Josh Norris and Josh McCown (pre us hiring him) made this excellent show where they analyzed Young, Stroud and Levis. Their analysis felt very fair and unbiased. I haven’t watched any of Levis games myself, but I fully trust the opinions of the Joshes, and the Levis review was rough. They tried to be nice, but it felt like the mental aspect and processing is significantly lacking for Levis. So that’s why I don’t want him. I don’t hate him at all, but that analysis made me not want him. Here is the link;

New trade down theory coming out of League circles
Martin replied to Growl's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is my assumption: If we like Young and Stroud, we’ll have to get to 1 or 2 to get them. They will be gone by pick 3. If we are good with 3 of them with no strong preference we should trade with the Cards. Personally I believe Young and Stroud are clearly the top 2, then a drop of to Richardson and then a big drop of to Levis. But that is just my opinion, I obviously have no idea what the Panthers think. -
I also don’t put tons of weight on Kunkel’s opinion on best scheme fit. I would think Stroud is a great fit.

Panthers are now the betting favorite for the #1 pick

So what is your QB solution. Not trying to be an ass here, just curious. Mine is to risk it a bit and trade up for Stroud. -

So you’re saying you should always drive a run down crappy car so you didn’t have to worry to get hit by another car? -

Colts feels like a team that is constantly over thinking it. I don’t think they will get their act together and trade up. But that is some wild speculation on my end. -

Could be, it could also mean we have our long term answer at QB. At some point we have to do something, we know doing nothing will not work. -
Will Kunkel says we're only "seriously interested" in three

I agree, it just bugs me that some reporters are not more upfront about it. It is an issue with the clickbait era unfortunately. -

I think Joe does a good job saying “…my sense is…”. It is very clear it is his opinion. Joe is doing a great job at the Athletic. -

It feels like Kunkel is often speculating or thinking out loud on what he would do and then pass it on as information he’s learned from sources. So it is hard to trust him imo. But I’m sure he gets it right at times. -

This is an interesting take/speculation -
Btw, I was trying to add this to an existing thread, but the new fxxking ads blocks the screen so I couldn’t do it on my phone.

I almost think Seattle resigning Geno makes it more likely they take AR. It would be a perfect situation where he can sit, learn and develop behind Geno.

No doubt all owners talked about the Browns contract with the creep and said it was crazy. But there are two other main concerns here: 1) The injury history the last two years is not good. 2) Ravens are not known for being a cheap organization. If they can’t come to an agreement with their star QB after negotiating for two years… Other teams for sure have a rough idea what Lamar is asking for and don’t think it is worth their time.

AR is a risk, but at least we know he will give it his all and he’s not afraid of a challenge. That makes him different from a lot of high QB picks like Zach Wilson and Kyler Murray.

They would have been better of drafting one of the franchise QBs you can easily get a bit further down in the draft that I’ve been hearing about.

REPORT: Panthers to aggressive pursue trade up to get a QB
Martin replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Just have to agree to disagree on this one. Playing it smart is to do a blend of safe and taking calculated risks. Btw, what is your safe and smart QB solution outside of kicking the can down the road? -
REPORT: Panthers to aggressive pursue trade up to get a QB
Martin replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
If you are scared to take calculated risks based on you best insights you shouldn’t be a GM in the first place. Always playing it safe won’t allow you to win much in this league. -
The Athletic had a really nice write up of the combine. Here is the snippet on Stroud (who I want us to trade up to #1 and take): ” C.J. Stroud isn’t the physical specimen of Anthony Richardson or Will Levis, but he still wowed folks in Indy. The 21-year-old from Ohio State threw for more than 8,000 yards in two seasons with an 85-to-12 TD-to-INT ratio, he torched the Georgia defense in his final college game, and he was razor sharp in his throwing session Saturday. Every throw looked smooth, effortless and natural. His deep ball was even more impressive than some NFL personnel folks expected. “It’s the consistency he has with his arm, not only the accuracy but knowing when to throw what type of ball,” said the NFL QB coach. “C.J. is excellent at choosing the right club per se.” This is a guy rival coaches have been raving about the past two years: “He’s the most accurate quarterback I’ve ever played against,” said one longtime college defensive coordinator who has faced a bunch of future top-10 draft picks. “It’s like he couldn’t have handed the ball to his receivers any better, and they’re 30, 40 yards downfield. He’s got high-level NFL accuracy and NFL vision. I think he understands the game so well and gets it out in under three seconds. He has a very high football IQ and really understands what you’re trying to do to him.” Stroud didn’t just shine on the field but off it as well in his interviews, and even in between them. A quick story: Early in the week in Indy, Stroud was amid other prospects in the speed dating circuit of formal interviews, being escorted from one suite to another inside Lucas Oil Stadium to meet with front office folks, coaches and scouts. Then he spotted a familiar face, an NFL team staffer he recognized from a recruiting trip he took to a school he didn’t attend. Even though the guy wasn’t one of the coaches who actually had been a point person in his recruitment, Stroud not only remembered him, he also remembered his now 12-year-old son who he’d met on a recruiting trip four years ago. He even asked to FaceTime with the kid right then and there and proceeded to laugh it up with his little buddy like he was the kid’s uncle. So much for combine jitters.”

I agree. As a contrast, in the video of Levis, it looked like he was trying his best to not trash him. But him and Norris couldn’t hold back a couple of times.
