or not the panthers should be trying to get a vet WR at the deadline to make a super bowl push. Smitty fits the bill, i don't care he was mean to you once and nobody else should either

Keeping that contract on a 1-5 bottom feeder team is such a bad move, especially when he has value...maybe smitty won't be in carolina but he should be elsewhere by the deadline. Ravens are done and I'd be Ok with overpaying a bit for a guy who's going to sign the one day contract to retire here anyway. All the BS aside. 89 is a panther for life and he could help get us a super bowl THIS YEAR, while getting the ravens some picks or players to help them rebuild in another conference.
