  1. Five reasons we should not resign Curtis Samuel. 1. D'Wayne Eskridge - had a great senior bowl. Size a bit of an issue but kid is lightning in a bottle. 2. Dyami Brown - electric and shifty receiver had solid production at UNC with gadgetry plays 3. Jaelon Darden - fast and speedy WR with big play potential. 4. Anthony Schwartz - track star with decent hands. 5. Ihmir smith-Marsette - Playmaker with speed and more size than some on the list. Do ya see a pattern? There are fast and shifty prospects in this draft to develop as a third option later round picks. If you add big possession types like Amon St Ra, Tamorrion Terry, Sage Surratt and Seth Williams and the big ticket prizes like Terrance Marshall, Rondale Moore or Rashod Bateman then there are likely a baker's dozen reasons not to overspend on Samuel.
  2. I appreciate that we stuck with Samuel and he stepped up his game to a level we need to have this conversation. The fact is we already paid our rb big money and DJ Moore has a contract coming up so... Something has to give. Robby played great this season as well once he got out from under the black cloud that is the NY Jets. Curtis was a complete professional and a teammate but, let's let the new regime bring in a draft pick. The WR class is pretty strong. We are talking bout the third receiver here.
  3. Creating my own. Dom Capers - Coach Nick Goings - RB DJ Moore - WR 2005 Defense Fox would have benched Cam for a journeyman vet. Cam and Smitty could never coexist. So yeah color me unimpressed with the groupings.
  4. Fields or Lance to the Falcons. If we want a QB we will likely need to trade with Miami.
  5. Ron is a player's coach. Part of that is he is old school. Maybe a bit too old school. I liked him but honestly him being instrumental in the overuse of Cam and CMC kinda soured me.
  6. I am digging the F.O. approach this off season so far. Have been a player in all QB moves but have been smart with the offers. It's a calculated and measured response to an obvious need but not being reactive and desperate. Let the Rams,Bears and others overpay for retreads.
  7. Three qb's are the deal. Starter, vet journeyman can win some games in a pinch and developmental guy who can climb the depth chart and be a starter or reliable sub. Nobodies talking bout him but I'm hoping for Kellen Mond as a third round pick.
  8. Unfortunately with the need to rebuild a oline, fix secondary issues, a field general at MLB, three technique pass rusher and that pesky franchise QB problem we have to put some things on the backburner. Fact is even if we have a A plus perfect draft we still not fill all the needs. So yeah WR is a luxury but if you view the rebuild as a longer term situation I'm not against a high upside WR.
  9. Thomas is a great. A hof tackle. He is a anomaly though. I'm not alone in a preference for length at tackle. Nice comparison though if Slater is Thomas then cool if he ends up a overdrafted interior lineman then....
  10. Rondale reminded me of Smitty. Got a lot of dog in him.
  11. Can't we just be happy for the guy. It's a pretty low salary for a backup. A backup who outplayed Haskins. Sorry watching that last game heinicke earned a contract. If he had played back in that infamous game we would have lost. We would have lost and we would be picking higher ya da ya da. I for one am glad he got paid hurney and Ron can do what they want with that roster. Doesn't concern my team. A team I celebrated for winning a late season game with draft implications.
  12. I read there was a corner/safety out of Georgia named DJ Daniel who is 5'11 with 33 inch long arms. Sorry not sorry I need my franchise left tackle to have vines for arms. Back to DJ get him in a weight room and he will resemble the type Fitterer liked when building the legion of boom. On a tangent bout corners but Robert Rochell out of Central Arkansas fits that mode too. 79 inch wingspan track star playing corner.
  13. Thank you. Leatherwood, Liam Eichenberg, and Christian Darrisaw all started longer. All have resumes that include championship games and or awards. Yet everyone is talking bout Slater.
  14. Yep. Any guess how the current crop does using these parameters? It's not good. You know who could check more boxes in next year's crop. Sam Howell. Just saying
  15. Do you think Slater has the sand to be a run blocker on the right side in the NFL? Sorry I know the league is changing but 33 inch arms screams guard to me. If not center.
  16. Todd is slightly less obnoxious as Kiper. Neither of them are hitting on much. Lance could be the next big thing or he could be Blaine Gabbert. Remember him. Kiper had a man crush on him. There is a old standard I think parcells had to evaluate qb's. Experience was a big part of that formula. Another was accuracy. Wilson and Lance are raw. Lawrence, Fields and Jones were surrounded by elite talent. This entire class has question marks. Trading up makes the gamble an all in situation.
  17. Patrick Peterson is still a productive player. A locker room leader and field general. He would be a valuable asset to the team. Despite these truths, he is a lil long in the tooth to be part of this rebuild. Also his best fit might be safety at this point.
  18. Not impressed? 52 pts and 623 yards of offense against the Buckeyes and Mac Jones jersey looked like he just picked it up from the dry cleaner at the end of that massacre. Najee Harris was running through freeways not lanes. Lastly the team chose him to hoist the trophy first. Guy could have came out after 2019 as a high pick but instead finished what he started. Giving up two sacks and three pressures for the year. That Alabama offense tore through the league. 500 yards per game. Compare that to some of the guys opting out this past year or only playing condensed seasons or "showcase" games and..
  19. Yeah Leatherwood's stock dipped a bit. I'm just not buying it. I like Darrisaw in the area of a trade down too. Sorry another thing I'm not buying into is this year's crop of "undersized" tackles Slater, Vera-Tucker and Dillon Radunz. What do all have in common elite movement, agility and technique. In just old fashioned though give me alabama, Notre Dame, Tennessee over ND st, Northwestern or USC to develop offensive lineman.
  20. Fixing oline in off season. If the QB of preference is gone at 8 we trade back. Not too far 12-18 is prime. Then draft Alex Leatherwood. Bama beast. Championship pedigree. Outland trophy winning left tackle. Second round target is Creed Humphrey Oklahoma center who has been in the middle of a innovative offense for years. Top center. If Creed gets swiped earlier than our second round pick (which is very likely) Go defense. Later in draft we keep an eye on guys like Trey Smith, Robert Jones, Adrian Ealy, Jackson Carman etc. Big swing tackles that could play a road grading right guard too. In free agency I have three targets. 1. Pat Elflein - third rounder out Ohio State. Started 44 games at all three interior positions. So Jack of all trades but could start at Center or left guard. 2. Brian Winters - third round out of Kent State. Played on Jets for years poor guy. But solid veteran to compete with a rookie right guard. 3. Sam Tevi - late round pick by chargers but despite that has started lots on the left side. Gritty competitor with a chip on his shoulder. Ideal to push Little and Leatherwood. If we miss out on Creed I would just wait yet another year for center. Not a fan of many of the other centers. Projected lineup. LT - Leatherwood, Levi, Little LG - Daley, Elflien C - Paradis, Elflien RG - Rookie, Winters RT - Moton, Daley,
  21. Have hopped off the brown train. That sounds weird. But still like Leatherwood. Boo all round I'm on the Oklahoma oline bandwagon give me Creed and Adrian
  22. Lance is boom or bust. It's a gamble. Him and Fields worry me.
  23. No discussion. That would be a travesty. I don't see it taysom hill does the same as cam would in that offense.
  24. I agree 10 to 15 is a preferable range for a trade down. 25 is a bit further down than I like. The offensive tackles and corners gonna be picked over pretty well by then.
