Overall, I like what I’m hearing in regards to Willis and Howell (my top 2 guys), they seem to be separating themselves. Strong seems to be making his way up the board a tad and might be able to compete with Pickett. Zappe is a meh prospect but he might turn out to be a solid backup. Ridder’s stock is tanking. I have: 1A) Willis 1B) Howell —————— 3A) Pickett 3B) Strong —————— 5) Zappe —————— 6) Ridder Corral fits in somewhere between Howell and Pickett/Strong.

Not even close, I’ve seen every single game he’s played at the collegiate level and many of them live. He has one of the best deep balls in all of college football and can make every NFL throw… his velocity and arm strength is insane. You factor that in with his ground game and his just flat out ridiculous Houdini like plays and it’s easy to see why scouts are high on him. A lot of his mistakes were due to pressing because of the talent level around him. He had maybe other NFL caliber player to work with on offense (WR-Demario Douglas) and his offensive line was horrid. His mechanics needs work but I don’t put much stalk into that talk. Those issues can be ironed out. Overall a lot of the concerns with Malik are the same concerns that people had with Cam. The Josh Allen comparison (not stylistically) is spot on, he’s perceived a certain way by people but in reality he has the tools to be a really good QB. At times he’s inconsistent but he certainly has the ability to be consistent and put the team on his back. He willed Liberty to wins against teams like Virginia Tech and Coastal Carolina. Bottom line is the guy is a flat out winner. Until this year no one even knew who Liberty was, Willis put them on the map.

Will stole the show today. He was my number one and continues to be my number one. He’s showing what he can do with actual talent.

If we add one more piece before the first game I suspect it would be a depth center forward with Mello recovering from injury or a depth CAM.

And we have a video of the first preseason goal in franchise history. Ruiz to Obertan off the set piece. I’d be shocked if Obertan doesn’t receive a contract. We need additional wingers and he has a ton of experience, including a short stint with Manchester United.

Probably not, a few of our guys are on international duty. Khalina, Fuchs, Makoun, Alcivar, Lindsey, Franco, Reyna, and obviously Machis could all factor into the starting XI. Honestly, the fact that we are up at the half on Grenada with the lineup that is out there is good to see.

A little update here… Charlotte FC leads 1-0 at the half.

Charlotte FC’s preseason has kicked off, the boys are at IMG academy in Bradenton, FL taking on the Grenadian National Team this afternoon. The formation looks to be a 4-3-3 with the starting lineup consisting of: GK - Marks LB - Mora CB - Sobocinski CB - Walkes RB - Afful CDM - Hegardt CM - Ruiz ACM - Ortiz LW - Obertan (try out player) CF - Swiderski RW - Gaines

Looks like it’s a done deal.

Klingberg and Halak are on my wishlist. Klingberg will only be a rental as he’s a free agent at the end of the year. I’d offer Ethan Bear, Ryan Suzuki, and a 2nd for Klingberg. I’d offer Spencer Smallman and a 4th for Halak. Via Shams… The Hornets reached out to the 76ers about Ben Simmons. It’s highly likely that it was just Kup doing due diligence but NBC Sports designed the following trade for shits and giggles. Hornets Receive: Ben Simmons, Tobias Harris 76ers Receive: Gordon Hayward, Terry Rozier, Kelly Oubre, and a 1st round pick Would you do that trade? The Hornets roster would look like this: G - LaMelo Ball, Ish Smith G - Ben Simmons, James Bouknight F - Miles Bridges, Cody Martin F - Tobias Harris, Jalen McDaniels C - Mason Plumlee, P.J. Washington Thor, Jones, Richards, and Carey rounding out the bench.

Since it’s going to take us 5 more years to get there in Tepper’s master plan, there’s a chance the NFL figures it out by then.
