  1. I won't lie, I thought Herbert looked Blaine Gabbertish and was really surprised by his play in LA. When I saw a few of his college games, I just didn't see a guy commanding the game but he really stepped up.
  2. Yeah of the two scenarios I mentioned, that's what I'm leaning towards happens. At the end of the day, I don't think HOU wants to risk not getting their guy and landing pick 3. NYJ have what they need, some defensive talent and the #2 pick in the draft, along with a few other tradable picks as well. That's where the MIA pick suddenly becomes interesting. Do we like Fields that much? Is the trade up worth it? That's the big move if there is one for us in the draft, a Fields trade up to #3 leaping ATL for a QB we want. Now sure, like people are saying above me, don't be so sure/etc., but I just think teams will view this Zach Wilson kid higher. We can only make our best guesses and that's mine. I just don't see us being complacent at QB anymore from everything I've heard w/Tepper.
  3. Yeah, Fields and Lance will no doubt be under the biggest microscope in my view. If we think one of them is our guy, we'll go get him. If not, then that's where things start to get tricky.
  4. If that's the case, then in that scenario is 3 Houston taking a OL for their newly acquired Tua?
  5. So this is where I keep falling to with the draft and it's looking beyond those two. And when I do...I keep hopping sides of the fence with Fields, Lance, & Jones. I recognize their pros and cons, their knowns and unknowns, and I still can't parse it out. None of them really say PICK ME like Lawrence and Wilson do. They just don't. I'm having a hard time seeing Fields outside of the OSU offense, there's too many unknowns with Trey Lance, and Mac Jones, well, that's been heavily discussed ha. So looking back at the top, I foresee a tricky situation with the Deshaun Watson trade madness. If we get him, we get him. Done. If we don't though; there's a very high chance the team is either MIA or NYJ. In the event of a HOU-MIA trade: NYJ stays at #2 and it makes a potential trade up very costly for us, especially since NYJ will absolutely need a QB. I just don't see #8 to #2 happening if Watson goes to Miami. NYJ would be inane to not pick Zach Wilson. In the event of a HOU-NYJ trade: Houston will be at 2 and could very well take Wilson. I mean, they will take Zach Wilson unless they go even more crazy than they already are. So the fact that this Watson madness is happening is directly putting Zach Wilson out of reach in my opinion. So then, without looking at Trevor, Deshaun, or Zach Wilson, who is the QB we go for? How would you attack this after exhausting options to get those guys? Is any other rookie really worth it? Do any of these vets really have long term appeal? Or SB starting caliber skills? So my main questions: Is there a chance to stockpile an extra first with a trade-down? That gets us capital next year for a trade up w/that Howell cat. But the team will be better so where could those 2 firsts fall? Is the potential of Trey Lance or Justin Fields worth the risk? Is Dak a legit possibility? Would we even want him for two firsts? And if none of the above happening, what is the non-Bridgewater solution for 2021? Minshew? Darnold? It then starts to get messy. Really breaking this down makes me see why this Deshaun thing happening saves us a load of time; no more playing in the mud with mediocrity. In conclusion, and contrary to my thread title: Watson or Bust.
  6. We just really need a front court and we're not getting Mobley. The rest of the draft sucks at the 4 & 5. And I think our small ball lineups are legit so we really just need a 24 min+ 5 that can maybe stretch. Rim protection+shooting (but 3s aren't a must). Vuc would be dope. Wood would've been dope. Still think Bagley is an offseason target. It's a big void that we could really catapult ourselves into a top-4 east team with the right guy.
  7. 100% Hell, throw in Richards. Zeller+Graham+Richards+2021 unprotected+2023 unprotected. Let's do it!!
  8. I'd rather slap 5 mil on Monk. I doubt we need to match anyone for him. Devonta needs to get traded. Even if it's not the ideal value as we'll likely get nothing for him otherwise.
  9. Ima say Alvin Kamara+Lattimore+2021 1st+2023 1st
  10. Malcolm Jenkins & Demario Davis -- to be cut Michael Thomas -- part of trade? That's like 45 million right there (factoring in 2021 cap). When there's a will, and maneuverable cashola, there's a way
  11. They also have next to no dead money. The Eagles and Rams are the teams in the worst spots these next two years. Eagles...whooooof
  12. Nails is to Greg Hardy as Breakpoint is to Bridgewater
  13. Yup. That's 7-9 mil. Still, being in the top 1/3rd of the league space wise should help compared to most years if we start to do this right.
  14. Hopeful. 1 yr 13.5 mil at a min w/tag I think. Then we've got 17 mil to spend elsewhere. Potentially more without Shaq or Bridge. Could get up to 27 mil. Would imagine we hold off on a splash until we figure out the QB sit
  15. Being, what, 9th in current cap? (this is before we decide the fates of Shaq & Teddy), I think we could get 1 or 2 decent long term fits that are start now types. Maybe fringe star.
  16. I actually see a pickle and it's why I just hope we just land Watson somehow: If he goes to MIA, we'd need to look at trading to #2 with NYJ if we want Zach Wilson. I just don't see that happening; the Jets have a new GM & coach, the #2 pick, if anything they may try to swing #2+Darnold+2021 1st for Russell Wilson. Or try to land Dak. If the NYJ get Deshaun Watson, I think it's pretty set that Zach Wilson goes to HOU at 2. Basically, if we think there's a drop after Zach, we're looking at a thin line to figure this out. I'd like to think our options here Watson or Zach but it will be hard to make either happen. Don't know about Dak, Lance, Fields, Jones, Darnold, etc. they all seem a clear tier lower than the potential of Zach or what you instantly get with Watson.
  17. The Ringer hires good web designers
  18. That's what I've thought. He had unreal performances back in 2018 and I thought he was going to be something special. Then in 2019, one week yikes, the next wow. There was one game where he was unreal vs. Bama. 2020 comes along, he's looking okay, played Bama and Florida both well at the start of the year but then had some real head scratchers against Miss St & LSU. Mad inconsistent. He's got the tools but I just don't know what to think of him. When he's looked good, he's looked like he had mad potential and he throws with confidence (when it looks like he's an actual QB)
  19. I actually like Simms but yuck on Mond. Was the video posted?
  20. Oh I get that. I'm just trying to push you in a certain light here (and being kind of dickish in the process)
  21. Okay then, so you're baking up really bad scenarios and trying to poll what the most acceptable baseline worst-case scenario is. I hope you're drunk lol.
  22. Ah, well I think his value is less of that than at least 3 of the other TE UFAs. He had a good stretch but he's nothing that great IMO. He's above average, got injured last season, and will be 32 for 2021. Not worth the money. I'd much rather target Gerald Everett or Jonnu Smith. Although, I can't say we invest a lot of dinero at the position. We'll see, not a huge Rudolph fan.
  23. Lesser of two evils is typically when there's 2 (and really only two) options where neither are for the betterment of the situation. You're saying if our ideal route doesn't happen, which one of these crappy scenarios would you accept. I choose none of the above.
  24. Those are really random options and all less than our ideal route. Are you asking what is our favorite option of the really bad ones you mention?
