  1. I agree here that Tua was injury prone in College, no doubt about it. I’m assuming the attempt was to find a comp for Young in the NFL, but clearly there is not one existing today as Young is a far outlier in terms of size for a QB.
  2. The reported playing weight of Young is ~185 and reported playing weight of Stroud is +220. Every player in the NFL is an injury risk due to the nature of the have. Stroud at +220 is more within the standard of current players while Young is an outlier. There are no guarantees that one will stay healthier than the other, but purely theoretical it would seem that Young would be at a higher risk, and hence the concerns have been raised by most pundits and our own head coach.
  3. He does some great breakdowns, but follows it with, never mind what I just showed you, this is how I feel.
  4. These two videos have been great. Warner is raving about his ability to move in the pocket, read the defense, go through his progression, awareness of where to go with the ball etc. This shows why a lot of us are so high on him as our pick.
  5. If the right WR is there, take him. If not we should be able to get a starter at CB, DE/OLB or TE. Great position to be in.
  6. Young was an amazing college QB. If we pick him I hope it translates as well as most people say. I would be ecstatic to be wrong if that is the case.
  7. I think the vast majority supports the team. The team, not a specific draft pick. You can be disappointed with the pick and still support the team. Not sure why you are working so hard at this narrative that people are not being honest, it’s a bit odd.
  8. Absolutely. Our rookie QB will come to an unusually good situation, which drastically improves the change of success.
  9. Pretty cool breakdown of all QBs drafted since 2008 and how they panned out: https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/2023-nfl-draft-regrading-every-first-round-qb-pick-over-the-last-15-years-from-trevor-lawrence-to-joe-flacco/ and yes, Cam was a home run so everyone can relax
  10. My concern is that it looks like he really have to step in to his throws as he can’t just flick his wrist like most top QBs. But I might be wrong.
  11. If it is Young I hope I’m completely wrong with my concerns. I’m a Panthers supporter first and foremost. But I would be a bit disappointed, no doubt. But on the other hand, what do I know about picking a QB? I also assume there are limited leaks at this point. Anyone who claims to have sources are just making it up, and essentially just sharing their best guess.
  12. My favorite is Brugler from the Athletic. He’s really, really good.
  13. I lot of people don’t like Kiper. I feel he is very entertaining. He is wrong all the time but he works extremely hard and has sooooo much passion for the draft. He inadvertently adds a lot of levity to this whole thing.
  14. IQ is more important, but you need to pair that with a good enough arm to be able to challenge a defense vertically. If you have a weak arm it doesn’t matter how smart you are. All the best QBs currently have very good arms to pair with their smarts.
  15. One big issue for me is that I have serious doubts Young can do in the NFL what he did in college. I don’t think he has the arm to be “a Mahomes”. On the other hand I think Strouds game translates really well. And I love him as an awesome pure passer.
  16. I think it is very fair to say their schedule was not that impressive last year. It is also fair to say Alabama wasn’t as loaded on the offense as usual (although it is packed with 4 and 5 star talent).
  17. I would chose Young as he is much better than the other two. I just think Stroud is better than him.
  18. It basically comes down to one thing with Young. Awesome college player, but can he do in the NFL what he did in college? I don’t think so, hence he makes me nervous. You and many others think he can, so then it makes sense you prefer him. The one thing I disagree with you on is the SEC is like the NFL kind of thing (I’m taking the liberty of rephrasing it here). The NFL is completely different where everyone is bigger, stronger and faster. The SEC is not an NFL comp.
  19. For someone that plays the victim card, you sure jump at any chance to poke and prod at people.
  20. There is no doubt Young was asked to do more. The question is what Stroud can do vs. what he was asked to do. I think Stroud projects better to the NFL, but that’s just my opinion. Young makes me nervous but I will obviously support him 100% if he’s the choice. SEC wasn’t nearly as good as usual this year, in line with Alabama’s supporting cast, so I think it’s a wash. They are still all 4 and 5 star players.
  21. I have to disagree. Stroud is considered the best passer by almost everyone in terms of accuracy, ball placement, effortless arm strength (vs. Young) etc. Most people think that is what Reich values the most, hence best fit.
  22. There is just a small subset that bashes, most discussions have been great.
  23. I think a lot of people that prefer Stroud openly say so, me included. There’s has been a massive amount of bashing of both players. To say it is one sided towards Young is naive at best. Very few people preferring Stroud feel Young is better. Settling is a narrative from some media places.
  24. Wouldn’t touch him with a 10 foot pole
